This cookbook is the best I have ever used by far. There were easy to follow recipes donated by people from each parish in Louisiana. Cooking this food reminds me of my childhood and growing up in New Orleans. I would recommend this cookbook to anyone!

This wonderful, 84 page chapter book is an excellent way to get American history into your children. It's easy to read, easy to understand, and your children will find it entertaining as well as informative. They will learn about Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon Bonaparte, Robert Livingston, James Monroe, Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Sacagawea, and their respective roles in purchasing and exploring the Louisiana Purchase. Black and white illustrations are included throughout the book to help them visualize the events. It's so good, you'll want to read it yourself and learn what you didn't learn in school! I recommend using it for family reading times for K-6th grade.

When you begin to look at Dr. Rodriguez's Encyclopedia, you become entranced and amazed at how many people and places where involved in the Louisiana Purchase. Rodriquez breaks down the book an writes a description for each person and event during the Louisiana purchase. As one of his students at Eureka College it is very obvious that he is an Expert about The Louisiana Purchase. I suggest if you don't anything or think you know everything about The Louisiana Purchase, I suggest reading Dr. Rodriguez's encyclopedia.

This is a very crazy but real life story about a girl named Hannah Trland. How could a family be so disfunctional that the older sister makes the bother sleep with his little sister. The first pages in this book is startling and somewhat scary. The main character Hannah Triland is faced with so many obsticles she has to overcome starting at age 7 up until age 18. The young girls mother dies at the hands of her own flesh and blood by drug overdoes. The murder covered never to be mentioned again in the story. The father Jacob Triland is a very incompetent older man that is stricken by poverties ugly hand. A black family living in Northern Louisiana is why the author named the book Draumatized. She took the "T" from the word Traumatized and substituted it with a "D" to enphasize the tragic nature of the book.Louisiana Red is the girls stage name at a topless bar she works in Houston Texas. When I read the story it evolked many emotions but for the most part I cried and I felt inspired to be a better person. This is a very good book for anyone to read.

De Caro & Jordan have selected a range of travel accounts that manage to capture the diversity, contradiction, and character of Louisiana, from colonial times to the present. Their contemporary travel updates make this book useful to modern-day trippers, and the inclusion of selections by literary luminaries such as Steinbeck broaden its appeal beyond Louisiania lovers.

Carl Bridenbaugh examines three major cultures of the eighteenth-century colonial South. Bridenbaugh examines the individual characters of the Chesapeake, the South Carolina Lowcountry and the Southern Backcountry. A thorough and colorful portrait of life in each culture is offered.
There were multiple cultures in the South. Bridenbaugh examines three Southern societies, and the contrasts between them are illuminating. The book concentrates on developments after the formative seventeenth century, and before the tumult of the Revolution.

Wonderful book, the cases are edited down to only the important info and most of them have interesting facts so the reader WANTS to know what happens to them and why.
There also contains several law review articles to explain some of the difficult topics.
