If you love Louisville and you love baseball, read it

The best (and only) source of information on baseball in Louisville, KY in the late 19th century. It takes you from the first box score ever recorded in Louisville to their charter membership in the National League to their last year in major league basball in 1899. The best part of the book is the entire chapter devoted to Pete Browning, Louisville's only true superstar of the 19th century. With great pictures, humorous anecdotes, and a wealth of information, this book is the last word on baseball in 19th century Louisville.

Having visited Lexington many times, it was very interesting to read this book and learn something of the history of Lexington.
The many interesting photographs provide an insight into the many changes that the town of Lexington has undergone.
It is a great shame that many of these historic buildings have been lost but the author has provided an interesting and detailed knowledge of how the life once was in Lexington.

This book is not out of print. It is readily available from the current publisher, Books on Demand in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The book has been praised as the best treatment of Augustine's Theory of Knowledge available. Chapter topics include an overview of Augustine's philosophical system, his treatment of skepticism, of faith and reason and an extensive examination of his often misunderstood theory of divine illumination.

This book is absolutely captivating. It is one of the best biographies I have ever read--one truly has a feel for what Lincoln's world was like during his childhood and early adulthood. Can't wait for the sequel.

Review Date: 2006-12-16
As author of this book my intent was to make something that locals would say, "Wow, I didn't know that!" while outsiders would exclaim, "I need to visit this place!"
Logan County, KY has such a rich history from Jesse James robbing his first bank here to all the dead voting in past elections. Filmmaker John Carpenter came here in his youth to see movies. The Second Great Awakening started here. Coleman Dowell was born here. If you love old pictures and history this is a book for you, wherever you live.
