This is a wonderful, easy to use book. It is divided into regions, with guide maps within each region. All sorts of camping sites are listed, from freeway accessible RV parks, to primative National Park facilities. Scenery ratings are given for each, along with available services and driving directions.
I've used AAA camping guide books for years, but found this more thorough and easier to use. I am ordering the Washington equivalent. Sadly, none of the other Western States are covered yet. Hopefully that will change soon.

After spending almost twenty-five years exploring and fishing Montana, my retirement in Oregon poses a singular challenge. I don't have the time or energy to fish all the waters of my new adopted state. I initially purchased a couple of Oregon fishing guide books and found them helpful. Craig Schuhman's book, Moon Outdoors - Oregon Fishing, however, is my go-to-bible on Oregon fishing.
Having written a Montana fly fishing and camping guide a number of years ago, I am in awe of the expansive coverage Craig has included in his 470 page book. The content is rich in details, and he does not generalize or gloss over hard to reach watersheds. Having already explored a number of creeks and streams in southeast Oregon, I immediately went to the pages covering the upper Sprague River, the Sycan River, Thompson Reservoir, Dogg Lake and a number of other smaller fishing waters I had already covered. Two of the books I had previously purchased gave fishing information that were inflated and generalized. I tested Schuhman's information with my experience, and his credibility soared. Oregon Fishing is indeed a Complete Guide to Fishing Lakes, Rivers, Streams, and the Ocean.
Although I missed not seeing photographs in the guide book, once I began using the book, I was appreciative of the well thought out organization and keyed maps. Each featured body of water covers the species of fish, facilities, directions and contact information for tackle shops and other related businesses in the area. As a new resident in Oregon, I especially liked that I never got lost while I perused through the book. Organized by geographical sections, each body of water is given a site name and number, along with a general location of the site in relation to the nearest town or landmark. Under this information is a reference to the map with the page number. If you are serious about fishing Oregon, this book is a must have guide book!

Photographer Peter Marbach knows this mountain well--his shots are absolutely gorgeous. Mount Hood is the most popular mountain in Oregon, a symbol of the Pacific Northwest, and a source of inspiration because of this book. This would make an excellent gift for anyone in love with this mountain or who lives in the Northwest.

Having just moved to Portland, I was dying to find places where the townsfolk got dirty (on their bikes, that is). While I didn't buy this book from Amazon (sorry, got it at Powell's downtown), this is a great little guide to mountain bike rides in Portland and the surrounding areas. The book details each ride, rates them on their difficulty, and conveniently categorizes them so you can can plan your day in the dirt. The best thing about this book is its size, because it's small enough to cart along with you on the trail. I've even taking to crossing off the rides as I complete them.
If you're riding in Portland, you should get this book!

This is a fantastic book to help young readers want to continue reading and learn about the chanllenges of the Old West. I pre-read every book that I get for my kids to make sure it is something they 1) can understand and 2) has a quality that will make them a better person when they have completed it.
Mr. Tucket and the whole Tucket's Travels series by Gary Paulsen gets 5+ stars from me. Paulsen weaves actual events into the adventures that young Tucket faces. I ended up reading the whole Tucket series (five books) in two nights after getting the rest of the family into bed.
Each night I read a chapter to the boys after I get them into bed, in an age of fast action television and high focus computer games, this book has my kids begging for "Please, read another chapter... We'll go right to sleep afterwords tonight... We promise... PLEASE! Just one more chapter......."
It is a fantastic book, I highly recommend it. The whole Tucket series is very exciting, believable, and hair raising. But, don't feel that you need the whole series to appreciate Mr. Tucket, it is a stand alone book. However, I will make you one promise.... Once you finish Mr. Tucket you will be hunting for the other four books so you can find out if he ever sees his family again.

Lola Baldwin indeed was the first policewoman in the United States with arrest authority. Portland also may boast of the first woman to be named Chief of a metropolitan police force in 1985: Penny Harrington. Harrington's innovations in diversity training and community policing are heralded today throughout the country, and reflected upon in her autobiography, Triumph of Spirit. The dedication and leadership of women like Baldwin and Harrington provide role models, not only for women who desire a career in law enforcement, but for all women who have the courage to follow their dreams.

Not to mention it has the wolfman getting kicked in the nuts...Overall this movie is supposed to be for kids but it can be viewed by anyone over the age of 10 and they will enjoy it. If I had a nickel for everytime I laughed in that movie...I'd have a sh*t load of nickels.
If I could id give it 10 stars...and three thumbs up...yeah three!!!
