Peggy Brooke has created heart-warming story of a young family's struggle to get on their feet and their unswerving faith in God. Each new dilemma has the reader facing the same emotional upheval they felt. As each new problem strikes, readers hope the family can overcome it and mentally undergo the same questioning doubt the young newlyweds face. You will root for the family and feel like they are your own. This book is a must-read for anyone with a family or anyone who has ever doubted the power of faith in God.

A specialized slice of early American frontier history

Wheel Boats On The Missouri: The Journals And Documents Of The Atkinson-O'fallon Expedition 1824-1826 is an archival reference showcasing a specialized slice of early American frontier history - as reflected by the original words of the wheel boat men who were directed by President James Monroe to negotiate peace treaties with Native American tribes along the Missouri River. The resulting use of 475 infantry soldiers, "gunboat diplomacy," and man-powered wheel boats across a 3,000 mile expedition is meticulously detailed among numerous primary references. Journals dealing with daily life, navigation difficulties, American Indian cultures and political negotiations provide an amazing glimpse into army life in an America of almost two centuries past. Wheel Boats On The Missouri is an impressive work of scholarship and a strongly recommended addition to academic and community library American history reading lists and reference collections.

This is a great book! It's great for kids from fourth grade to seventh, and good for reluctant readers. When Donald and his brother Pat's father comes home, at first they are thrilled. Then Donald's father buys a home out in absolutely-middle-of-deep-space-completely-nowhere, and Donald is sad to leave his friends. He is so upset with his father; he decides to run away to California. But first he needs to save exactly ten dollars. But there's plenty of stuff to do in the meantime, and he knows he'll go as soon as he gets enough money...Or will he? This is a warm-hearted tale by Don Lemna, and be prepared for lots 'o' laughs when you read it! I highly reccomend this book.

Discovering Janet Dallett

This book is likely to be a deeply moving surprise for anyone interested in either Jungian psychology or just discovering a fuller, richer life. Dr. Dallett writes in a manner that invites the reader into contact with those areas of human experience that underlie -- and often interfere with -- daily living. She is able to articulate as compassionate, clear, common sense material that is often overlooked as arcane, or only for professionals. The mixture of her academic knowledge and her skepticism toward the institutionalizing of powerful concepts render wonderfully accessible a personal experience of that ordering energy of nature commonly referred to as "God". This book is an excellent work both for the reader interested in an introduction to Jung's psychology, and for the analyst who sincerely wishes to support healing in those with whom we work.

You wouldn't think of agriculture -- in Montana -- as cosmic, but Mr. Gilles' work ranks as a closet classic. Ironically, he predicted the 1980s' national farm economic and environmental disasters which he covered as an editor for the Great Falls Tribune, where he ewes nominated for a Pulitzer.
His thinking is far from the mundane, beginning chapters with quotes varying from E.F. Schumacher to Malthus to Mary Elizabeth Lease.
In a way, this is a lot like many of the Frank Bird Linderman books about pre-reservation Indians in Montana -- a sad mirror to the hard gains and painful losses of the past.

I just loved this book, not only because it is about my family but because it is written extremely well, laid out well and lots of good pictures too. It is a look into pioneer history in Montana and Wyoming and how it was to live the life. I couldn't put it down...

Reid is right up there with Crumley and Burke, but Wild Animals was his last book in 1996. I've got all his books and each is a classic. Will we ever see more from him?

Wildflowers Of Montana is a beautifully illustrated field guide for Montana locals and visitors alike. Entries consist of full-color photographs of more than 350 plant species, each one accompanied by a brief descriptive paragraph, and information on the wildflower's habitat and range. An introduction, index, and categorization system that organizes entries according to color and number of petals, topped off with a "thumbnail photo" identification guide allowing one to pick out a flower specimen just by glancing at a handful of pages makes Wildflowers Of Montana extremely easy to use even for the complete novice.

Informatively written by historian, archivist and educator Charles Mutschler, Wired For Success: The Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway, 1892-1985 is the exciting and enthusiastically recommended story of the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway, how it became a pioneer electric railway system, and the impact it had on America from the late 1800's to the modern day. Black-and-white photographs combine with narrative description so real it transports the reader into a bygone era of railroading history.
