EXCELLENT GUIDE FOR DOING TIME AT CARNATE ISLAND

BradyGames does it again with another excellent guide to another excellent Rated M game (this time by Midway instead of Rockstar Games). Greg Kramer covers the skills, techniques, weapons, and items you'll need to guide Torque through the many areas (and storied past) of Carnate Island (as well as introducing you to the cast of characters that populates it). He then gives you the grand tour of each of it's 20 levels. This includes maps, a load of color pictures, and plenty of explanations. With 3 possible endings, you must choose wisely as you wind your way around the island as your actions determine the game's outcome. Be sure to check out the Extras section in the back of the guide as it gives you a glimpse of the Archives (Clem's notebook and Consuela's journal) and the bonus level (Level 00 : Waiting To Die) that you open upon completion of the game (regardless of the ending). So come to Maryland and do some time at Carnate Island.

I normaly figure a game out without a stradegy guide, but since you need to hit certain buttons to dodge an action, like when the giant rock falls in the forest, I needed a stadegy guide for it. I was blown away by the direct information and how it warned me ahead of time for the action buttons. I would recomend this to my other friends, if they had it.
great great graphics and storyline!

`Paige' Against the Machine...a child's survival guide

Review Date: 2008-05-19
Dr. Carlsson-Paige's "Taking Back Childhood" is a profoundly affecting and gripping read. Reading this eye-and heart-opening book should be mandated for all parents and caregivers of children 0 - 10. Short of that, I highly recommend this compassionate and sensitive tome for anyone hoping to see the world through a child's eyes. Children are not creatures of logic and thus parents and caregivers need the insights presented here in order to assure our children of the (relatively simple and readily available) tools they need to flourish as upstanding human beings.
If we don't like the changes we see in the world it is incumbent upon us as adults to institute the changes we want to see. There's no time like the present and no better place to start than with our "greatest natural resource": our babies and children. Dr. Carlsson-Paige gives us the tools to do just that with her straightforward advice and real-life examples. This may be more than just a good read; it could be a wake-up call and godsend for humanity. Bravo!

A Million Times Better than the Tales of Symphonia Guide
Helpful Votes: 9 out of 9 total.
Review Date: 2006-03-15
Review Date: 2006-03-15
BradyGAMES learned from their mistake with the Tales of Symphonia guide. The Tales of Legendia guide is helpful, detailed, and makes it a point to cover as much as possible.
The guide begins with the game basics. If you're pretty new to the game, or the Tales series, the game basics will help you get on your feet and keep you from falling over. It's brutally detailed (perhaps too detailed at times). Giving you the low down from the basic controls, to the complexity of the battle system. By helping you get to know the battle system I'm not kidding. They even go as far as to show you how to get the best Grade possible!
After the exhaustive game basics, we get into the characters section. Here the guide gives you the low-down on every character. All the different Eres they use, Compound Eres and all the titles they can amount to. They do this for each and every character.
Afterwards we get to the walkthrough, which has shown the most improvement over the Tales of Symphonia guide. Let me first tell you that there actually ARE maps. They're pretty detailed maps too, and they're very easy to use. The walkthrough is divided into chapters. For each subsection in a chapter, there's a an objectives list. Not only do they tell you what you need to do, but they point out on the map where it is you're going to do it. The guide also has some good overall puzzle solutions and strategies. The boss strategies aren't so bad either, they work well at leading you to victory. It's also nice to see that when entering a new area they actually told you what enemies are there and they provided an HP statistic as well as weaknesses. The walkthrough is easy to use, gets to the point (most times, they do have a tendency to say things like, "There are a few story events that take place..." which is, of course something a guide shouldn't have to tell us). If you're someone who doesn't like spoilers, this guide doesn't spoil the story for you. It's a guide that tells you what to do, but is still willing to let you cross the street on your own.
After the walkthrough we get into the character quests section. This section is, by and large, laid out exactly as the walkthrough. In fact, it's more or less a continuation of the walkthrough.
Tales of Legendia has a ton of sidequests and this guide will help you out on all of them. While the guide doesn't really do a fantastic job of telling you just WHEN the quest is availible, it does a pretty good job giving you a basic overview of how to do it. So I forgave it in this sense.
The Bestiary is where I have one of my first major gripes with the guide. If you decide to use the bestiary, there's a lot of page flipping involved. The bestiary is grouped by a monsters families. Which means it's alright when you know where to find the family, but if you don't... there's a lot of flipping to be done. The guide calls out the families at least, which is good (unlike other guides that sort of umm... forget). However, I could've been more productive with it had it been in alphabetical order.
After the bestiary you've got all those appendices. Items lists, Recipes, customization and even characters skits and how to get them. They're really good overall (especially the recipes).
If you're skeptical about buying this guide because of how terrible the Tales of Symphonia guide was (if you need a reminder, just check out the reviews), allow me to dispel any fear of this being a bad guide. For what it's worth, it's a good guide. It's helpful. The only REALLY big issue I had with it was that in all the detail and careful attention they gave the walkthrough and other areas... they didn't include a world map. An RPG guide does needs a world map. In a game as big as Tales of Legendia, a world map would've been very helpful. Overall, though, I was much more impressed with this guide than I thought I would be. So if you're having trouble with Tales of Legendia, grab this guide. It'll help you in the long run.

BradyGames has done it again with their Tenchu 2/Birth Of The Assassins strategy guide. It's all here : the game basics; how to use the mission editor; the walkthroughs for Rikimaru, Ayame, and Tatsumaru; and the secret codes. The maps are clear, the screen shots are plentiful (and brighter then BG's Tenchu/SA guide), and the directions are concise. To further aid you, tips and notes are liberally sprinkled throughout. In addition to giving boss strategy, they've even added the weapons that they carry as well as their HPs. A great guide to a great follow-up game. Night has fallen.

Though it isn't as detailed as the SYBEX guide, which also includes Atomic Edition, this is a SUPER guide with tons of info. Also, it includes many pages on the BUILD program. There are decent maps and every secret is revealed, in a nicely-layed out walkthrough section. There are no screenshots but you don't really need them with the strategies provided here. Keep in mind that this guide does not include Atomic Edition so don't be surprised. You really should get this guide if you really need help in the game.
