I read this book on the flight to the U.S. which initiated my move to this country several years ago. Having spent a couple
of months in L.A. in 1991 just prior to the first Rodney King trial (which was to spark the upheaval this book, in part, draws
on), at a time when tension was already palpable in the air, "Angels Flight" ("El Vuelo del Angel") immediately brought back
my memories of that time. Now that I am living and working in Los Angeles again, I can appreciate even better Michael Connelly's
excellent insight into the politics of this city and the situation of the LAPD, where, with the "C.R.A.S.H." scandal, the
ghost of the old beast has recently reared its head again. Connelly's rendition is true to detail in every respect - even
his description of the ongoing struggle to define the role of the "inspector general," whose position was created as a response
to the Rodney King trials and tribulations; who as yet, however, has not been as effective as the creators of that office
had in mind.
"Angel's Flight" was Connelly's first book I read, and it immediately drew me into the Harry Bosch series. I have since become an ardent fan and am always eagerly awaiting the next installment. Michael Connelly is one of the few authors who have never once disappointed me!

Elizabeth I: The Observation is an incredibly inventive and exhilarating tale of a modern day chemist (Trisha) and her coworker,
Professor Esmentaur, who find themselves journeying to another world, called Avious. On Avious, they find a civilization
in peril, and encounter many adventures along the way. In the midst of the conflict of Avious, Trisha and Professor Esmentaur
also begin to discover something about themselves, but that will be left for you, the reader, to discover. Ms. Merin is a
tremendously talented author with the unique gift of being able to "create" new worlds in her writing and to take the reader
along with her. This novel is a very fast-paced and entertaining journey, and comes with the highest recommendations from
me and all who have read it.

I am sorry this book is out of print. My sons, now 27 and 26, both loved this story when they were young. The art work is
perfectly matched with the story-line, which made it a joy for me to read as well.
Ellsworth is a bored, young feline who learns some important lessons from a friendly, green vistor named Margaret. With her help, Ellsworth finds adventure and a sense of himself in his own backyard. Remarkably, this excitement is achieved long before cell phones or video games.
It's a cute story. One doesn't even have to like cats to enjoy the book.

Have you ever seen an elephant fly? Well, on a particularly windy day, the elephant herd is holed up in a cave, not wanting
to go out, along with a few birds. But Wilbur and Elmer assure them that elephants cannot be blown over so out they go.
Since the pair love pratical jokes, they get inside another cave, out of the sight of the herd and Wilbur does his ventriloquism,
making the herd think that they're in trouble and about to fly off. So, the herd tie themselves together, tail to tail, and
go out to find them. They realize it was another joke and go backwards to get back into the cave. If that wasn't funny enough,
Elmer insists that elephants cannot be blown over and goes out by himself again. However, this time, his cries for help are
somewhat ignored by the herd until they see him flying overhead! A beautiful patchwork elephant goes flying throughout the
jungle, his ears a wonderful way of transportation. It's just a wonderfully funny book and these Elmer books are just awesome.
They're all pretty funny and teach good lessons too. David McKee has a wonderful sense of that British humor and these books
are just loved in our house. I highly recommend these as a writer myself.

Washington D.C. native Tawana Moore-Cedeno presents Emotions: Black Butterfly Take Flight to Ride the Winds, an anthology
of free-verse poetry written to inspire and foster renewed appreciations for the things one likes and truly lovers. A few
poems have Christian themes, but the overwhelming message is of positive support and well-being. "Rising Sun": It is so sweet,
Your glory / Magnified from on high. / Shining down upon your children, / Each new morn justified. / Your gentle dawnings
/ Illuminate darkness / And quietly turn night to day, / Brightly lighting our paths / So that we may find our way.

This book is one of the BEST book I ever read. It is very imaginative. The story is about the time Neil Armstrong set foot
on the moon. Almost everythig is true but the part the author talks about the crew seeing aliens on the moon. It is mostly
true and very well written. Most of the characters are also real. I like this book very much because it is on my favorite
subject (astronomy) and the fact that it is written on a famous achivement of all mankind. In my class book list this book
is still topping my list. After reading this I am longing to read all of the "CLASSIFIED" series books so I am ordering
them. The other titles of this classified series also sound nearly as interesting as this book. I highly recommend this
book to all the people interested in this subject.

The book begins with an introduction that discusses risk management, why it's needed and what it is. I felt that this material was too basic for an advanced book, but the subsequent chapters quickly got to the heart of the subject by providing the details for an implementation life cycle of an effective risk management process that consists of:
(1) Implementation
(2) Planning
(3) Identification
(4) Analysis
(5) Managing risks
(6) Monitoring
What makes this book valuable for real world practitioners are the pragmatic advice for developing a risk management process that is based on the lessons learned by the author and best practices. In fact, there are over 250 such lessons learned. These alone make the book worthwhile for even the most experienced practitioner because there are sure to be many that you may not have considered. In addition to the best practices, the author provides pitfalls common to risk management and how to avoid them.
Another aspect of this book that adds value is the use of readily available tools, such as Microsoft Excel, and popular simulation software (CrystalBall) to reinforce the techniques that are described in the book. Overall this is one of the best books on risk management that I own because it goes into deep detail and coves advanced topics. It also is practical instead of theoretical, which sets it apart from most risk management books.
