Good Concept.

I like the concept of explaining a particular technique, then showing how the same technique was used to make several different ATCs. Instructions are clear and artwork examples are beautiful and inspiring. Some materials may be difficult for some readers to purchase, however.

A beautiful work of Americana
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-12-08
Full-color, pen & ink portraits by Robert Crumb of 36 early great blues singers and musicians, including Blind Lemon Jefferson, Charley Patton, Son House, Mississippi John Hurt, Memphis Minnie, and groups such as Cannon's Jug Stompers and the Mississippi Sheiks. In the manner of baseball card, back of each card contains a short bio written by Stephen Calt. Crumb's portraits capture the humanity and individuality of each performer. Highly recommended to blues collectors, Crumb fans, and to young people who first encountered the blues in movies such as "Ghost World." This set of 36 3"x4" cards was originally issued by Eclipse in the late 1995, then later published with a more colorful box by Denis Kitchen.

Digimon TCG Book
Helpful Votes: 5 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2001-06-19
For Digimon fan(atics) like me, this book is very helpful. Not so much for the "let's see if I got this card" kind of thing. It's more of a pictorial reference for me. Plus, if you just want to "have" the cards without spending too much money, they're all right here. A peek at the new cards is in the back, including Season 2 Digimon. In all honesty, this book is already outdated because all new sets are out. If you're looking for quick picture reference, this is the book for you.

Funny and Enjoyable
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-06-03
This is a book about baseball cards, primarily ones issued during the 1950s and 1960s, and the players on the cards. However, it is not to be confused with a serious baseball card book. Most of the cards/players profiled are rather obscure, yet the book is quite funny and enjoyable.

On each page of the book there is an image, or images, of a baseball card, and the authors' commentary about the card and/or player in question. Oftentimes the comments have as much to do with the authors' childhood impressions as the actual player. Other times the comments are strictly related to the player or card, but are almost always comical.

If you grew up as a baseball fan, if you love the lighter side of baseball, or if you have nostalgia for the long-lost days of youthful summers spent flipping cards and riding your bike, then this book will appeal to you.
