Buy this RPG
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2003-12-02
I picked this game up a little while ago. It seems that RPG's based around the end of the world are becoming fairly common. Even in my collection I've got two or three. Most of them take place after the Rapture, or the War in Heaven. They've got angels and demons running amok, or the supernatural is absent as humanity is left to wallow in anguish at the loss of God's grace. This one is different.

It takes place before the War in Heaven. Events are ramping up for the apocalypse. Hell isn't here yet, but it's coming.

In the game you take on the role of a Sentinel, a warrior of God. Your character has been chosen by an Archangel and gifted with the powers of Divinity to aide in the fight against the Infernal Legion.

I was a little concerned about this game being too preachy. It deals with religious themes, but has no hidden agenda. The Christian themes are there to heighten the mythological tension, to make things more real to the players, not to convert the masses.

All in all, I give this a 5 for 5. It is well written, the mechanics are smooth and simple, and it has some really striking artwork. A must buy.

Even better than the Wraith Player's Guide
Helpful Votes: 6 out of 6 total.
Review Date: 2000-02-10
Don't be fooled by the title- although it focuses on the dark side of every Wraith, this outstanding book contains tons of important information on all sorts of subjects- from exactly what your Eidolon IS, and when it comes into play, to roleplaying romance and love.

Other important topics covered include exactly how Castigation affects your Shadow- and while your Shadow is by definition your adversary, the isn't always your enemy. There is a lot more to Psyche/Shadow interaction than just "I'm the Good Guy, he's the Bad Guy."

Every Circle of Wraiths should have this one- you owe it to yourselves... and to your Shadows. :)

Review Date: 1998-11-19
As someone who helped playtest this module I just have to say it really adds something back to the Ravenloft setting that some of the recent modules have been lacking. DMs looking for an excellent challenge for mid to high level parties need to get this adventure and do mean things to good people!

11 great Mythos tales

Edward P. Berglund is an exceptional editor and writer whose DICIPLES OF CTHULHU (both the earlier edition and the revised later version) are essential for lovers of "Yog-Sothothery" and eldrich tales. Berglund has developed his own niche, an area of Oregon, as a setting for his stories. After reading these eleven tales, you will wish there were eleven more.

Extra-Detail for Any Campaign
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2004-08-16
This is a great little book that supplies extra-detail on Gnolls that should be valuable to any DM. Included are a sample lair and some fine pointers on how Gnolls act and live, as well as what's important and what's not. The Survivor's Tale, while a little gruesome, is particularly insightful to a state of mind that a DM could easily gloss over by just looking at Hit Die and other stats.

A save a plane adventure
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 4 total.
Review Date: 1999-06-22
Suitable for somewhat low level characters yet they have a chance to help save a plane from destruction. This in itself is a definite plus point. If your party consists of hack and slashers and they are not powered up with magic items or levels, my guess is that they will croak fast. If your party can think and plan, they should survive this adventure with minimum *miracles* on the DM's part. It also involves Malar, a FR power, so it might be useful to FR DMs.
