This book shows wonderful games amd treats for American Girl Parties that you can have at home. It even gives information about why and what kind of parties Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha and Molly had. My sisters said that they both want to have parties about their American Girl.

My daughter loves books and especially Arthur books. I asked her if she would rather have Princess books or Arthur books and she said Arthur books. I was really surprised because she loves everything Princess. I love these books also. They are the perfect lenght and teach lessons. I got her two more for Christmas, I want to get her all of them.

Muffy is throwing a Spring Fling party! Arthur, Francine, Binky, Fern, Buster, Muffy, and The Brain play games like the Egg Push and the Bunny Hop (sack races). Beautifully illustrated in pastels and bright colors, Arthur's Jelly Beans is a fun book celebrating spring and Easter (although Easter isn't mentioned). On the back of the book is Arthur's Jelly Bean Game featuring a game board. All you need to play is a penny and a few jelly beans as game pieces!

I thought that this book was great. We checked it out from the library and my six year old son has chosen the teddy bear party. He was not too thrilled with the bowls of porage cakes, but all the other ideas are great and really get the kids involved.

This is a great book. I only got it yesterday, but it has lots of wonderful ideas. Although this is really a kids do it yourself book, it can also be used by parents, or party planners like myself. It has a pile of themes, and each one includes invitations party hats, crafts decoration, favor and games. Most of the party hats, favors and games are those you can make from paper and other things around the house. Most of the crafts can be used as games, and many can also be used as favors. I always like Kathy Ross's books, but this one was GREAT!

My six and three year old fight over who gets to take this book to bed. Thanks to all the outstanding food, game, craft and treat ideas in this book, we've survived (and enjoyed) a rodeo round-up, dinosaur dig and super hero invasion. It's the best party planning book out there, for kids or adult parties (the holiday party ideas are low stress, high fun!). If you have kids, you have to have this book! Order your copy now!

I absolutely love the creative ideas Celebrate has to offer. If you have children or just want fun ideas for your family get-togethers this is a must have!

This is a great card game to play. It's addictivem and completely humorous. The whole point of this wonderful card game is do things and buy things (slack) that relieve you from the stress of your job. The cards range from wholesome things, like a cat, and cup-of-noodles to more wild things like nookie, beers, and "significant others". This game is a laugh riot to play with a group of friends, I prefer to play it by spouting out the hilarious quotes from each card as I play them. This game is a must for people in their late teens through their twenties, a complete blast!

I purchased this book for my sons first birthday and he just loved it. It had many vibrant colors and lots of textures he could rub his fingers on.

Bright and colorful pages make this book loads of fun for any little one's special day. Elmo celebrates his birthday with the whole Sesame Street gang from Bert and Ernie to Zoe and Cookie Monster. Each page has a touch and feel texture, i.e. Elmo's nose is soft and velvety, Ernie's box has "straw" inside. The pages are large and sturdy, a great board book to have in your child's library or give as a birthday gift to a Sesame Street fan!

My mom is Nancy Fyke - one of the authors. I have had a lot of the parties in the book (as have my brothers and the kids of the other 2 authors). I was just talking to a friend about my birthday parties when I was little, and quite frankly, there were awesome. This book is full of good ideas. I'm 22 now and I can't imagine trying to plan a kid's party from scratch.

So, from personal experience - these parties rock! (I think my name is on the 'jail' under the cowboy party!)

I have used this book many times for each of my 3 kids' birthday parties. It is full of great games, clever invitations, and funny party ideas. Definitely a must-buy!

It is very important to me to stay a "cool" mam-ma to my grand-girls! This book was a real winner! I was able to give a great party for my girls that I took most of the credit for. Book made it soooo simple....and it was so much fun. A must have tool for having fun!

This is a great book for planning parties for pre-teen and teen girls. The ideas are well-thought out and easy to do. We're going to do the spa party for my daughter's 12th birthday. I might try a variation of the spy party for my son. If you ever feel like you're at a loss when planning a party, get this book. You don't even have to do all the ideas for any of the parties -- doing even part of any of the parties will make things really fun.

Books that encourage observation and thinking are always in demand with me as gifts for children. Mystery Mansion is a nice combination of both. The book is difficult enough that several people can work on it simultaneously. Those who enjoy this book will eventually graduate to the I Spy . . . and Where's Waldo? books.

This book can be enjoyed as a prereader by spotting the hidden creatures and characters, or as a reader by locating the hidden letters and messages as well. I suspect that it will be most appealing to 6-7 year olds who have a taste for slightly scary situations and creatures. The potential discomfort is lessened by seeing Aunt Jeanne hiding on each page that involves the mansion. The creatures are not really threatening, they just look ugly.

Aunt Jeanne sends a rhyming invitation to her Victorian mansion after she returns from a trip. Although she's not there, she leaves other rhyming clues to direct her nephew Tommy. She has Tommy all over the house and grounds, and into secret places as well.

Her rhymes are pretty simple, but are probably like what someone's actual aunt might write.

"On the trip I collected/My own little zoo./I chose all the creatures/Especially for you."

"I am the cheese,/You are the mouse . . . ."

"Find the next note/And your tour will begin . . . ."

The main challenge is to find all the creatures. These include bats, snakes, frogs, lizards, mice, fish, butterflies, and birds. Be sure to count ones that are reflections or appear as sculptures. Use the cover and all the pages. There are a lot to count. For younger children, you'll probably have to help them keep count.

You also have three mystery characters to look for.

In addition, throughout the pages there are hidden letters which you can unscramble for a message. On another page, there are letters for unscrambling a second message.

The answers are in the back of the book, for those who want to check their work.

To me, the book's main drawback is that after it has all been figured out it will not be as much fun. But it will probably still be pulled out from time to time as memory fades. When it hasn't been pulled out in a year, I suggest that you ask your child's permission to give the book to someone else for whom it will be brand new. Perhaps a cousin would enjoy it.

After you have finished having fun with this, I suggest that you think about staging your own version of the book at home for a special occasion. You could have cut-outs or decals of little creatures to scatter all over the house. Just be sure that you keep a map of where you put them, so they can be retrieved later if any are missed.

Look closely at all that is around you to see the wonder of our world.

Let the games begin..... Michael Garland has authored a marvelous interactive book that youngsters will be crazy about. A letter to the reader at the beginning of the book explains just what you need to do as you travel from room to room with Tommy. There are lots of things to find in each amazing bold, busy and vivid illustration...letters that spell out a secret message, special words, three magical creatures and over 400 frogs, butterflies, lizards, snakes, mice bats, fish and birds, as well as Aunt Jeanne who is never far away from the action. Some are in plain sight and easily seen, some are hidden and still others are camouflaged and disguised and take a little work to find. Each charming rhyming note tells you where to go and what to look for and the storyline itself gives helpful hints. You'll need pencil, paper and patience, but this treasure hunt is worth it and ends with a big surprise and a creative answer key to check your work. Perfect for youngsters 9-12, kids 5-8 will enjoy the book just as much but will need a little help to solve the puzzle. Mystery Mansion is a great activity for a rainy day or a long car or plane trip and will keep children busy and engaged for hours.

I really enjoyed this book. The story was very entertaining. A perfect summer afternoon novel. I really liked Darcy Lou's relationship with her mother. I also liked Lizzie's comments all throughout the book and the introduction and the info about the 'author' were very funny too. I liked this book very much. I would definitly recomend it!!

This book is awesome. It shows that mother's and daughters not only fight but get along too. Although Darcy Lou may seam to have a "perfect" relationship with her mother, the rest of the book is quite solid. It shows that kids aren't the only ones who make mistakes and somethimes the thing you need most is right under your nose. It also shows that you don't have to have lots of money to be absolutly rich. A group of people who care about is worth much more. Unlike money, they'll always be there and they are unreplacable. You must read this sweet little book!
