This book is really good for beginners.Contains project patterns for those just starting out and for those who are ready to do something a little more challenging.A great way to start miniature decor for their doll's house.

This is one of my favorite books on collecting miniature fire trucks and ambulances. I have used this book to keep track of what I collect and it is very informative on many models and manufacturers through 1985. I do not know of any other book that has been researched and complete concerning the collecting of emergency vehicles. I recommend this book to anyone that shares this great hobby...

Mary Engelbreit's There Is No Friend Like a Sister is for anyone that has every had a sister. To give this book as a gift to your own sister is to give her your love that she can hold in her hand (literally). This beautiful little book can express what you may not be able and make your sister feel like the special person she is.

First published in 1982 this all-new 2000 2nd edition of miniature lamps grew out of and far beyond the first book. 256 pages with over 600 examples and history. Price guide is now included. Up to date at last!

I've been collecting dolls for a few years and just recently started to collect the miniature sewing mannequins. I found this book to be extremely helpful with pricing and what to look for. Great pictures too.

The photos alone in this book are worth the $75 purchase price. There are hundreds of examples of murrine shown, varying from simple & complex glass canes (such as those used in millefiori paperweights) to fabulous little glass portraits of famous people of various eras. The pictures in this book are so clear that even if this book was the first edition, published in Italian, a reader could still use the information to improve their cane-making skills. The text discusses the origins of glass and the histories of the great Italian glass houses up to 1924. The careers of a number of individual workers are followed, with many examples of work from various periods in their lives. The construction and assembly of glass canes is explained, with lavish examples of the various components used to create both "complex" and "portrait" canes. All in all, at $75 this book is a bargain for anyone seriously interested in pursuing this aspect of glass art.

My high school librarian gave me a copy of this book when I requested a selection of short stories that I could use to teach my reading students the skill of inferring and drawing conclusions. Inferring requires the reader to collect clues, then to bring them together to draw a conclusion. This book has 100 deliciously malicious little mysteries that are an average of four pages long; easily doable in one class period. And, because they are very short, students can easily reread to confirm their hunches. Great for doing predicting exercises, as well.

Janet Granger's book is excellent for beginners as it lists materials used to work her designs and explains basic techniques (including stitching, finishing and blocking). The 25 carpet designs are rated simple, experience needed and for experiencd stitchers. Each design has a sharp color photograph and easy to follow color chart (no symbols). Measurements are imperial and metric and there is a metric conversion table. Colors are Appleton's shade numbers with a description of each shade. Designs include: medallion, circular, paisley, rose, Berlin, Italian, Regency, Chinese, Bokhara, Persian and Aubusson rugs.

Terrific book for learning how to paint miniatures (great step-by-step instructions with illustrations,) and also learning the interesting history of the medium. Although I myself am a long-time artist of miniatures, I picked up a lot of tips and tricks.

I have had dogs all my life, but never Miniature Pinschers, so I decided to check them out before buying one. This book has EVERYTHING you will need to know- and she writes in a very easy to read and understand style. Definitely read this if you are getting a Min Pin- your pupper will thank you for it!
