Hand Games Books

I am extremely pleased with this book. Of all the math-centers books I have, I keep coming back to this one. (As well as the K-1 version, which I also highly recommend.) The centers are easy to set up and don't take any weird, hard-to-find materials. Also, they are not very complicated so my students understand how to do them after me showing them just once. The centers are also really relevant-- relating perfectly to the standards I teach. The students enjoy the hands-on math action and I see how much it helps the students get a deeper understanding. I highly recommend this book!

This book is a must have if you are in any kind of playgroup with two or more childern. The ideas are endless that you will get from this book. The only problem is getting all the parents to agree on a craft to do.

Ascension's Right Hand is a book about the allies of mages. It is a rather old book before Mage Second Addition but it still has a lot useful information. The book explores the personalities behind the Allies/Familiar Background of Mages. Allies for all the Traditions, Technocracy, Marauders, and Nephandi were detailed. There was a slight emphasis on the allies of the Traditions but that was expected. At the time of the release, they were the only PC-friendly group available. A lot of the material regarding normal human companions is not new but the information on supernatural custos, like familiars, is really useful. This book is great for people interested in playing a toned down game where there is less of an emphasis on destroying things with kewl powerz, but one that focuses more on survival and loyalty.

I only just discovered Lena Corwin yesterday and was so inspired by the cover that I ran right out to the bookstore to get it. There are a variety of techniques with simple, detailed instructions and beautiful pictures. I am so inspired and can't wait to start printing.

Most of all I want to say that I love the books I have bought. I have learned so much from them and it is so wonderful that your books can help so many people laern the art of reborning. I found this book to be extreamly easy to follow and understand, wereas other books took it for granted that everyone was just born with a loom in hand. I haven't tried weaving before, but this book was not only helpful, but also inspirational as well. It's full of color pictures of weavings & weavers from all over the world. It gives the little details that many others overlook. No matter how you weave, this book will help. It includes the patterns for many types of cloth, and shows how to make your own loom, even a cardboard one!

80% of the problems are declarer play. You are shown only dummy and you hand, and are given the bidding and the first card or first few tricks and asked what to do.

To answer the question you must:

1. use the bidding and play to place unseen honor cards
2. use the bidding and play to determine the defenders hand patterns
3. visualize what is going to happen later in the play

There are a few squeezes, but most problems don't require advanced techniqe.

Based on your choice you will be presented alternative card plays and asked how to deal with them.

The hands are not striaght forward as they require some thought about the significance of what you discover. You may have to play for dropping the king 4-1 because you dont have enough entries or pushers to pick it up onside.

This is the type of book that one should reread every couple of years until you are solving 95% of the problems.

My five year old son received this for Christmas and adores it. Since the book works with dry erase markers, he can erase a page when done and complete it another time. It is simple, fun play that is quiet and requires no batteries - always a good thing.

One word of caution: the markers stain clothing so if your child wiggles like mine, make sure they are wearing a paint smock or old clothing.

This book is well-written and offers a variety of hands-on manipulatives to reinforce teaching objectives. The material is easy to present and easy for the children to remember. I have found it to be the case that one letter can be taught for a week without running short of ideas or concepts for your little one. A great buy!!!

The ideas in this book are simply wonderful to make kids read and respond to literature in a fun way. The book is divided into four main sections, each one devoted to one of the four literary elements: character, plot, setting, and theme. For each section, it provides several ideas to have students elaborate on the given literary element. Although each project is exemplified with a specific chapter book, the ideas can be adapted to other books as well. In fact, it provides titles of other chapter books that can be worked with the same projects. In my case, with second graders, I have even used some of the activities with picture books.

This book contains clear instructions, diagrams and templates to make the projects. Some of the activities included are: making a comic strip, a 3D plant-shaped graphic organizer, accordion books, a "character's personality pizza", a "time travel machine" (kids love that!), a board game, a tourist brochure, a treasure chest and many more.

If you want to make your kids read and develop love for reading, you must try this book.
