I first became aware of Temari when I saw some balls on display by a lady offering lessons on how to make them. The lessons were $65.00. I decided to check Amazon.com before I gave up learning it on my own. I ordered this book and was thrilled with the results. The instructions are very easy to follow with lots of drawings showing exactly what to do. I was successful on my first try and I am delighted with my new hobby. I have just ordered a second book by Diana Vandervoort and can't wait to get it. By the way, the balls that I had seen on display were all from this book.

A great way to teach yourself this craft

As far as I can tell, I own every Japanese and English book on Temari currently being published. This is the book I recommend to beginners who want to learn this wonderful craft. It would also be good for someone who knows a moderate amount already, as it has some advanced skills.

A Great Beginners Book!

I first was introduced to temari while channel surfing, and stumbling onto the Carol Duval show on HG network when Diana Vandervoort was demonstrating her craft. I could not wait to get my hands on her book and try it for myself-mostly because I could not believe something so elegant and complex could be so easy to do! This turned out to be one of the easiest crafts I have ever tried, and I have tried my hand at A LOT of things. The photos are truly inspiring, and the instructions are some of the easiest to understand and follow. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book, and new patterns.

What depth!

Review Date: 2007-01-31
I agree with the majority of reviewers here, but I think you have to be an intelligent reader to appreciate it. For example, on page 20, in golf the author discourages distracting activities while opponents are playing, but you could disturb opponents, especially musically competent ones, while you yourself are playing, "by constantly whistling a phrase with one note - always the same note - wrong." In the footnote he actually writes the musical notation of a suggested phrase, the horn motiv from Wagner's Ring, with the second note changed from an A to a D# with a glissando (sliding up to the high note). I laughed out load before I even tried to play the phrase on the guitar. I realize that some won't see the humor here, but what incredible depth in the descriptions of these tactics!

Humourous, but bounded by time and culture...

This tome offers a complete introduction to the theory and practice of gamesmanship. Though some of the ploys are outdated, if properly executed, these gambits will most certainly put the gamesman in the one-up position. The coverage of countergamesmanship, while sparse, is essential reading for gamesman at any level.

This book instantly turned me into a Potter fiend, and I subsequently tracked down first editions of all four -manship books. This is dry, deadpan British humour at its absolute finest - I've never seen an American writer come close, except for Mark Twain.

I came across this at some rummage sale, and once I started reading it I was instantly hooked on Potter's dustbowl-dry wit and bought all his other books. Each is outstanding, but this is still the best. For the uninitiated, this has nothing to do with playing games; it has everything to do with attitude, games people play with and against one another in life, and poking fun at our egos and self importance...and the egos and self-importance of others. There's no explaining Potter's humor - you either love it, or you don't get it at all. I love it. Even the 'diagrams' are absolute screams. Only Wodehouse was as funny or funnier than Potter.

I came online looking for more of these books, I am shocked and appalled that they do not exist! how upsetting! i am one of those people that hits a couple used book stores every 6 - 18 months and purchases 300$ worth of books (25% and i want 75% as chances) this was a chance book but darnit if it wasnt an awsome book!! I am so upset there isnt more of them!! in fact, i recomend this book to NOONE! DONT READ THIS BOOK!!!! you will just want to read the sequal! and guess what; turns out there IS NONE! I had to say that yes, the book was geared toward youth. but the author did do a very good job of expanding beyond that, with exellant and diversified characters and an apallingly interesting story line, i would buy the entire series if it existed!! Like i said, i am EXTREMELY upset i read the book because if leaves off perfect for a sequal, it was designed to have a sequal! and it doesnt have one! its extremely infuriating!! because it leaves off right in the middle of the story. leaves you with a hollow feeling, knowing you will never know what happens next.

What an appalling shame there isnt more of these!!

Forget about Photon the book, or the books. Where is Photon the TV show? Where is the deluxe 18-disc leatherbound autographed special edition DVD set of this legendary show that only the few and the cool can recall?

Where is the jaw-dropping, I-can't-believe-I-just-watched-that TV show, where the bad guys used to do impressive back flips after being shot with the Photon gun? How did an 80s light-gun game with that chunky helmet birth a TV show and spin-off tie-in books, no less? Why has Bhodi Li not reappeared in one of the newer Star Wars movies?

Why hasn't the soundtrack appeared on a 2-CD set? With that action-scene music and the background vocals going 'Photon...photon...photonphoton' [dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun]

I remain confident that Photon will see the light of day on DVD, and should, in fact, be put in a space capsule and launched out of the earth so that our legacy as humans can be known to all.

Yes this is a great book! Did you know that it was based on a game that I LOVED to play.. Just like the main character. But furhter more, Lord Baethen in the book was one of the founders of the original game. He was also my friend. Also, I have found other books in the series.. So I hope to get them all soon..

Great SCI-Fi Book, full of action, and the effects of war on our young.

True to the Game was the Original Hood Love Story Classic. Quadar and Gena were the Adam and Eve of this whole Urban Street Good Girl & Bad Boy love story. I read this book many many many years ago and can still remember when I would go around saying "that is so blue." When Q got shot I cried like he was my man and the bittersweet ending left me feeling like this is really real. This book is a classic and an inspiration to all books that came after it.

She did write a part II but I hated the part two. I know you gonna get the sequel if you cop this one, I did. I wish I hadn't though cause this classic should have been left alone. Yeah I am going to get the third one, two and I hope it is better then the second one. Doubt it, but if you only get this first one to me that's all you really need. Just close the book, hold it to your heart, wipe away your tears and let out a deep sigh. And let it end for you right there.

Loved the book !!!

I first bought this book as I considered opening a vintage goods shop with my mother. It was such a good resource, we each wanted our own copy. I found the information to be very useful as we mapped out our business plan and eventually opened our little shop.
The shop eventually closed when we had to give up our location, and cancer claimed Mom's life. I have been feeling the urge to have a shop again lately, and wanted to re-read the book. Apparently I've lent it to someone who never returned it to me! Mom's copy was nowhere to be found either, so I ordered another copy. A small price to pay for the information and guidance imparted within.

I just found this charming, useful and inspirational book on sale at a local book store. This collaborated effort by a Victoria Magazine contributor and successful small business owners like Debby DuBay, retired United States Air Force officer, was absolutely inspirational and had so many useful tips for a new business owner such as myself. I found information on my business plan and the small business administration, etc. In addition, I tried to contact many of the contributors to the book, but most I could not contact. I boldly contacted Ms. DuBay who enthusiastically provided me with many helpful tips on my new business! I love this book and highly recommend it for all! It is a timeless book!

Purchased this book in Limoges Antiques Shop, Andover, MA from one of the contributors; Debby Dubay, ret, USAF and author of her own series on collecting Limoges porcelain. This book is remarkable and if you are considering starting your own business or turning your passion into a profession this book is a must. Debby DuBay credits The Business of Bliss and Victoria Magazine for her success - but her input was invaluable with the success of this publication.

The information provided about the Small Business Association is the best and I received a low documentation loan following the outline in this book! I owe my success to Janet and Ms DuBay. Hey I think your book absolutly rocks!
I loved looking at all the interesting old things that were around when my mom was younger. All the colorful pages, and pictures really grabbed my attention while looking through the book. I loved seeing all the different prices for all the different items you have in your book. It really makes me see that old things really do have value. Even if you don't know much about Roy Rogers, this book takes you through his life so that you will have a better understanding of him and who he was.
I'm 13 so I don't really like to take the time to look through a book and read it from cover to cover. But this book really interested me with it's humor, pictures, facts, and stories.
If you are at all interested in learning, studying, or collecting Roy Roger things I strongly suggest that you read through this book. It will greatly help you to know what Roy Roger things are valuable.

This book provides so much info on things gamemasters need to know to to write a cool Chaos adventure. Norsca, daemons, beastmen, more nasties, and mutations and cults. So much fun. Great to read and slightly disturbing. Highly recommended.

This is the best book about Chaos in Warhammer written to this day.

I have read most if not ALL the books about Chaos in Warhammer Fantasy. I read the two tomes of Realms of Chaos. I also read Complete Liber Chaotica, WHFB Beast of Chaos and WHFB Hordes of Chaos. This one is by far the most complete on the topic and the most pleasant and interesting to read followed closely by Complete Liber Chaotica. I cannot recommand you this book enough for every fan of Warhammer Fantasy (RPG players or NOT). Even the readers interested by Fantastic universe could find this reading interesting.

Tome of Corruption add also a lot of new content concerning Chaos that have never been written so far in other Warhammer books. It push the topic much more further and embrace it widely. It cover in detail many old and new aspects.

You will find in this book the following chapters:

A first Part: The Enemy Within

1- Chaos in the Old World

2- The lost and the damned

3- Catalogue of Change (MORE than 150 mutations. A general random table and 4 random tables adapted for each Chaos Gods.)

4- Cults of Chaos (It feature also cultist career for each four Chaos Gods)

5- Objects of Chaos

A second Part: Shadows of Chaos

6- The Places between: Life in the wilderness

7- Beasts of Chaos (and the template to play one as PC...)

8- Menagerie of the Strange

9- Defenders of the Empire (Some words about the Witch Hunters and the other enemies of Chaos)

Part III: The Chaos Wastes

10- The Chaos Wastes (The Landscape of Chaos)

11- Norsca (The Norsca region and his folks and their culture are explain in details. Template are given to play a norse and specific career related to norse people are also offered.)

12- Hordes of Chaos (A distinction is made between the Norsemen and the other people who follow more directly and specificaly the Chaos Gods. Template are presented to play a men of the Hordes of Chaos such as the Kurgan)

13- Slaves to Darkness (This chapter have the following section that every Chaos worshiper is looking for: Champion of Chaos, Chaos Sorcerers, Rewards of Chaos, Retinues. Basicly, this section explain the path followed by those who worship the Chaos Gods. It give the career associated to this path and the advantages and dangers it represent.)

14- Chaos Armory

Part IV: Realm of Chaos

15- The Ruinous powers (The four Gods of Chaos)

16- Beyond the Wastes of Chaos (Walk toward the Eye like no other book have brought you before. Then enter into the Realms of Chaos themselves. Sanity is for the weaks!)

17- Chaos Sorcery (New spells, tables and background diging about magic)

18- Legion of Chaos (The stats blocks about the Major and Lesser Chaos Gods Daemons... Your player will be able to fight for the best and the worst the Bloodthirster, the Keepers of Secrets, the Horror of Tzeentch and all the other classic Daemons commonly associated to the Chaos Gods. This section also explain how to design your own new Daemons and give you the proper random table to build them)

19- Masters of Chaos

Great Setting Material
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2007-05-14
Tome of Corruption is all about flavor. The book is long on setting material and mercifully short on rules and even those still amount to flavor and setting material. Running a long-term game with many of the rules included would be difficult or downright impossible. The amount of raw power that is available to the players and GMs is huge. Some of the more powerful features, in an effort to reflect their abilities in the tabletop version of Warhammer, would slaughter an entire army of PCs. Many of the careers are also ridiculously powerful.
Gamemasters are going to want to be extremely careful in what they allow players to take from the book, but for anyone who wants to run a high-powered epic game the Tome of Corruption provides everything and more.

The Tome of Corruption is also a great read. For those who don?t like rules the mechanics are presented in such a manner as to be almost totally separated from the setting material. Unlike many supplements the point of the book is not just to create more rules but to add to the setting.

If you can't use it in a WFRP game then it is a great idea mine for other games or for pleasure reading.

If you have kids and they play sports, you've got to read this book. Sports appear to be the 'best' way to help develop strong, intelligent, independent kids. But sports become complicated and messy when parents get too involved. Not Just For Coaches!

I thought the book was insightful even for 'non coaches' like myself. It's applicable to anyone in any type of leadership position. Aberman and Anderson use terrific examples to demonstrate important facets of strong leadership. Through their 'stories' you see the significance of knowing who you are before you can effectively lead others.

If you have kids and they play sports, you've got to read this book. Sports appear to be the 'best' way to help develop strong, intelligent, independent kids. But sports become complicated and messy when parents get too involved. This is a great book to help give any parent the insight and perspective they need to help themselves and their kids, whether they coach or not. Enjoy!

As a leader in a corporate environment, I found the book inspiring. It explains how important working with 'emotional intelligence' is for yourself and those around you. Whether you are a coach, a parent, an athlete, or a leader such as myself, you are always dealing with more than what you 'signed up for'. Figuring out "The Other Stuff", is critical for success.

I had been looking for this Alice in wonderland tarot for a while and
no wonder I had trouble finding it, it's out of print. But luckily one of Amazon's vendor's had a deck for sale. Love the deck hated the "out of print" price.

Lots of fun and a great collector's item

I am an extreme fan of Alice in Wonderland and that is first and foremost the reason why I "had" to have this deck.

I am not a fan of the traditional Rider-Waite cards, so I will not be using this cards too often for card readings, BUT, I found it very funny as to how the characters of Alice in Wonderland were incorporated into the traditional RW style. Even more amusing was the fact that the Cups, Swords, Wands, and Pentacles had been changed in the oh so obviously Alice in Wonderland imagery of Hats, Flamingoes, Peppermills, and Oysters. Still, as the traditional imagery of the Tarot is used, this deck will work for begginers.

Interestingly though, it's quite remarkable as to how so many of the Alice characters fit very well with the Major Arcana. Some examples are:

The Fool~The Mad Hatter
Death~The Queen of Hearts
The Hermit~The Dormouse
The Devil~The Jabberwocky
Wheel of Fortune~The circle of animals that are running around after Alice's flood of tears
Judgement~The White Rabbit

The more familiar you are with the Alice stories, the more you will laugh as you recognize the scenes on every card. This is a definite must for any fan of Alice in Wonderland, even if you don't read Tarot cards.

Wonderful deck for those who love Alice In Wonderland and Tarot Cards in general. It might take a while to get used to them because of the unique imagery.

I bought this deck because I'm a fan of Alice. The pictures are based on the book, not Disney, so they incorporate characters like the Duchess, and the lion and unicorn. It is a Rider-Waite variant, and it would probably confuse people because the suits are different(peppermills, flamingos, hats, and oysters), as mentioned in other reviews. The illustrations are not quite what I expected, but are still very cool. If you collect tarot cards, or are an Alice fan, you'd appreciate these. Otherwise, it would be best to get another deck. I personally, however, love them.

A very nice addition to all collectors. This deck is based on Lewis Carroll's classic childrens tale. It is not the Disney version, however. The illustrations are based on the original renderings by Sir John Tenniel. This is a devoted and loving tribute to the classic. It fits well within the system of classical Rider-Waite Tarot.

This set works well for younger "Alice" fans. All of the major trumps translate well to the traditional symbolism. The Mad Hatter as the Fool, Alice as the High Priestess, the Queen of Hearts as Death, and the White Rabbit as Judgement. All resonate with the architypes accordingly. One familiar with the story can relate rather well.

Carroll used a psychological approach to his strange fable and it has since become a perennial classic through the years. I was personally confused and frightened at times with the story. Seeing it translated in a tarot deck is more effective for myself.

As for reading with it, the suite cards are changed to peppermills/wands/clubs, flamingos/swords/spades, hats/cups/hearts, and oysters/pentacles/diamonds. This can be confusing to some. The colors are not as vibrant as one would expect. The Rider-Waite based palette is paid tribute to. If you have a preference for Lewis Carroll's work, then this is a tarot deck for you. Children would also get some inspiration from this deck. Otherwise, there are many other places to begin.
