A FORCE to be reckoned with....Review Date: 2004-07-10
From the pictures to the rarely seen prototypes, this book has it all. It is warm and inviting to the reader, not like some rigid price guides, and has clear, crisp photos. The compilation of this book alone is a triumph in itself! A book that the collecting community has been waiting for.

Covers some bad openingsReview Date: 2007-09-20
There are few problems though. It covers a few openings that are not very strong or unsound. For instance, Benko Gambit, Benoni, which isn't blacks best response to d4, Dutch and Torre Attack. All that I mentioned are playable, but they are not the best openings and you are not going to see them that often. I've played thousands of games online and over the board and I have seen the Dutch twice, Torre Attack about 3 times Benoni only when I played it and I've never had someone play the Benko Gambit against me.
Other thing is opening theory is wishy washy. What was playable in 1991 maybe not be played now. So this book is out dated. I am sure the information in this book is usable no matter what but after time GM's turn to different variations. Which makes the opening even more complicated if you want to keep up with the time. The best thing to do is to find openings and variations to that opening that you are comfortable with and play them no matter what the current feeling is about that opening or the variation of that opening.

A Wonderful collection of annotated games by MednisReview Date: 2007-06-25
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a game collection that does a good job explaining the moves and plans involved in the games.
Super!!!Review Date: 2006-01-31
Maybe the most important subject is the move order in the opening so you'll never be playing what your oponent want to play.

When Silver Was Not EnoughReview Date: 2008-04-05
But that moment in time was a triumph of hard work and planning, a real symbol of the American Dream: a head coach making revolutionary changes in practice and game strategy; players from the battlefield of Viet Nam and the workday world, to those chasing dreams on rinks large & small throughout North America, along with a glimpse into the future through pair of teenagers - one, a phenomenal athlete from the East Coast, the other, with the blood of hockey royalty flowing through his veins.
Authors Tom and Jerry Caraccioli balance their research and interviews with game summaries to bring this special era to life, as the political Cold War was a backdrop, with friendships forged through that ice.
A touching final chapter chronicles a very special moment for head coach Murray Williamson; a January 2002 note which brought a fitting coda to the tireless work that his players never forgot.
And with this book, the team that set the stage for the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" receives a long overdue spotlight, all for themselves.
Let's see... is this really an untold story?Review Date: 2007-08-15
* I graduated from HS one year after Dean Williamson, son of Murray
* I have caddied for Walter Bush, a long-time USA Hockey official
* A friend played on a Bantam team coached by Craig Sarner, an effective forward on this silver medal squad
* I've heard many tales about Bruce McIntosh starring for my HS and later the University of Minnesota
AND....
I'D NEVER HEARD THIS STORY BEFORE. Granted I hadn't yet turned 4 when they played in Sapporo, but it isn't like this was a mystery. I read about the 1960 Olympics when I was about 10 and obviously remember where I was in 1980 (Fergus Falls, playing in a Pee Wee tournament). Why no talk about 1972?
Not only do the Caraccioli brothers do a good job of relaying the story, they also do a good job of addressing that very question.
Worth a read. You'll breeze through it quickly as it is pretty direct on covering the story without straying from topic. Even though you now how it ends - they win the silver - it is hard to put down.

I learned some very valuable tips from this book that will save me hours of heartache when training my dogs.
Whilst being absolutely rivetting reading it is also a mine of information.
Written in plain English, a true classic.
Ihave'nt read anything on this subject that comes even close.

Yes I love this deck....I am not just a collector I read and have 2 favorite decks, this being one and the other is Magickal Tarot by anthony clark both are great decks, so if I am missing something here as far as the Tarot of Ceremonial Magick somebody please clue me in!!!!~!!!
"This is The Only Book I'd Need.....Review Date: 2004-10-02
Other decks merely scratch the surface of the correspondences between the Tarot, Astrology, Kabbala and the Hebrew alphabet; however, this one goes beyond the others by delving into Enochian, and Goetic attributes of the various cards. The book's appendices also have the Enochian calls as well as the various Goetic invocations.
Lon is a Thelemite, which is demonstrated not only his use of the same names of the Major Arcana of the Thoth deck, but also by the Thelemic imagery on many of the cards. That being said, this set is a perfect accompanyment to the book of Thoth. It helps decipher some of Crowleys more cryptic divinitory meanings.
This set is for anyone who has any interest in the Hermetic Arts. Everyone, from the greenest of Neophytes, to the most adept Magi can benefit from this set.
Do yourself a favor and buy this set!
REAL MAGICK IN A BOXReview Date: 2002-04-17
The four Elemental Tablets of the Enochian system of John Dee adorn the Aces - with the Aces and Court Cards you can construct the powerful Enochian Tablet of Union. The Small Cards bear the names and sigils of all 72 Spirits of the Goetia, and the names of the 72 Qabalistic Angels of the Shemhamaphorash, and the degrees of the zodiac and days of the year sacred to these spirits. Want to project your astral body into the elemental worlds? The Aces and Court Cards display colored tattwa symbols used for that very purpose. DuQuette didn't just throw this stuff on some cards and call it Tarot. All these magical correspondences, even the colors, are organized with anal retentive perfection in strict conformity to the most revered magical and qabalistic traditions concerning the Tarot.
The accompanying book is filled with all the technical information necessary to actually begin practicing Qabalistic, Enochian, and Goetic magick. The deck/book set is in truth...REAL MAGICK IN A BOX. The first question I had to ask myself after reading it was..."Am I ready for this?"
AN EXCELLENT ORACLE AND EDUCATORReview Date: 2000-05-27
BEST DECK SINCE CICEROS' GOLDEN DAWN TAROTReview Date: 1999-08-06
Of course some decks cross over the boundaries, being visionary, including copious correspondences (not just suggestive imagery) and having their roots in a bona fide magical order.
Duquette's new deck is just such a deck; it is weighted heavily towards correspondences, so much so that its author calls it 777 (a famous book of correspondences)on cards. However it also includes very workable images which can trigger the imagination, good key words and divinatory meanings. And, it is the product of a reputable member of a magical order.
The frosting on the cake is the incorporation of the Goetic images and Enochian images.
I think this would be an excellent deck for divination (it works for me) while also conditioning the subconscious to several families of potent symbols.
I highly recommend it.

THE BEST beginning knitting book out thereReview Date: 2005-10-27
The book will show you how to cast-on, both a single cast-on method and two double cast-on methods. There are also photos of a wide variety of pattern stitches knitted using only the basic knit and purl stitches. Then the book moves onto more complicated techniques, such as increasing, decreasing, and knitting with double-pointed needles. Again, excellent photographs will guide you every step of the way.
Finally, the book includes clear, concise directions for a number of fun projects. And the projects are not all trivial, either. I especially recommend the design called "cozy knit socks", which yields an awesome pair of socks which any knitter would be proud to wear.
Whether you are a new or returning knitter, this is an essential reference book.

As collectibles, many of the pieces are worth a lot right out of the box. Each box is a suprise as to what you will find. A decent collectible if you want something harder to damage than cards, but still want to be able to play with the collectible item (as opposed to say, coins)
