this is a great beginner croquet book; the basics are explained easily and clearly. i ordered 70 of them for a croquet tournament. the delivery was early which was great and i am giving the books to the tournament players to take back home and give to their own beginner players! a great way to spread the word!
A must have rule book.

I hadn't played the game of croquet since I was a child. When I purchased a set, I decided that the small pamphlet that came with the set, did not answer all my questions on the sport. I wanted one book with good court set-up diagrams, rules for various games one can play in croquet,a glossary of terms, and perhaps some tips on techniques. I found all of this and more in Mr. Boga's book. In typical instruction books, I usually skip the "history of" chapter and get right to the "meat" of the book. I read, and finished, this chapter before realizing it. It offered some interesting tidbits that I now regal my family with in-between wacks of my mallet. This is a wonderful book for a returning croquet player like me who had forgotten just about every aspect of the game, except for the thrill of sending an opponent's ball off. For those who already have a good grap of the basics, it has additional chapters on strategy, winning the mental game, and getting better. One last bonus of this book is it's small size. It is quite easy to whip out and reference when there is a disagreement on the official rules of the game.

The Hockey News recently listed the 100 most influential people in hockey. Read "Crunch" and you'll know why Kevin Allen was on that list. An informative and entertaining book that chronicles the sport's physical side, it's a MUST read for every fan of the "Coolest Game on Earth"!

Kevin Allen shows why hockey is more than just a contact sport. He speaks of the grit and guts required to succeed in the sport. It is also well written and the style does not become burdensome. This book is great.

I also am very enthusiastic about having a copy of this book. There is information and pictures here that can't be found anywhere else.
I thought I'd provide some information about the book itself. It is a yearbook type presentation, 160 pp, glossy paper, about half color photos and about half black and white. I'd say it is about 60% images and about 40% text. Table of Contents: The Early Years 1960-1966, Growing Years 1967-1976, Beginnings of Excellence 1977-1984, Ring of Fame, Statistics. There are mini profiles of key players and coaches, 14 pp of the "Ring of Fame" (Hall of Fame.) And statistics -- 16 pp of them. (I particularly like the fact that time is spent on the very early years of the franchise. There's a picture of a game against Houston with the stands 80% empty. Got to have been a scrimmage or preseason or something.)

I love this book!Renovations done to Mile High Stadium as well as vintage photos of the Teams Uniforms and info on the Broncos Community are all covered.A rare piece of Mile high History published by the now defunct Denver based Special Productions Inc has more the look of a yearbook than a mass produced publication.A former player inquired about purchasing my copy at a recent autograph session. How often does the person signing an item offer to buy it?A very good question to ponder when considering this.A great collectors item for the true fan of the Orange Crush!

Being a big Giants fan and having received this book for Christmas I haven't stopped telling people what a wonderful read this book is. It is all there. From the creation of the team in 1925 on through the years describing in vivid detail many of the great moments in Giant history.
I never knew who the first coach was, who scored the first touchdown and first points in team history. I do now.
What it was like to be at the Polo Grounds on Pearl Harbor Day; the "Sudden Death " game with the Baltimore Colts in 1958; the Super Bowls. It all there entertaining written by a fan who has seen over 400 home games. This book is "a Keeper' for all Giant fans. I just loved it.

A book really comes alive when it's about someone you knew. Mr. Woody did a wonderful job in bringing out Chucky's finest qualities: courage, determination, friendliness, and his ability to overcome lifes obstacles. And, since this book was about more than just Chucky and tells a wonderful life-story, it adds meaning and another dimension to the great person I went to high school with. This book should be required reading for all high school students, especially athletes. Thumbs Up, Mr. Woody!

My newly-reading first grader couldn't put the book down. He finished the 47 or so pages in no time. The vocabulary was challenging, the plot interesting and the illustrations "grown up." It would be interesting to boys and girls, football fans and non-fans alike.
If your child is not reading at the 1st grade level and able to decipher a few words like "triumphant" and "defenseman", I recommend Leonard Kessler's "Kick, Pass and Run." The difficult words are one's like "receiver" or "touchdown." Would work for a younger early reader. Note that it is easier, but still about 64 pages long.

This book is so good. The dog steals football plays to make his owner's team win. They win a lot of games with his help. One day Mike told his dog not to come with him and he didn't. Guess what happened then? Read this book to figure it out. You'll love it.

This book is a great read. The format is set up in such a way that you can pick it up and read for 2 minutes or 2 hours. It plays no favorites, just gives brief recaps of the seasons each team were having, then the recap of the Egg Bowl. It is full of historical facts, good pictures, and funny little anecdotes.
When I was reading the about the early seasons and games, I felt like I was reading a list of Buildings and Streets from each campus. Many of these athletes went on to be coaches and administrators and later to have various campus landmarks named after them. It was also interesting reading some of the origins of mottos and traditions that have popped up over the years.
Hopefully there will be a revision, or a supplement that will chronicle the Egg Bowls that have and will occur after this book went to print. It would be interesting reading to have the yearly accounts of the State v. Ole Miss Basketball Rivalry. It's the oldest rivalry in the SEC.
Buy this book, it is worth the read.

Just got a copy today to give to my father as a gift. This is an instant classic with all the players and coaches we remember. Each year's meeting has a couple of pages devoted to it with game stats, a game picture or two, and even the weather conditions! Impressive stats, trivia, etc. in the appendix. The author clearly did his homework. (I noticed that he's an Ole Miss grad, but with a quick glance of the contents, I also noticed no bias -- and I'm a State alum). This will prove to be THE definitive Egg Bowl reference guide to settle disputes, wagers and possibly the occasional fist-fight. But before going to that extreme, just refer to the book, first. You'll probably find it in there! Rest assured, you'll enjoy reliving some special memories.

Elbert was really having a bad day. He desperately wanted to be on the football team, but the coach said he was too small. Then after all that, he had to go to the dentist to have 2 cavities filled. Really depressing.
On the way home from the dentist, his luck turned for the better. He discovered something really fantastic. When he gritted his teeth together he could hear a radio and it sounded as though it were playing inside his head. It was his new fillings acting as a radio receiver. He figured out how to make it louder and softer and how to change stations by rubbing his teeth together.
What a great thing to have. You could listen to the radio in class and no one would know or even in bed before going to sleep.
It wasn't until later when he was at home that he found out the most wonderful thing of all. He could hear people's thoughts.
(I used this book for booktalks in the schools and the kids really were intrigued by it.)

Elbert, a slightly-built boy, receives a filling from his dentist that is made of a new alloy. The filling acts as a receiver for radio stations at first, then develops into mind reading. This is the story of a 14 year old boy who has big dreams to play football. Because of his size, the coach doesn't even consider putting him on the team. But with injuries and Elbert's own perserverance, his dream comes true.

Best book on the split back veer that I have read (I haven't read Bill Yoeman's book on the veer yet). The book has an interesting method of line calls which provides food for thought however it's detailed explanation of the outside veer and their version of the counter option (which is different from the traditional version of the counter option).
