This book was inturiging, and totally worth 5 stars. It made me remember playing on the court with my friends.It made me remember the big ball, dribbiling on the ground, and to think that James Naismith invented it all!

This is an excellent book to have for use or reference or just plain fun! It is neatly broken down into easy to find categories and topics, making it simple for anyone to use. An excellent gift for the hoops lover.

Excellent Book! It covers all the aspects an aspiring basketball player needs to improve his game as a shooter. Touching on the basic fundamentals of shooting, this book is a must for all looking to improve their game.

Right up there with Halberstam's "The Breaks of the Game". A terrific read by a writer whom I wish would have produced more work in the following years. McCallum does a terrific job for SI today, but it's books like this that leave me wanting more from him.

For any Celtics fan of the Bird Era, this book opens doors that would have otherwise have stayed closed: we get to see the biting yet inclusive humor of the aging C's, especially McHale, as well as the overall intelligence of the team that produced a slew of future NBA coaches and GM's. This was a team to be admired and maybe even loved, despite their lack of a championship.

Good book if you want to learn about the early history of the NBA and the Minneapolis Lakers.

This was an awesome book, with many accurate pictures for this rising star. The book is very imformative.

I GREW UP WITH THE BOSTON CELTICS AND LIVED THROUGH EVERYONE OF THESE GREAT GAMES. WHEN I HEAR THE GREATEST AND MOST UNIQUE PLAY BY PLAY ANNOUNCER OF ALL TIME MAKING THE CALLS AGAIN IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. THE BOOK ALONE IS GREAT BUT THE ACCOMPNYING CD WILL PUT YOU THROUGH A RANGE OF EMOTIONS-ALL GOOD.

This book has everyone from Bill Cosby to Woody Allen talking about basketball. I've been using the books the excerpts are from as my new reading list.

I loved this book growing up. Pat Williams, who later went on to become the GM of the Orlando Magic, details the ascent of the sixers from the "9-73ers" of the early 70's to the 1983 World Champions.

Anyone who appreciates the golden era of the NBA, with all its outrageousnous (see Darryl Dawkins), will enjoy this quick read.
