Take it from a UK fanatic - this book gives you the inside scoop from players, coaches, and others close to the program. He obviously loves his subject, and it comes through in his writing. His other books are really good as well - we have all of them.

What a shock it must have been for the author of this book when it was announced earlier this year that Pat Summitt had elected not to continue the annual series against the UConn Huskies. Worse...she refused to give any specific reasons. First, because she did not discuss her schedules before they were finalized, and once they were finalized....just because. "Geno knows why," is all she says. While most Lady Vols fans stand by their coach and claim she doesn't owe anyone a reason, other fans, particularly of UConn, are rather upset, as the trash-talking between the two fan bases has gone on for years, and one side or the other could always be silenced (for a while) depending on which team won that year.
But not any more. UConn and Tennessee, the most storied rivalry in WCBB, is no more, for no better reason than that Pat Summitt doesn't like Geno Auriemma, and rather than beat him on the court and make him like it, has simply taken her ball and gone home.

I can almost hear The Eyes of Texas played by the Longhorn Band under the stadium outside the dressing room when I pick this book up. Both are an unforgettable experience. They both reverberate with spirit and history, echoing down the halls of memory. They make the heart beat a little quicker and bring a shine to the eye.

This book is simply excellent. It has photographs upon photographs and no shortage of good reading. The book is physically large enough to show the photographs in big Texas style. The story traces a remarkable coach from his childhood to the present and takes us along for the thrilling ride. If you have never heard the story of The Big Shootout, why that's reason enough to buy this book. If you know a Texas football fan, this is the present they want!

This is an excellent series for young readers. They are perfect for my second grader. He loves them all!!!

The book provided visual effects that made me feel as though I were back in "The Garden". Lazenby captured the season with key shots, statistics and critical discriptures that the fan requires with-out the opportunity to personally wittness the event. Well-done!

This book is a perfect gift for anyone who likes WVU basketball. It covers all the coaches, All-Americans and great wins in WVU basketball history up to 1998. There are also some pictures of the old Fieldhouse, now Stansbury Hall, and the Coliseum. I think that with the success of last year's Mountaineer team a new edition should be released to cover the John Beilien era at WVU

I loved reading this book with my children! First of all, the illustrations are darling! The sweet looks on the children's faces really draw the reader into the book. Children can really relate to the characters who all want to play different games at recess. They finally decide on a way in which everyone can play together and have a good time while doing so. I recommend reading this book to your own children at home as well as students in school!
