The Internet has opened up many wonderful opportunities for people to buy and sell merchandise and services online. It has become possible to make major purchases of common everyday items as well as buying those hard-to-find and hard-to-get ones! Within this last year the Internet has become the home of another traditional form of buying - auctioning. They will also feel at ease after reading this book. It will help alleviate most of the fears they may have.

The coaching offered in this book is top-notch. It's great for those wishing to participate in the buying and selling of items online through this highly visible form of marketing. Highly recommended for those persons conducting a business such as selling antiques and other collectibles!

I'm a veteran Internet user, and have been using search engines & other tools for quite a few years now. I rather frequently (by my better friends) have people ask me to look for things on the net for them, which I like to do in my spare time.

I had originally bought this book for my Father who is just starting to get online and really use the web - the book looked quite good for the introductory user. He was asking me how to look for things online, and I'd make some basic reccomendations (i.e. "check yahoo and then check ...". However after I had bought him the book he was telling me about new search engines I hadn't tried before and using great (off the beaten path) sites I use but never told him about. I was immediately suspicious.

While I was home for Christmas this year (Dec,99) I started reading the guide and was finding all kinds of accurate & useful information it's taken me years to learn. Wow this book has a lot of great hints on really finding what you want, it's very updated. It also does a good job of explaining how things work underneath so you know enough to figure it out on your own later. Excellent book for new & veteran users alike. This is worth the cover price just in the time you'll save searching in the first month alone. Highly reccomended (and no-one paid me to say that).

This book was extremely informative. I was already doing online travel planning, but this book opened up so many new doors to me. My wife and I were amazed and pleased to discover through reading this book that so much of the details and the leg work of planning our honeymoon could be done online. We found out how to connect with other newlyweds and travelers through a message board that the author recommended, and got the inside scoop on everything from restaurants, nightclubs, romantic/secluded spots in our destination, as well as currency exchange info. and travel safety tips. The best thing about the book, though, was the author's offbeat sense of humor and keen eye for topnotch websites. A must read for any do-it-yourself travel planner.

From establishing a vision of how your life to be, to giving you step-by-step instructions for creating a plan, to educating you about technology tools that are available, to describing your legal rights, this book has it all. I know of dozens of people for whom this book has opened doors they barely had dreamed of.

I found this book a well-written and carefully researched treatise on language change in relation to the internet. It reviews all the relevant new research on the matter which is why it serves as a good introduction for everyone looking into the topic. The empiric study of the Enron email corpus is a helpful addition to the study of language use online, although the data is by now 5 years old. The large bibliography is definitely a plus.

Though addressed to Christian parents, Connected is not dogmatic; its straightforward presentation is thoroughly accessible to parents of all religious faiths. A clear, concise primer for all the people; both young and old. The basics of the internet are laid out for those of us who are just beginning to explore the cyberworld. The book is well arranged and straightforward; no technical jargon, just plain language and good advice. You will learn much and I guarantee that you will keep the book along side of your computer as your knowledge grows. Highly recommended!
