Don't Walk Away Yet has tremendously blessed me. This masterpiece has been a source of strength and encouragement. Each chapter speaks to my spirit. Although I have benefited from all the chapters, the chapter that has impacted my life the most is "I'm Still Here", which is simply my testimony.
Inspite of all that I have been through I refuse to walk away until God completes the work that He has begun in my life!.

Simply put, I love this book. I do some of the exercises for about 15-20 minutes before every practice and every gig, and it's exactly like doing calisthenics before a workout. It gets all the limbs loosened up and really improves coordination. No matter what type of music you play, and regardless of your skill level, this book is for everyone. My advice is to add it to your library.

This book will help drummers of ALL skill levels. If you want to improve your speed, timing, coordination, and just all around technique, this will get you to where you want to be. I don't know of any other publication with such a wealth of drumming knowlege for so little money. Rod Morgenstein took drum text books to a new level with this one. A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE A BETTER PLAYER!

I am so glad I got this book. It is loaded with exercises to build accuracy, independence, and endurance on the drum kit. And like Joe Morello's Master Studies, you can just flip to a page and work through an exercise or an entire page of exercises. Work through them all and see which ones you need improvement on, or just pick a few to warm up with before playing. It's helped my accuracy in hitting the drum in the middle, my speed and coordination . . . all in a short time. Enjoy!
Highly Recommended - But not for the faint of heart

Every drummer should have this book in their library. Rod Morgenstein is an incredible drummer, instructor (and human being). This book is the real deal.
I feel this book is for intermediate players and not beginners. Beginners are better off learning new beats and feeling encouraged by being able to keep steady time and grooving to songs. This book isnt about that.
This book disects the drumset and gives you tons of mechanical exercises on how to move around the set with control, dexterity and endurance. Its much more than just licks for warming up actually... its designed to make you a more proficient technician. Once you can play basic beats, this book can help you take your playing and technique to the next level - more control, power and speed.
In contrast to the previous book by Rod which is extremely musical and targetted at beginners, this one is focused on mechanics only and is better suited to intermediate players.
I highly recommend this book!

There are 2 parts in this book. Matrix spaces etc are discussed in one and the second part covers topics like Lebesgue integration. After looking through some other text books, I have to say that this is probably the best book I read. I finally understand the topic very well. Also another important thing I like is the way proofs are written. If you have a class to follow, then this book is the perfect combination. If you have read the basics elsewhere that can also help. But overall it is very well written
It's a classic

I own the book in Spanish language. Some content in the book is not easy stuff, if you study by others books, but Kolmogorov has the gift to make easy things that aren't quite so easy. Perhaps some theory is "old", because all the new books use some diferent approach to the subject, like the chapter dedicated to the Lebesgue integral, the book give the definition of a simple function in a different manner that we use today. The book is a must to have in your library, when you need to work with Functional Analysis.
Four stars for the content, five stars for the price.

This book is not quite up-to-date, but still very good as a starting point in (functional) analysis. The virtue of Kolmogorov and Fomin is their user-friendly writing style. I am delighted to find their book being available for less than ten dollars.

This book is better than his fabulous Real Analysis book. It is one of the best, if not THE best, functional analysis book out there and the price is low. Quality to price ratio is approaching infinity here (as Dover reduces the price more)!!!
Kolmogorov knows how to arrange topics and introduce them at the proper spots throughout the book. Everything is broken down into bite sized pieces and you are given enough examples to digest what's going on. Reading the book is like reading Kolmogorov's mind, as he has tried to teach HOW TO THINK about the material, not just DO IT. It's also very addictive, even though it's rigorous.
Name a better functional analysis book? Not sure if that's possible.

A concise, well-readable book for as much money as every textbook should cost. There's only one problem I found, but I wouldn't take a star for it, because the book is really very good: since the book is quite old, the nomenclature is very different from the current one. (Eg. the empty set is called ``void set'', Cauchy sequences is called ``fundamental sequences'', etc.) One should always look up the ``up-to-date'' name of every important concept that is introduced in the book.

"The goal of this wonderful book is to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ,by drawing us closer to Him. Bryant and Cindy take us on a spiritual journey through the lives of family and friends,to experience God's grace, healing, love and His ever constant presence with us. With our eyes fixed on God we can experience joy in spite of sorrow and trials we may face. The stories gently remind us to turn to God to fill our every need. A truly inspirational writing for any age group or stage of life!
I plan to use this book as an encouragement to our students at the College Student Health Service where I work as a nurse. It will be great for our waiting room when students come in and are waiting to be seen"

An important truth of following Christ is we do not look for adversity. Adversity will find us! In the pages of this book, Cindy and Bryant have compiled story after story of adversity's role in deepening His saints and God getting the ultimate glory. The ancients said `God is an ever-present help in time of trouble'. Thank you Bryant and Cindy for reminding me of the constant relevance of that promise.

Faith, hope, encouragement are essential to every human being; without these we at times could never face tomorrow or live today. Jesus did not promise us a perfect world, but He did promise us His strength to endure whatever life may bring our way.You know, in life there is an old saying about things it goes something like this, " You don't need it until you need it." I have often thought that about those who ignore God, just don't have time to know Him or just don't care to know Him. Troubles touch every humans life and for us who know Him we have an edge on those who don't. Remember, "You don't need HIM, until you need HIM," and in this life you will need HIM. Think about it. This book will help you do just that.
In this work, Experiencing the Great I Am, we are given 40- Faith-building stories from Christians who have tasted the pain of life in various forms and have encountered the Great I Am. Each story takes you along their personal experience that at times will not only show you that indeed God is ever present; but will put you on your knees in thankfulness that you have not lived their journey.
This book is a strong reminder of how fragile life can be; but it is also a stronger reminder of how faithful our God IS! The authors share their hearts with you, sometimes with raw emotion, but always at the end of the journey is the Great I Am!
If you need encouragement to know that God never leaves you, if you want a reminder of His love for you or if you just want to share stories of His ever present help in times of trouble, please read this book. A heart-warming work that will leave you smiling, looking up and whispering, "thank you," to a God who never leaves us and always loves us.

The best solo RPG game ever!
These books create the most amazing fantasy world.
They allow you to roam about how you want to.
It was planned that enough of these books would be released to cover the map that is contained in each of this series.
However, I heard, that they charged too little for each book (in England I think they were just £5 or £6!!) so they couldn't finish the series for financial reasons!
An absolute shame - I do anything for the last few books!!

Specially for people who do not of RPG games on computers. I wish that Jamie Thomson and Dave Morris become aware of this and please publish the remaining 6 books. The descriptions in the book for places, characters and actions are so good that I have abandoned to play Fighting Fantasy Series. Best of all, for all readers, is that the adventure is unlimited and you can go back and forth.

This is an official book on the world's best boy band! It's especially cool since the guys put their own special messages at the end of the book (Scott's one is hillarious, check it out).
In the book, you find out how they got together, about the house they lived in together and their debut single "Slam Dunk (Da Funk".
There are also profiles on each guy, and a questionnaire written in their own handwriting! All the pictures are great, and overall it's a gorgeous book! Definitely buy it!

I found the book true to title; an enjoyable quick read. I was jealous of the gifts that grace brought her; yet my parallel experiences showed me that what she tells is not at all far fetched. I was able to commune with my own soul somewhat during episodes of the read and reach to places deep within. I hope that Susan writes another book. I would like very much to read it. I had heard from a friend to read this book. I also saw that it had such high star ratings, so I decided to give this one a try. I was disappointed to say the least, as a matter of fact, I was unable to finish the book. Were the ratings from friends? hmmm.

Kudos to Susan Walker for a sizzling exploration into the true power of Spiritual awareness. With the myriad of books that purport to delve into the complex world of Spirituality and inner peace, NONE approach the depths of love, enlightenment and panache that this proverbial work of art does. To classify this book as a "Page Turner" would not do it any justice; it is a PAGE BURNER! This experience was for me, an adventure in Grace that ignited my spiritual flames! Thank you Ms. Walker from the top of my heart!

This true spiritual adventure story reads as gracefully as the title implies. When a young woman plunges into the depths of faith, the reader can't help but experience the dive with her. This story fosters an incredible feeling of trust in the guidance of Spirit! It is a captivating adventure that keeps the reader engrossed until the very last page. I recommend it to any person who has ever taken a leap of faith, and any individual who wants to be inspired in general!

Skip Morris breaks it down for beginners. He explains and has colored pictures of materials and tools. Also there is detailed (and colored) step by step for all the types of flies. If you are going to start tying flies, this book is a must have.

5 years ago I was mentored by a friend who taught me to tie basic flies... unfortunately life got in the way and I didn't tie flies for two years. A year ago, I pulled out my vise and materials, which inlcluded this book. By starting from the beginning, this books takes you through all the basics and gives you a foundation to tie ANY fly you want - the only limiting factor is the price of materials. If you're new to tying, this book de-mystifies topics such as the whip finish and palmering hackle to name just a couple. As a bonus, it is spiral bound to lay flat so you can tie along with step-by-step instructions and troubleshooting.

I own a number of fly tying books and this, by far, is the best. If you start with only one book, start with this one. The author methodically goes step by step, using fly patterns which require most, if not all, of the basic skills. The photography and illustrations are wonderful. Not only does the author give you exact, easy to follow directions each step of the way, he goes as far as to give a point by point review of what should be done if you find yourself in a mess. (invaluable for a klutz like myself). This, as I indicated, is by far one of the best books for beginners, but should certainly be owned and used by more advanced fly tiers also. The price is well worth it and in the long run will save you much money and certainly much time and frustration. I do wish there were more "how to" books around of this quality. Highly recommend this one.

This an excellent book to use when you're starting out. Directions are clear, illustrations are helpful-everything is designed to help you build your success along the way, moving from relatively simple to relatively complex. It introduces the materials, tools, and skills that will continue to be helpful as you develop expertise.

I am fairly new at tying my own flys. I own a couple of fly tying references and I am so much more impressed with Skip Morris' book "Fly Tying Made Clear And Simple." This is an outstanding choice for the novice. The biggest help, for me, has been Skip's methodical way of going through the process as he instructs on building each fly. He also describes solutions for the most common problems a novice will face and, best of all, the book lays flat on your fly tying bench due to it's spiral bound binding! I wish I would have started with this book!!

This is a good book for someone who is intersted in FLW and wants to see most of his Masterworks. However, I wouldn't call much of anything he did after the late 1940's a Masterwork but never the less the book gives a nice overview of his entire career. The guy lived to be 92! Lots of just gorgeous photos. Not many floor plans and the ones included are too small to read. Lots of original colored renderings, sections, elevations & some floor plans. The ratio of text to pictures is 20:80. The book goes quick.

No one book could capture the full range of Frank Lloyd Wright's brilliance and versatility, but this one comes close! If you're a fan of the man who was arguably the 20th century's greatest architect, this book is a must-have. It covers his design philosophy, and shows how that philosophy was manifested, from Wright's preliminary sketches to great photos of the finished structures. A visual treat and an invaluable reference work.

I've seen a lot of books on Wright over the years, and read a number of them, but for sheer enjoyment and the celebration of his work, this work is the best I've seen. It strikes the best balance between the photos and text, but the photos are truly magnificent and worth the price of the book by themselves. Much of the information, as another reviewer has commented, is available in other books on Wright, so there might not be that much new here for the Wright expert, but for those not steeped in Wright scholarship, this book is as good as any to learn about his architecture, philosophy, and life. Thirty-eight of Wright's most important buildings are covered, equally divided between his private and public buildings. Overall, probably the best single book out there on Wright to gain an understanding and appreciation of his work for the general reader.
By the way, just today we toured Taliesen, in Phoenix, AZ. It's a great tour if you ever get to the area and are a fan of Wright's buildings. Perhaps that's why I was inspired to write the review. :-)

Want to gain a deep insight into a book written by one of the better writers and players of all time? Tarrasch was a top notch tournament chess player. He wrote this book to help the intermediate player really learn about the game without just trying to make a buck off of a book! If you are an adult reader, who wants to gain an insight by an oldtime, but smartimer, then enjoy this book! I can certainly recomment "Understanding Chess" by Nunn, both "Unbeatable Chess Lesons for Juniors", "More Unbeatable Chess Lessons for Juniors" and "Winning Chess Traps for Juniors" by Snyder, and "The Art of Checkmate" by Renaud, but this book is right up there with them as equals.

This book is simply a classic. It was given to me by an older friend who played during the seventies mostly, when I showed an interest in the game. It goes from complete basics (the endgame with 2-4 pieces usually) all the way to intermediate club player level.
This book was a joy to read, Tarrasch is truly one of chess's greatest teachers that has lived. His passion and infectious love for the game is captivating. Tarrasch teaches the game in a highly instructive, concise, and understandable fasion aimed at the complete beginner all the way up to someone who plays in chess clubs.
I wish they'd release an algebraic version of this book, as it would make it slightly easier to read. The descriptive notation is more old school and not used so much anymore.
If you haven't read this, or know someone who wants to get more into chess theory and become a better player, then BUY THIS.
I cannot recommend it enough.

The older editions of this book are wonderful. Tarrash's teaching methods are both unique and powerful. Unfotunately the "amatuers" that tried to reformat the new algebreic version essentially trashed it! Juxtaposition a Dover copy with the "new" version and see for yourself. If only they would have solicited some advice from John Nunn with respect to typesetting, or failing that, just convert the descriptive notation to algebreic. An opportunity missed.

I'm 41 years old, and I'm a Portuguese lawyer. I became acquainted with the game of chess when I was a child, but I learned how to play it when I was already a law student. By then, my father offered me a copy of the (not very good) French translation of Dr. Siegbert Tarrasch's «The Game of Chess». Before that, I read many, too many books and articles on the subject, without any pleasure or profit. After the careful study I did of this specific book, I ventured to play my first official tournament: it was a good enough one, and I did so well I got immediately over 1600 (portuguese) ELO! In spite of that, I never took Chess very seriously: while I was a student I seldom played official games, and after my graduation I virtually had to stop. Since my personal and professional life stabilized in the meantime, I decided to try it again a couple of years ago. For that purpose, I studied once more «The Game of Chess», never dreaming of what was really going to happen. The weekend before last, I played my very first international «Open»: five sessions with forty players, of which twenty-six with (high) ELO FIDE, two with FM titles and three with IM titles. Having just 1913 (national) ELO and looking at so strong a competition, I estimated the best I'd get would be something around 1,5 points. Surprise! I've finished 8th (3rd «ex aequo»), with 3,5 points (+3=2−1) (1,5 points against three international ranked players, of which one with IM and another with FM titles) and a performance of 2293 (!) (the second best in the tournament) which earned me the right to get my first ever ELO FIDE. The next player like me finished only 22nd, with 2 points. I left behind one player with a FM title and twenty players with ELO FIDE. I was flabbergasted: how could a simple amateur obtain such a good result?! The answer was: Dr. Siegbert Tarrasch's «The Game of Chess»!
Many critics consider this the finest all-round manual on the game: I think they're right. It had an outstanding success when it was first published in Germany in 1931 and in Great-Britain in 1934. Such a success was largely due to the apparently unorthodox but extremely effective teaching method the author used, one «analogous to that a mother uses to teach her child to talk»: «the intuitive method of instruction». After dealing with the elements, the author proceeds not to the opening but to the end-game, «since obviously it is easier for the beginner to deal with a few men than with the entire thirty-two». Dr. Tarrasch doesn't waste any time with «all those eng-games which do not occur in actual play»: he goes right through explaining the fundamental positions of this part of the game, doing it so simply and clearly that one finds himself quite able to understand some longer end-games (four in number) with which he concludes this part of his book. After the end-game comes the part dealing with the middle-game, «the most important part of the game». He not only traces back «to fixed and constantly recurring types the manifold combinations of chess», but also gives the standard positional concepts of the game: through the «study of the typical combinations and attacks», one makes himself familiarized more than enough «with the raw material» for «the conduct of the middle game, as regards both tactics and strategy». Finally, Dr. Tarrasch comes to the opening, «the most difficult part of the game». After presenting a general theory of the opening, he deals «with the important lines of practically all the openings», though not pretending to be «exhaustive». (More than seventy years after the first edition of this book, the section on the various openings is somewhat dated, particularly on the Indian Defenses; but, to my mind, not as dramatically dated as critics say). A few games (seven in the german edition, twelve in the English edition), «very fully annotated», form the concluding part of the manual.
Dr. Siegbert Tarrasch's «The Game of Chess» is «A Systematic Text-book for Beginners and More Experienced Players». To me, it's more than that: it's the true Chess Bible. Besides, it's the culminating point of the literary production of the greatest chess teacher of all times: the «Praeceptor Germaniae seu Mundi», as he is known even today. «Naturally, for further progress the study of master games is most important - but only those games which are accompanied by the most complete and apposite notes.» In my case, I decided to study Fred Reinfeld's «Tarrasch's Best Games of Chess»: there were no other Dr. Tarrasch's books translated to English when I finished reading his manual. Again I made great progresses: in fact, I learned more and more about the game with the same teacher, since Reinfeld in many cases merely follows Dr. Tarrasch's own analyses and comments. Now, at long last, «Three Hundred Chess Games», «Montecarlo 1903» and «St. Petersburg 1914» are available in English (not yet «Die moderne Schachpartie», which is a pity): once read both «The Game of Chess» and «Tarrasch's Best Games of Chess», these are the next books to study, preferably by this order. After this (and, if I may say so, only after this), one may go on to other authors - above all Alekhine. But don't you forget to start with the Chess Bible: Dr. Siegbert Tarrasch's «The Game of Chess»...

I read this book after Chess Fundamentals, and found it was very similar in its layout. The difference is that this book is much longer, because of its smaller type, and it answers many of the questions that Chess Fundamentals left unanswered; for example, from Chess Fundamentals I learned a few openings, the Ruy Lopez, Queen's Gambit, Petroff, French Defence, and a couple others, but The Game of Chess discusses 28 openings. Part 3, on the middle game, covers a few details not found in other books, like illusory protection and the point QB6 as a target for attack. This book was very helpful to me, a player who finished reading Chess Fundamentals and wanted a more thourough lesson.
