What a great resource for a study group on this issue. I used this book as a source for presenting Biblical guidance on gambling and the lottery. The material was very straight-forward and easy to understand. The Bible is very clear on the issue and Dr. Evans brought what the Bible has to say to us on this in a way that any layperson could understand. There should be no question as to what our Father expects from us after reading this book and following up with the Biblical references that were cited in the book.
The Truth has finally been told about the Lottery!

I was amazed at the wonderful insight that Dr. Evans gives in this in depth study of the
lottery and gambling. I am so thankful that somebody finally had the guts to step up to
the plate and deal with this issue on a biblical base. Many times preachers refuse to deal
with issues so controversial because of the reaction that they anticipate from the crowd.
Thank you Dr. Evans for your biblical stance and your wonderful teaching.

The concepts that are talked about in this book, certainly should fall under the heading..."Why didn't I think of that?" There are a few typos, but overall it is extremely easy to understand. And I think it's rather strange that the author mentions nothing about the added bonus; in his description, of the book. "The added bonus" that I'm referring to, is the fact that this is really 2 books in 1. He's added (after a single blank page past the end of this book) his harness book called... "Harness The Winning".
I'm really very impressed at the horsemanship knowledge that is included in this book, also. I GIVE THIS BOOK A RESOUNDING 5stars ALL THE WAY!!!

I thought the book overall was pretty good, I did notice some grammar errors and a repeated paragraph on page 44 I think it was, but I suffer from short term memory loss anyway so it helped me :-) j/k The money management system in this book is very appealing to me and I plan to implement it over my next few trips to the track.

Addicted? is greatly helpful in identifying the often overlooked distinctions between excessive behaviors, bad habits, and addictions. The book highlights the danger of stereotyping addiction and addicts - especially that of substance use disorders (SUDs). In the impressive depth and breadth of her book, Dr. Freimuth offers a wonderful source of information for parents, health care professionals, and potentially at-risk individuals.

The book "Addicted?" by Marilyn Freimuth, Ph.D that I had ordered from Amazon arrived. I was looking at it and my son came in to the kitchen. I told him the book was about identifying additions. He picked up the book and started to look through it. About 1/2 hr. later I looked in his room, and he was still reading the book!We had quite a discussion about the different addictions, including the section on Internet Sex Addiction. Michael's comment was... how could that happen...you are not even in the room...how could you get addicted to internet sex by typing? Of course with some investigation,he found out there was more to it! The thing he was most interested in, however, was the Alcohol Addiction. We had a good back and forth discussion about it. He imparted even more information than he ever has previously about drinking with his friends like how, where, and what.
I told a therapist about this incident and some of the things that my son and I have discussed, she said "good". I said "good?" She said it was good that he is so forthcoming with me and maybe more so than some teenagers are with their parents. She said it is possibly a sign that he is looking for limits or he would be more secretive.
So there is an example of how this book immediately affected our family in a productive way! We will read more and I am sure, learn a lot.

Advantage / Disadvantage is a cleverly interwoven tale of High School athletes who are unwittingly taken in by the sleezy characters that cling to the periphery of organized sports, and profit from them by means of greed and deception.
This book was eye - opening and shocking, and at other times touching and surprising - but never was it boring. The characters inspired hope as well as loathing, and made me think that High School athletics might not be as simple and innocent as we are led to believe. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the sequel. Well done, Mr. Jaffe!

Advantage Disadvantage is a nail-biting, behind-the-scenes pass into the world of high school sports and the people who make and break it. Set in Chicago, its innately urban backdrop is full of distinctly Windy City landmarks. This is the perfect read for sports fans that love an insider's view...an insightful and deliciously-sinful plot full of twists and turns. You'll find the perfect blend of bravery, betrayal and who-done-it adventure in this vividly penned thriller.

This book is a great guide for players who need an overview of the many methods that exist to win. That includes any person who has gambled long enough to become frustrated in his efforts to win, yet has no idea what he needs to do to gain an advantage over casinos. I was aware of blackjack "card counting" but had no idea there were so many other ways to win at blackjack, or that so many other games had ways to win.
Some of the methods found in the book are very simple to understand and apply. All that is needed to apply the simple techniques is to be aware that they exist. Other methods, such as blackjack card counting, require considerable skill. Once a reader learns which methods suit him best he may need to get a more in-depth reference, but this book does a very good job of making readers aware of the different winning techniques that are available.

Book Explains How Professional Gamblers Win

Before you accept that casinos always have an advantage over players, take a look at the newly released book "Advantage Gambling" (ISBN 1-4276-0088-0), a concise guide explaining exactly what professional gamblers do that allows them to win consistently. Whether you're an occasional player or a serious gambler, you'll most certainly benefit from the many techniques and skills presented in this book, ultimately learning how to beat casinos at a variety of games.
"It's not a question of whether a player can gain an advantage over casinos, since gaining an advantage can be as simple as gambling with a `match play' coupon.", said author Nate Carpenter. "Anybody can do it. A more practical question would be which methods generate enough profit to be worthwhile doing. Some methods can be extremely lucrative."
"Advantage Gambling" asserts that a number of casino games can be beat consistently. The games which can be beat that are covered in this book include blackjack, roulette, craps, live poker, video poker, sports wagering, and a few slot machines. In addition to specific advice about games, the book also provides chapters on basic gambling theory, legalities of professional gambling techniques, casino security, and even keeping costs under control on gambling trips.
The author, a retired engineer with a formal background in number theory, is a former Las Vegas resident and still gambles professionally. While the author has developed a number of profitable gambling techniques himself, he admits that most of the methods covered in the book were obtained from other professional gamblers. Those methods are commonly applied today in casinos throughout Las Vegas.

I first purchased Mr. Bourie's annual book many years ago, andlook forward to each new and expanded edition of his work. He tellsyou practically everything you need to know about casino gaming, then describes the basic offerings of every casino in the country, and then provides coupons that will save you hundreds of dollars when you visit many of the casinos listed. What else could you ask for? Any casino player who doesn't purchase this book every year is missing the boat!

This is Dale Seymour's second book on the subject, Antique Poker Chips. Although it is soft covered like the first book that is about the only similarity. This book is nearly twice the size at 442 pages. The examples of chips is greatly expanded as is the catalog section. There are a number of color pages and the Seymour " coding" system has been modified. If the first book was a, "must have", and it was you can't live without this book.

I picked up this book in the Las Vegas airport at the end of my first trip to Las Vegas. I wish I had got it at the beginning of the trip. This is a thin little book that teaches basic strategy and can easily be read in one sitting before arriving in Vegas. Once you have mastered basic strategy, you can move on to some other more advanced books such as Blackjack Bluebook.

A quick easy read. NO CARD COUNTING. Simple tips and strategies make the game fun for the amature, and almost completely remove the house advantage in Blackjack. You gain confidence and can relax and enjoy the game because you know you are doing it right. Using the easy techniques taught in this book, you can even the odds. Don't lose another winning hand because you are too lazy to read a few pages. A must-read for anyone who intends to visit a blackjack game, especially first-timers.
