This book is amazing. First off the box itself is very clever; mimicking a pack of cards. The book discusses the begining of Poker, where it is now, and where it's headed. It's a great, compact compilation of history and rules for all types of poker games. I'm sure there are other more complete and bigger books out there but this book is perfect for what it is. Hands down a good buy.

The author tells, in easy to understand detail, secrets of the gambling world. This book is not only interesting, but funny. Being in the gaming business myself, I found this book revealed many things I didn't know. The author explains how people in the gaming industry fleece the unsuspecting gambler, and the author shares experiences not many people hear about. I liked the entire book, from cover to cover. The author includes a glossary defining words and phrases that I never knew existed, which I feel makes the book worth buying for this information alone. I hope the author writes a sequel.
Packed with humor and good advice

Excellently written and full of interesting information I didn't know existed about gamblers, card sharps, crooked games, casino's, slot machines and many other facets of gambling. I live near the gambling casino's in Mississippi and the glossary at the end of this book, which is full of gamblers terms and phrases, helped me feel and talk like a pro in a few minutes. Although I consider myself a novice gambler, I've used some of the terms and phrases on my trips to the casino's, and received a feeling of respect from casino employee's as well as seasoned gamblers.

This "person" has only written 1 review......I wonder if he's a competitor? My money says the answer is "yes". The real writer of this book is Joseph J Tuttle. I've had many phone conversations with him, and he's ALWAYS willing to lend an ear. It is his incredible accessibility that I absolutely enjoy to no end. He can also be reached via email, for he always includes addresses where he can be reached. Personally, I think he's a wonderful talent. He suffers from Cerebral Palsy, AND STILL FINDS A WAY TO WRITE THESE BOOKS. His horsemanship background along with his vast knowledge of sports in quite remarkable. Here's his official Bio, below. Please note: He never once mentions his C.P. ! And for that, he should be applauded.
Joseph J. Tuttle's Bio......
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hello, my name is Joseph J Tuttle, and I'm 38 years old. At the ripe old age of ten, the Sun-Sentinel (a Florida based newspaper), did a story about me called..."Does Joey know the score....Do ya wanna to bet?" I've been a horseplayer ever since I was about 12 years old, so that gives me over a quarter of a century's worth of experience. My Father (Seymour Tuttle) was an owner, trainer, and driver of harness horses. He also dabbled a bit in the thoroughbred game. My Father was truly my hero, and this book is certainly dedicated to his memory. My Father passed away suddenly on June 20th 2005. He was 83 years young.
But, over the better part of a 25-year period, he taught me almost everything there is to know about the care and training of any kind of racehorse. It was for about five of those 25 years, that I actually worked as a groom/2nd trainer. He also taught me almost everything I know about handicapping the races. He once said to me..."I can handicap a race better than guys can "fix" it!" I believed him then, and I think he has passed that trait onto me. What my Father meant by that statement was that having a horsemen's perspective on things is a totally invaluable asset to have, when handicapping a race. And, it is that (a Horsemen's perspective in/on handicapping horse races), I plan on giving to you the reader.
In writing this book, I've made a very concerted effort to try and incorporate as much pertinent horsemanship knowledge into many of the chapters, as a way to better serve the novice, average, or below average horseplayer. I truly believe that after reading this book, you will immediately come away with a better sense of yourself (as a horseplayer), and will soon realize where exactly it is you want to be as a horseplayer. You may come to the realization that you're always going to be just a recreational horseplayer, in the world of handicapping the races. Or, you might have a wonderful epiphany and realize that maybe you too can become a more successful horseplayer. Maybe, a "professional"!
When I first decided to start writing this, it was on the encouragement of many different family members, and my wonderful girlfriend Jenny Lynn. So, here it is and I hope it helps educate you a little more, so that your next experience at the track will also be a winning one.

Well, I made $1300.00 from Thursday to Monday (first full weekend of college football), and it's ALL because of the teachings of this little book. This Joseph J Tuttle is quite the talent! And, he's so accessible. Once you purchase any of his titles, he's always willing to lend a helping hand, either through email or via the telephone. He always adds an email address in ALL of his books.
It's now been about 3 or 4 months since I purchased his first releases "The Tuttle Way" I & II, plus another book called "The Ultimate Guide to Beating Baseball". I knew after just a few pages that this book was written by J.T. and the name on the book was just a pseudonym. If you're like me, and you LOVE "BEATING YOUR BOOKIE"! Then, I think this book WILL certainly help.
Good Luck,
Brenda Smith

This tape is so much fun to listen to and so very very instructive. Frank Scoblete is known as the best gambling writer in the business but he is also one heck of a speaker. You will learn A LOT from listening to him on this tape. He talks about what machines to play andhow to play them with strategies that will let you have the best chance to win or at least the best chance of preserving some of your bankroll. I listen to this whenever I head forthe Tunica casinos and I truly believe it has saved me a fortune. I recommend this along with his book Break the One-Armed Bandits: How to Come out ahead When You Play the Slots as the two essential things you should read or listen to before you play.

Slot Conquest is a fun audio tape that tells you where the loose and tight machines are located. Scoblete is a good speaker and he explains a lot about the superstitions people believe when they play slot machines. This is a fast way to get good information on the machines. I like to listen in my car as I drive to work. Listening to this is a good follow up to Break the One-Armed Bandits, his book about slots.

Talkin' About Poker: Straight Talk For Parents And Their Players, tactfully co-authored by Loren and Christopher Ackerman is an instructional assistant for parents and their children for the safe and proper assessment of youthful poker players -- with a special focus on No Limit Texas Hold'em poker. A seminal reference for many questions or concerns which parents may have such as what exactly Texas Hold'em is, how to play and bet in it, legality issues with children, possible addictions for young players, how to tell if it has become a problem for the child, what professional help is available for young gamblers, and how poker might really be played as only a recreational sport, Straight Talk For Parents And Their Players informs the reader of every necessary step a parent might take in guiding their poker-playing child. Straight Talk For Parents And Their Players is very strongly recommended to all parents with concerns about their gambling involved child, hoping to properly guide their child to an idealistic stratagem of youth poker playing grown increasingly popular with the advent of professional and tournament poker gaming on television and in casinos nationwide.

This book is about so much more than talking about Poker. Communication with your child comes through loud and clear. The message makes you stop and think how to handle a situation without resorting to panic and over reacting. Respect measures high in this book. Hope there is another book coming soon.

Loren writes from the heart with ideas on how to manage the player's interest in a safe and constructive way. Using examples from her relationship with her son, poker-player, Chris they demonstrate on the page how it is possible for parents and their players to communicate effectively and to understand what is happening from the other's point of view.

What a great resource for a study group on this issue. I used this book as a source for presenting Biblical guidance on gambling and the lottery. The material was very straight-forward and easy to understand. The Bible is very clear on the issue and Dr. Evans brought what the Bible has to say to us on this in a way that any layperson could understand. There should be no question as to what our Father expects from us after reading this book and following up with the Biblical references that were cited in the book.

I was amazed at the wonderful insight that Dr. Evans gives in this in depth study of the
lottery and gambling. I am so thankful that somebody finally had the guts to step up to
the plate and deal with this issue on a biblical base. Many times preachers refuse to deal
with issues so controversial because of the reaction that they anticipate from the crowd.
Thank you Dr. Evans for your biblical stance and your wonderful teaching.
