This book gives you the basics of 10 casino games but offers absolutely no strategies on how to beat them. It also only gives you common sense tips for money management. A waste of time.

Couldn't help but notice that whoever wrote up your promo of this book didn't bother to check the spelling of the title. It's "The Enduring SEMINOLES," with an "n", not Semioles. Wouldn't be so bad except it's the name of a well-known Native American people, and the misspelling is repeated throughout the blurb, even though the book title is plain to see in the photo of the cover.

A misleading light weight treatment with no real substance
Helpful Votes: 10 out of 11 total.

As an experienced baccarat player who has experimented with many systems and been very successful with one, I found that the book exaggerates the probability of winning and recommends some systems that will only lead to losing your bankroll. The section that claims that "thinking lucky" will enhance your game, for example. Nothing really new in this one.

Sadly, worst poker book ever
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.

If, as a stunt, someone set out to write the worst book of poker, they would not do as fine a job of it as have the authors of this truly awful book. Their annoyingly cutesy style is benign compared with the enormous number of serious errors about poker. Among their many factual errors, here are two: According to the authors, Aces are always high in poker (not true -- Aces are high or low. You can only draw three cards, or four with an Ace in 5-card draw (not true -- you can draw all five). The writing is so poor in general that it renders unintelligible even the information they get right. The book is also a major rip off -- really a couple of pages of original writing with the remainder just filler -- like an incomplete list of casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City (with no indication of where they spread poker)and a badly explained list of off beat home poker games. The one redeeming feature in this horrid text is the interview with Wendeen Eolis -- a truly interesting, thoughtful, engaging and highly skilled and experienced poker player. Too bad few if any readers will make it that far -- having thrown the book out after reading the first few pages.

The Pocket Idiot's Guide to Casino Comps (Pocket Idiot's Guides)

This book is only a bunch of addresses and of information that can be found in any Las Vegas general guides and phone books. Nothing much and nothing very interesting in the way of casino comps for someone who has been in Vegas at least once. They tell you to go to the Players' Club. Big deal. They have lots of pages on casino addresses in the country (24 pages) + reservation casinos (10 pages), a long glossary of terms (12 pages), recommended books and index (10 pages). So that leaves 109 pages for a rehash of descriptions of each game, etc. Don't waste good money on this book. Leave home without it. This was my first Pocket Idiot's Guide (I am the idiot for buying this) and I will never trust another Pocket Idiot's Guide. So count me out for these. By the way, it is still in mint condition. Can I return it?

This article is only one page long, and not the 5,000-plus words as described. What a waste of $5.95. I have contacted Amazon for a refund.
I gave it one star, because there isn't a selection for no stars.

NOT what I expected

I was looking for a Christmas book for my twenty month old and found this one. Since she has the Mommy and Daddy Harriet Ziefert books ("Mommies are for Counting Stars" and "Daddies are for Catching Fireflies")and loves them, I picked this one. Big mistake. What we wanted was a book with the Santas, snowmen and stockings our daughter is just learning to recognize, but what we got was a lot of information about families going to church to worship the holy child of God, saying grace, etc. That's fine if your child is ready for it and that's what you want, but it isn't at all apparent from the information provided on-line about this book. The book is actually heavily religious, which may be fine for an older child if it accords with your family's beliefs. It wasn't what we were looking for this year, and we gave it away to a family with an older child that was more comfortable with the content.
