I have read more than one book on gambling, and this is the most all around informitive book ( as well as up to date ) out there. Definately worth the money!!

Taught me everything I always wanted to know about baccarat but was afraid to ask. Now when I watch the high rollers I know whats going on. Sometimes I find a Mini Baccarat game and play $1 bets - and win, thanks to this little gem of a book!

Poker is the name of the game, by Walter Gibson, covers Draw, Stud, Hold'em, plus about 80 variations and different forms and choices of poker.

For those of us enchanted by, but too young to remember, Galveston's gaming era, for whom months-on-end in the Rosenberg Library is not an option, this book is a jackpot. The pictures alone illustrate the depth of Mr. Chalfant's extensive research, providing his readers a multi-dimensional glimpse into a bygone dynasty never again to be repeated. Even if gaming is eventually legalized in Texas, it will likely never have the same flair and life as that pioneered by the Maceos and chronicled by Mr. Chalfant. This observation alone makes the book a piece of history as priceless as the facts and artifacts therein.

I read this book, along with "Casino Operations Management" by Kilby, Fox, and Lucas. Both books were EXTREMELY helpful. They both start by assuming you know nothing about the gaming industry. They then show you the history and the evolution of the industry and then take you under the covers to show you the hows and whys of casino management and its decisions. I would HIGHLY recommend both books to anyone looking to gain insight into this fascinating industry.

I just happened upon this book by accident, and I am thrilled that I did. When the season ended in May 2005, the Montecito had been imploded and all the characters were scattered everywhere. When the new season began, it was as if it were "real time" and six months had passed in the characters' lives as well. A lot of issues weren't really touched upon in the TV show, especially with Nessa in England. This book does a marvelous job at picking up right where the TV show left off and creates a satisfying timeline for the characters, right up to when the season began again in Fall 2005.
And I would like to say "thank you" to the Las Vegas TV show producers, who incorporated a bit of this book into the season finale in May 2006 with Ed Deline casually mentioning Nessa's "disappearance". Read the book to find out more!

I really liked this book. It is well written and a real page turner. Good story line and plot. A real entertaining read.

I read this book many times over from cover to cover before I started my first job as a Vegas cocktail waitress in 1991. It's a very easy read, and is the best, and probably only, guide on what to expect and what the job entails. Ms. Fowler is an ex-cocktail waitress and knows the job inside out. You will learn what the basic requirements are before you get hired, tools of the trade, how to call drinks, garnishes and glassware, the differences in working slots, pits, and lounges, what sidework needs to be done, how to deal with customers as well as other employees, and much more. She also gives a little history on wines and liquors. People ask me almost daily how they can become a Vegas cocktail waitress and I always recommend this book. In fact, experienced cocktail waitresses should read it too!

Another great book about a local area. My family loves these writers as well as this book. Keep them coming.

In Providence, Carl Bartelli has one goal in life and no one including his wife or his business partner Evan Graham will stand in the way of his achieving his objective of becoming a millionaire before he turns fifty. Though his company Barham Armored Car Company has done well in New England and now in Sao Paulo, he sees the opportunity to attain his dream. He offers a deal with The Brave Wolf Reservation tribe to provide the capital to expand the successful slot machines emporium into a casino hotel complex in exchange for a piece of the action.

Using the same illegal "borrowing" of client money that capitalized the Brazilian venture at no cost, Carl, Evan and junior partner Judy Meade cut a deal with the tribe. A setback occurs when an abandoned gas station that Carl planned to buy to build the casino on is no longer for sale. The station's co-owner Claude Samuels plans to reopen up the gas station. Refusing to allow anyone to get in his way, Carl, over the protest of his partners, burns down the property of the Samuel siblings. If Judy or Evan become obstacles Carl will kill them.

INDIAN GIVER contains a terrific story line, but the key to the tale is the strong cast. One track minded Carl is an intriguing villain while his partners and to a lesser degree his wife are willing to break the law just not as violently as he does. The council members are also interesting as they soon conclude that they negotiated with evil. J.A. Russo writes a tense tale that grips the audience from the moment the audience comprehends how cleverly calculatingly cunning a killer the lead protagonist is. This is an exciting reading experience
