Use this book to compliment the Golden Touch Dice Control Book and you will pretty much have the complete course without the instructors. I read the negative reviews, and let me tell you that this book gives a few pointers that the other book does not have, and it has improved my throwing tremendously.

I have been throwing off and on since Augustr 07; in October the same year I shot dice in Vegas and landed a Hardway bet that someone else had placed and won that person quite a bit of money; nothing too serious, but the crowd went nuts! My longest roll then was at least 14 before the 7! I had to stop after that due to personal reasons. Anyways, I began practicing regularly again in July 08. I shoot on a 12"x12" board with a 12"x12" wall with pyramid rubber backing, and land the dice on the board pretty consistantly after reading this book. If you have tried, or try to, throw on a board that small with no side walls, it is hella hard to land the dice; however, like I stated before, I am beginning to become very consistant on having the dice hit the wall and still have the dice die on the board. Believe me or not, its up to you. It's A LOT of hard work, but this works.

P.S. I practice at least 2 hours a day, just to give you an idea of how many hours I have invested. I'm going back to Vegas in December and am confident that with a sufficient bankroll, that I will walk away from that trip a winner =)

This book is alright and teaches what you want to know but I recommend "Golden Touch Dice Control" over this one. They basically talk about all the same information except this book goes into more detail about math formulas which I really don't care about, I just want to learn how to throw the dice.

Also I don't recommend getting both books, pick one or the other as they contain basically identical information.

Just one is written by the best out there and this one is written by the guy that proved it all. I thought I'd prefer this book over the other one for that reason but in the end I liked Golden Touch better.

If you want to learn a proven method of winning at craps, then I recommend this manual. It contains a complete step-by-step set of instructions that make learning how to win easy, even if you have never played the game.

I had not played craps prior to reading "Advantage Craps." I am now able to win between $300 and $500 per day betting small. If you want to learn how to play the game correctly and make a lot of money playing, then you must purchase this manual.

I also liked the ...free coupons I got with the book. This makes this book the bargain of the year. Before you risk a dime in any casino, buy this book, try this system and prosper!

I have bought several publishings from this company. Each publishing is a endless circle of telling you to buy another one of there publishings. They offer a 100% garuntee and dont honor it. If you email them they might respond once and tell you that your refund was submitted to your credit card and it is your credit card companies fault you have not got your refund. Dont be scammed like me and many others. Never purchase any publishings by Martin J. Silverthorne.

This is by far the best place betting system I've ever seen or used. Also, the come betting strategy described is respectable but really only benefits the player when the table is hot. But lets be honest, if your lucky, a hot table is a 20 minute roll and one doesn't realize a hot roll existed until its almost over. The reality is you don't need a hot table to win a lot of money with this system. Anyway, I think the most important thing to pull out of this book is managing your bankroll and win/loss limits. By incorporating controlled money management skills with this place betting strategy you will become a CONSISTENT winner and a casino nightmare. Hats off to Roger Ford!!!

I have purchased a number of systems that have been published by Silverthorne Publications. While this is one of the better methods I have seen it is still just a overglamourized version of what you can find in many books costing half the price. The truth is that unless you hit a hot streak or a semi hot streak in the long run you end up loosing more money than you win. I rated this two stars because the progression that you get to use when you hit a hot streak is very good and very profitable; however, if you dont hit that streak you will slowly deplete your bankroll.
I would like to warn everyone further on Silverthorne Publications. I recently purchased an online system from the company and they debited my account four times for the one system. When I asked for my money back for the three extra times I was ignored. I was ignored a total of three times even when threatening to get my lawyer involved. When some investigating was done I found no listing for a Silverthorne Publications, no listing at the address they use, and a disconnected phone number. When I dove deeper I found no records at all of a Martin J. Silverthorne. Buyer beware.

It worked for me, just follow the rules.

I was a winner with this book. Yes, I loss some money at the tables, but I did come out ahead on two out of three sessions at 3 different casinos. When I didn't follow the book to the letter I got hammered. When I followed the rules I won. I don't think I would have made the money I did without this book. It's worth the 29 bucks. I made that back 20 times over.

This first volume of "new beat" poetry showcases an innovative talent that runs the gamut from hard-hitting, scathing critiques of our decadent, hypocritical society to tender expressions of love and friendship. Sage's love poem to his wife and his lament for his dead friend are particularly moving. My personal favorite, "New Jerusalem," is a hip rap with a spiritual message. The illustrations by Ruben Watson are fabulous, too. This is a striking book, literarily, visually, and tactically - a totally sensuous experience.

Came back from Vegas and wanted to learn more so I ordered 6 different books and have tested the strategies. This book was among the top 3 since it covered all aspects of playing craps including money management, a full review of different betting strategies, as well as a quick overview of the basics. Vogel does not unrealistically set your winning expectations as it done by other authors to sell books. I also highly recommend John Patrick's "So You Wanna Be A Gambler: Adv. Craps" book and note that Edell's "How to Make Your Living Playing Craps" may be worth reading as well.

Despite my relative experience at the game ( I've been a player and avid fan of the game for over 5 years), I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Vogel has a lot of great gambling methods that have really made a difference in the level of my winnings. In addition, he probably has one of the best methods for maintaining discipline and managing your money, methods that carry over to most casino games. Like I said before, I've been playing for years and read many books on the game. Before I read this one, I was averaging winnings of about $250/trip. Since I've read this, I've had three trips and won over $700 on each trip. I attribute some of this to my own experience, but mostly it is a result Vogel's excellent strategies and money management techniques. Novices and mid-level players will learn an incredible amount and should read this book before any other. Even those of you who have been playing for decades should pick this one up for the sections on money management alone.

Excellent Book!

Of all of the books of this genre I have read, this ranks at the top. If you're novice, you'll learn all of the ins and outs to the game. Intermediate or highly experienced players will take away a whole new view of the game that will increase their winnings. Vogel talks in detail about every type of wager, how it's made, and when to do it; strategies useful to any player; how to manage your money; general casino knowledge. The most noteworthy section involves hedge-betting, which is an amazing technique for players to bank the house. I strongly recommend it.

None of the challenge that makes the card game so fun
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2007-12-21
I love the original Phase 10, but this dice spin-off is really not very good! First of all, completing the phases is no longer a suspenseful ordeal. Now, whoever goes first, wins, because it's so easy to get any phase in 3 rolls of the dice. And there's not as much competition as before. All, in all, I was disappointed.

You try to get through the 10 phases, but now, you roll dice for them. The dice come in 4 colors, and have wild sides (marked with a "w"), but numbers 11 and 12 are gone, and, simply, the elements that made the original fun are gone, too. After you roll, you may keep some dice that will help you complete your phase, and then, you roll again. I once played a game with my sister (this was a long time ago), and every turn, we completed our phase. This game is far too easy for my tastes.

Simply put, this game isn't a great game. It's not even a great dice game. If you like Phase 10, make up some more phases or something like that. Don't bother with Phase 10 Dice. And if you like dice games, Yahtzee: The Deluxe Edition is for you.

Bad Design - Tin means teeny tiny

I played the older version that came in a cardboard box and had full sized score pad. I lost that version in a move. Years later, I come back to buy this game again. This new version in the collectors tin means they sized everything pretty small. It looks like travel Phase 10 or pocket Phase 10. I had to go online and print out the real full-sized scorepad so I could keep score without pulling out my hair. You can find them at centralconnector. Those little spaces on the scorepad are not big enough to really add up the scores. The best thing to do if you want this game is to go on Ebay and search for an older version. More than likely you won't be able to find it new but maybe in really great condition. I could not find this game at any of our Walmarts. They only sell the card game. Our local Targets don't carry it either. This is one of the few places to get this game from.

When I purchased this Phase 10 Dice game from Amazon, I assumed I would be getting the same product as the original Phase 10 Dice game I bought several years ago - in a box, with dice, score pads, and CUP to shake the dice (like the cup in the Yahtze games). I paid $7.00 for that game (at an Albertson's Grocery store, no less!) just as I did this one (plus shipping/handling - ouch!). Turns out that the dice game I bought from Amazon just a month ago is in a little tin box, with tiny little score pads (much smaller than my original game's pads), the 10 dully colored dice - and NO CUP! What are you supposed to shake the dice in? I suppose any cup will do, but I still feel cheated because the game isn't complete - and I paid a LOT more money (with S/H) for a lot less. (But what can I say - I love the game itself. Just beware, buyer, you're not getting the whole deal.)

Great accessory for Munchkin! The rules that go with the dice are great! While there are a few good expansion cards that come with this (Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies; Narrow-Minded), there are too many of the three race/class enhancers: some extra monsters would have been nice. Still, you get your money's worth with this.

Great Cards Useless Dice Rules

Review Date: 2008-06-05
Lets start with the dice themselves. Big chunky d10s that you would think would be great for reading from a distance as life counters BUT they have one issue, the 6 and 9 aren't marked with lines so you can tell them apart!

The dice rules add very little to Munchkin, running a 7 hour game into Epic levels and they were rolled twice when the person rolling had a Loaded Die card so they could change the result. The basic idea is that you can pay a level at the start of your turn to get a result from a table, the results are for rarely worth the level loss.

The cards that come with it though are GREAT! Race and class modifiers like High, Dark and Master really make game play interesting. So the set is worth it for those and other cards. Sadly the dice rules just didn't seem thought through.

Well, first of all this is not a stand alone, it's a small expansion to the Munchkin card game. The dice are excellent for play: they're big, cool colors and changing the 10 for the munchkin face gives a nice touch. The cards that come in the set are as always fun to read and fun to play with. I've rated this set 4 stars because this game is not for everybody, you basically have to like the fantasy rpg genre and understand things like the difference of race and class and such, but for those that do get it the game is awesomely fun.

Good intro to some Vegas Fun
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-01-04
I was preparing for a trip to Vegas and wanted to try something else besides blackjack.

This was just the book I needed. Craps is really not that difficult once you know what's going on at the table, and, as this book will tell you, you don't even need to understand all of it. Most bets on the table are sucker's bets. The odds are stacked in the house's favor. Stick to the bets outlined earlier in this book.

The early chapters explain the layout and rules of the table. The author goes on to explain what the odds are versus what the bets pay, which gives you the house advantages.

The system described in this book is more of a money management plan. Bet smart, and know that the house will always have some advantage, even if it's only 0.09%. In the long term you're going to lose. Manage your cash, have a ton of fun at the table cheering and letting the dice fly, while being served free drinks. Maybe you'll walk away with more in chips than you showed up with in cash. I did.

You'll have fun playing craps after reading this book. Just remember to ignore anyone, including the author of this book, who will lead you to believe over the long term you'll emerge a winner.

This book is fine for the beginning dice roller, but not for those who already have some knowledge about craps. The book has a VERY GOOD discussion of the basic rules of the game, odds and the different payouts. I like the chapters on special allowance for both right and wrong betters. I still use the book to refresh my memory sometimes. Other than that, however, the playing systems are nothing great. Pass or Don't Pass with odds. Nothing new here, but a good book for those just starting out in the game of craps.

All Across the Multiverse

Review Date: 2003-12-18
First off, this isn't a typical Amazon title, rather it is the product of PS Publishing, which puts out limited, signed editions by various science fiction and fantasy authors. Specifically, "Fuzzy Dice" by Paul Di Filippo was limited to 200 slip-cased hardcovers and another 500 regular hardcover copies, and at the time of this writing, some copies were still available from the publisher. Moreover, there are copies available on the internet, and should the opportunity to acquire a copy present itself, I would strongly recommend doing so.

A relatively recent theory in physics suggest that there is not just the one universe in which we reside, but an infinite number of universes that represent an infinite number of possible variations. For example, there is a universe where aliens invaded Earth in 1492 and another where there is no Moon. Of course this represents just the tip of the iceberg, as there are an infinite number of universes that are beyond the abilities of human conception. Conversely, the very fact that one could conceive of a universe means that exists somewhere (or perhaps more accurately, sometime). So a world where a megalomaniacal Mickey Mouse rules Earth from his base on Mars is no more or less likely than one in which the Boston Red Sox never traded Babe Ruth.

So when Paul Girard was granted the ability to travel among the universes by a post-human time traveler, he was understandably pleased. Here was an escape from the everyday drudgery of his plainly wasted life. The doorway to the full spectrum of human desire and ambition was placed literally at his fingertip in the form of a yo-yo. Made of "strange matter" drawn from pre-Big Bang space, it will, with a flick of Paul's wrist and a thought of where he wants to go, take him zooming across the multiverse. Unfortunately, as Paul quickly realizes, in a continuum of an infinite number of universes, one should be exceedingly particular about where one wants to go. While you might intend to jump to a world run by the Playboy bunnies, you could very easily end up in a world run by bloodthirsty Amazons.

As one might expect, Paul does just that (although under a variety of different circumstances) and pretty much makes a mess out of what should have been the greatest gift ever given to a mortal man. Nonetheless, along the way he inadvertently, and often unwillingly, learns a little something about himself. However, he is routinely thwarted in his efforts to resolve the "Ontological Pickle" as he puts it; simply stated it is, "What started everything?" What came before the Big Bang, or in this instance, what came before all of the Big Bangs? No matter how complex space-time actually is, and no matter how thoroughly it is understood, there has to be an Alpha Point, as it were, a space-time with nothing before it. But if such a place exists, what caused it to spring from nothing into something? It is these questions that gnaw at Paul, and even as he learns more and improves his physical and mental state, he comes no closer to the answer.

However, after a catastrophically bad jump, Paul and his companions (a son, (the result of a digital data swap) and Moonbeam, his erstwhile wife (a one time militant virgin hippy transformed into a bookworm nymphomaniac)) face certain death. That's when things get really interesting.

All that sounds like pretty heavy subject matter, but in Di Filippo's able hands, it is both hilarious and fascinating. Paul's miscalculations are so obvious in retrospect, one can't help but laugh, however, at the same time, the various worlds are by no means clichés. No matter how bizarre the setting, Di Filippo manages to lend a realism that drives the story forward.

Moreover, the author's consideration of the "Ontological Pickle" is exceptionally deft. Through quantum physics, he is able to create a theory of creation and God, of "everything" really, that makes sense and applies a subtle logic to religion. Though obviously only a hypothesis, Di Filippo's distillation of science, philosophy and religion is both profound and sound.

"Fuzzy Dice" is a novel that defies categorization, as it uses humorous science fiction to explore our deepest mysteries. Moreover, Di Filippo weaves in a great deal of science, but in a manner so subtle it would make Michael Crichton drool. This is truly one of the most original novels I have ever encountered, and I am certain it will be one I revisit many times.

Enjoy!

I finished this novel a couple days ago and I need to start by saying that this wasn't a *bad* book at all. But it wasn't a great book either.

I reached the end and felt...nothing. I wasn't glad I read it nor was I upset to not be in the universe the author wrote either.

It has an interesting premise, but I'm not really sure that the author knew what he wanted from the story...there didn't seem to be much passion in the writing and no real reason to *like* the protagonist. There also wasn't a really good reason for him to be an anti-hero.

The last two chapters or so were wonderful...but the game isn't really worth the candle.

Is contemplating the nature of the universe fun?

If Paul Di Filippo is doing it, then YES it is.

All I can say is Wow! This book does a very good job of speculating the exact nature of the universe. In any other authors hands this book would have turned into a scientific/sci-fi disaster. But Paul pulls it off and with such ease that you might not notice you are actually learning while reading. It is chocked-full of great existing theories and puts them into words that even I can understand.

It is the story of Paul Girard and how he is granted the ability to travel between every conceivable dimension. What does he do? Well, for starters he seriously F's up. I may like the character because he reminds me so much of myself.

I would recommend this to anyone who has ever wondered "why are we here?" It does help if you have a little bit of scientific knowledge, but the book is so good that you could get by without it.

Why have I not heard of this guy sooner?
