"Dice Angel" is a great fun read. I laughed out loud several times while reading it, and the ending brought a real smile to my face. You also get to see Las Vegas from a locals point of view, which is dead on. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that it's really not meant to be. Its meant to be 4 star fun!

"Dice Angel" is a smart, hilarious page-turner with witty dialogue and vivid characters. Set in the real Las Vegas, known only to locals, the book offers an insider's view into the bizarre dichotomy of this world (i.e., who knew Mormonism flourished in Sin City?) We follow Jimmy D., our flawed but lovable, wise-cracking antihero, as he weaves his way through a series of trials and tribulations which would defeat a lesser soul. With nothing left to lose, Jimmy grudgingly hires the weird and wacky gambling guru, Amaris (the "Dice Angel") in the hopes that she can reverse his bad luck. Never a dull moment between these two, and the wild ride which ensues culminates with a couple of unexpected and thoroughly enjoyable twists. A great read!

Couldn't put it down.

Dice Angel is well written, exciting, with a tinge of humor that keeps you enthralled throughout the book. Being from Las Vegas, I certainly appreciated the little details that remind me of the Las Vegas I know. I highly recommend reading Dice Angel, but make sure you aren't working on deadline, because you won't be able to put it down.

I purchased "Dice Angel" based on a couple of reviews I read on Amazon and absolutely fell in love with it. Brian Rouff's characters are quirky, fun, unique and exhilarating. Poon, the IRS enforcer is a hoot as is Aramis, Jimmy D's, dice angel -- I found myself wishing I could come upon someone as gifted as she.

Mr. Rouff is very economical in his writing. He tells a great, great story and if you like Las Vegas, gambling and down and out characters who get to triumph you may just love this book as much as I did. I highly recommend it and I think Rouff ranks right up there with Harlan Coben and Dean Koontz. The book is a fast read and I really wish I did not have to finish it. It's the kind of book you never want to end.

I do not play craps but after reading the hilarious scene in the Luxor with Jimmy D trying to save his bar and Aramis saying mantra's over him in the background so he can win, I may just try. I actually tried calling the dice angel as a lark (her phone number is listed on the book cover). Much to my dismay, the number did not exist.

I would be remiss if I did not mention Pete, the homeless guy, who gave Jimmy Aramis' card. Pete is a great character. Mr. Rouff is right on in his depiction of Pete (who happens to be an ex-stock broker like me).

So if you are looking for a fast, enjoyable read, pick up a copy of "Dice Angel." I promise you'll love it. And honest, the number on the front of the book (Aramis' phone number) does not exist (wink wink).

See you at the Luxor. I'll be the guy with all the dough.

In DICE ANGEL, author Brian Rouff describes a Vegas (this is not your formal `Las Vegas') story in a voice that is Richard Prather-in-Vegas caustic. Rouff's characters speak in dialogue that is snappy and hip. This is a real feel of the Vegas long-time locals know and love. With lots of Elmore Leonard characters, Rouff writes about Las Vegas like Carl Hiassen does of Florida. Describing a lawyer's office, Rouff writes, "Real hardwood floors, expensive art signed and numbered by foreign guys, a leather couch that probably took the lives of an entire herd of Texas's finest." If you want to know what it's really like to live in Las Vegas, DICE ANGEL opens an entertaining window for your view.

I read this book as a child and it has always been my favorite. I figured... now 22, I might find the books childish in some regard, yet afetr re-reading the series almost 10 years later, I still feel they are the best books I have ever read.
They are filled as much as can be expected with action, adventure, mystery, horror, and some moments of sadness. Rarely do you come across a book that fulfills all qualifications of perfection... but this series does.
Sita is the most amazing character I have ever encountered in fiction. There is nothing she cant do, and the problems that she faces are extrordinary.
Thank you Mr. Pike for the best books in all of existence.

I've read several vampire series, but these 6 books were my favorite. I've read the series several times. It's sad books like these go out-of-print. I bet people would still buy them...I would recommend these books to anyone. It doesn't matter what age you are, you will enjoy these books.

This book should receive 10 stars!

I truly think that this is the best vampire book ever made.
This book is a must have for any vampire story lover! I read this book when I was in 6th grade and omg it literally changed my life. I was a very bad reader as a child but this book opened a door and introduced me to the wonderful stories books could actually tell. Don't think this is just a kid's book because it isn't, its so much more! Everyone no matter what age can enjoy this book and I hope it brings you as much joy as it did to me.

I knew Sita. I was Sita. After reading this series (vol 1 and 2) I felt that Pike was born to write about Sita and still wonder if he has stories stored away in his drawers about Sita. I loved Sita and miss her dearly. I have read these books over and over again; time and time again. I'm 25 now and have moved on to some of Pike's adult novels, but this one still brings me back, and I hear Sita's voice speaking directly to me from whereever she is. Thank you Pike, for this series and also for "Remember me" and "The Starlight Crystal". You have inspired me.

Dr. Russell writes in a way that, to be consistent, one would have to become a 7th Day Adventist. He takes extinct Old Testament references regarding what Jews were supposed to eat and what they weren't supposed to eat, and acts as if they compose God's universal, timeless law. Poor exegesis. If he stuck to the scientific pros and cons of food I would have received him better (even though much of his data is controversial/speculative). There have to be better written books out there (I know Richard Foster does a much more thorough analysis of health and fasting).

I have found this book to be very insightful about my eating habits. Putting biblical boundaries around my eating choices actually gives me the freedom I've been needing to say no to all types of junk food. It has also helped me learn to trust God's guideance in other areas of life. God knows His creation and wants the best for us.

This is the best book I have read with clear, easy to follow advice that will show you Bible references for all of it's tips. It has a page of foods with Bible verses to look up where the food is eaten. There are references for the unhealthy foods, too. If you want a straight forward book without a lot of the authors own "reasons why", you will be very happy. You will come away with the answers you were seeking.

This book was worth every cent to my girls ages 12 and 9. We took it on a trip just recently and it kept them busy for a long time. They love the friendship bracelet craft, the doodle area, the game boards, cats cradle string games and the licence plate checklist! My son was not particularly interested in this item since the crafts seem more geared toward girls. I don't recommend it for younger children, since it will be a little above their level. It's perfect for kids age 7-8 through teens.

There are some used ones for sale, but you need to purchase a new one for this type of book. The used ones will be written in, and have the activity pages filled in already which is no fun. Each child needs their own copy.

My children are getting a little older and needed some more engaging activities for road trips, and this book was just the thing we needed. The Klutz books are always fun, and this one is one of their best, and it is perfectly designed for back seat survival! We road test lots of different items because of my website, and this item was definitely a hit. I give it two thumbs up, and so do my girls. We will be bringing it on all our trips from now on.

The greatest road trip invention!

A long roadtrip can be hard on kids no matter what they're ages. This had something for everyone. It had crafts for the daughter and games for the son. It included everything that was necessary (no hunting for makers or pens) and included a two page list of all the license plates of the US with a spcae to mark the date and where you saw them. They kep a look out for unusual ones along the way.

It is a truly excellent book. It really does the job of keeping a child occupied. I bought it for my 9 y.o. and he was totally consumed by it. I didn't hear a single peep during the whole trip! He had some other activity books on the back seat, but this one was his absolute favorite! We played games from the book together, he tested the adults' IQ, he checked if we really knew traffic rules, he marked down all license plates of states other than his home one, and so on... Everything from the book was real fun for everybody in the car! Highly recommended!

I have 9 year old twins who thought this was a good book. The packet of activities came with some items that needed scissors. Make sure to pack your own. They had a fun time with it and it was a good hit on the 10 hour road trip we had. While they didn't play it the whole time they did use it through out the trip. It was a good sturdy book that will last for some time to come.

I actually used this book as a child on long car trips. I remember it fondly. I have 2 sisters and we all played quite nicely with this...for a while. The only problem was we wanted to do different things in different parts of the book. This led to 3 little girls squabbling over a book. Not fun! My advice is to get 1 per child.

An expertly woven mystery!

Review Date: 2007-01-31
The first thing that attracted me to this book was the play on words in the title (paradise/pair-a-dice). After the first few pages, it is obvious that the title is very appropriate. A serial rapist/killer stalks the environs of Las Vegas, terrorizing the city to ever increasing levels.

There are several sub-plots to this mystery, and the reader can't help but anxiously turn the page to see how each of them plays out. In the end, the intricately woven story comes together in a flash of brutality as disturbing, as compelling, as the rest of the book.

Mr. Griffin's knowledge of police work and crime investigation is readily apparent. No amateurish guesswork here. It's as if you are reading from his own journal of experiences. This makes it all the more pleasurable to read.

In my opinion, Dennis Griffin is one of the very best mystery writers of our time. For anyone who enjoys this genre, his books are an absolute must!

In his latest book, Killer in Pair-A-Dice, Dennis Griffin takes a simple story i.e. man stalks beautiful woman and kills her, and kills another, and turns it into a story that makes one read this while sitting with ones back against the wall. I especially liked the profiles of prominent persons living in Las Vegas. Very important information is given by the detective investigating the crime to women everywhere as to ways to react when in a threatening situation. We used to be told to submit to the attacker, but now, even in airline travel, we have to be ready to protect ourselves and others.

The first forty pages of this book(the first chapter) was more action packed than any book I've read. Like in his other books Pike goes into great depth, throws in romance, lots of violence, and some blow-em-up scenes. If you don't like books like that, this may not be a book for you, but if you like action in movies and/or this would be a great book for you(read the first two before hand). Something that Pike does in all of his Last Vampire books is vagely describe what has happened in the previous books. I don't like that because you should read them and know what's going on. Over all it was a great book them and I would hope anyone else would give it five stars.

Thank you

By far this is the best Last Vampire novel. The first 3 arefilled with much action and suspense, though they become a little morecalm and in depth in 4 and 5. This one centers itself in Las Vegas, where Alisa's partner Joel (a vampire as well) is captured and taken to a lab in the Nevada Desert where scientists try to break his DNA code and turn the world into vampires. As Alisa tries to halt their plans, she unearths a new vampiric skill.

A great read, an awesome plot line, and a very original way to present a Vampire story.

Complex, Long-Lasting, and Creative

Dragon Dice is a good game, but the rules are somewhat complex at first. You position and move your dice, most of which represent creatures. During your turn, you can roll for maneuver, magic, melee, or missile. Magic can be used for various spells, which are specific to each race of creatures. Some of the spells, like ones that remove damage, are difficult to keep track of from turn to turn. The goal, although I prefer blood lust, is to maintain 2 locations. This game comes out as a nice blend of chance and skill and often allows someone who is far behind to win. This game is long-lasting; it can be played over and over again. I recommend this game for people who like fairly complex card games, such as Magic and Pokémon.

Well, I have been obsessed with dragons for years, so when I saw this game, it's name caught my eye. I had been looking for a battle game without the "kiddiness" of Pokemon cards or the complexity of Magic or Star Wars. Well, I guess you could say Dragon Dice hit the mark dead on! The perfect balance of strategy and luck make this origional game extremely addictive, and impossible to let go of!!

I loved this game!! It's a pity WOTC (which bought TSR) doesn't produce it anymore (well, more or less). It's as addictive as Magic, the dice are really wonderful and you get the rules, 21 dice, the army banners and a great bag to store your dice for only eight bucks! If you wanna know what the game is about, it's basically RISK with dice. You attack your enemie's terrain dice with your armies. Each army is composed of dice; there are three varieties (common, uncommon and rare, as in Magic), and you have lots of races to choose from. Every time you want to attack your enemy in melee or missile fire or magic, you roll your army (all your dice) and count the faces that came up as ths simbol you need. An excellent game which died of an ingnoble death and I hope amazon can breath some life into it.

In TSR's Dragon Dice collectible dice game, players build "armies" from their dice collections of warriors, magic items, monsters, and weird creatures, then roll dice to play out the battle. Play may include summoning dragons to join the armies, and the variety of dice collections possible with the random dice included here and in "Kicker Packs" adds as much diversity to this fast-paced game as do the rolls of the dice.

Play is set in the world of Esfah, which you battle to control. The basic set includes dwarves or Vagha, whose magic combines the powers of Fire and Earth; goblins or Trogs, whose powers use Death and Earth magic; coral elves or Selumari, who command Air and Water; and lava elves or Morehi, magician of Fire and Death magic. The various Expansion sets and Kicker packs available for Dragon Dice (see below) allow the player to add rules for a broader game and expand his collection with artifacts, magic items, and many other races. Dice included are of many possible kinds. Dragon Dice sets of any kind are each a unique collection of dice from a large group of possible dice, so multiple purchases of any given type of set serve to enlarge and diversify your dice army.

Dragon Dice accessories and kicker packs include Battle Ground, Dice Commander's Manual, Dragon Shield, Kicker Pack 1: Monsters and Amazons, Kicker Pack 2: Firewalkers, Kicker Pack 3: Undead, and Kicker Pack 5: Swamp Stalkers.

For those who enjoy the legal thriller genre, this is a must read. Based on a true case, it proves once again that reality can be as interesting and entertaining as fantasy. Great plot and characters and interesting twists at the end. All around an enjoyable book.

Hey - this is a really good read. Author has great insight into human behavior and motivation. The story is woven around a creative legal situation, one that will absolutely not be found elsewhere. If you like legal fiction, you will very much enjoy this book. Great character development. I think I've met some of these people and really knew them by the end.

This book delivered on its promise to break out of the legal thriller mode by adding humor, romance, and poignancy. Amazingly, the facts underlying the main case actually happened in Northern Minnesota--while the book takes some nice twists to tie up all the open questions about what really happened. At times, the story is laugh-out-loud funny as it shifts back and forth from Minneapolis to the Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. That does not detract from the intrigue, however, and at other times it is the suspense that keeps the reader turning the pages. The romantic subplot is more than a diversion, as it ties in with the legal dispute that drives the story. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I learned how to play casino craps with this book and would recommend it to anyone. It is very factual and informative....Combinations and Ways table is one of the best features of the book.

This is a great book for knowing what is a good bet and what is not a good bet. For example, regarding the Crap Table, Scarne gives you the house percentage (P.C.)that is against you for every bet. He also gives you the odds for any type of roll or bet.

John Scarne is the master when it comes to all types of gambling. If you want to learn the best way of understanding what the true "odds" of the game are, read his books. He goes into detail about how people cheat at the games and what to do. His argument about different methods of play are very accurate in showing you how you will eventially lose. I have always played the game using the "true odds" and have managed to come out a winner. His presentation of using money management is very important and "MUST" be considered whenever you play. I would highly recommend this book to my friends.
