This is a very fun book, though most of the story is via illustrations due to the limitation of only using a ten word vocabulary.

I read this to my daughter once. Then I made ten flash cards and we practiced with them until she knew them backwards, forwards and upside down. Once she learned them, she was "allowed" to read the book all by herself and thus began the "backwards" tradition of her reading to me instead of me reading to her.

She is 25 today and a voracious reader, so this book worked! And it's *fun* to read!

As a toddler this was my favorite book (my parents tell me). Now that I am a parent, I looked to find this part of my childhood for my own toddler. It was difficult to come by, but worth the time spent searching. It is a very simple book (uses only 10 words as the series denotes), but simplicity is its strength. My toddler is quickly learning to say "pickle" and "popped" after only a few reads.

Just a cool book

Again, a memory from childhood. This had to be one of the very first books i check out of the school library in kindergarten. I can't believe how hard it actually was to track down over the years, but again the internet and amazon save a collector again. This is a funny little story about a town and their king gathering pickles and piling them high, until suddenly they explode and a huge pond of pickle juice is made. It simple, easy to read, and you can have a heck of a lot of fun with it reading it to your kids...or if your board in the office. So please consider this book as a funny piece in a kids collection that could be passed down from generation to generation. There are other versions available of this book, including a 10-word reader series book, as well as the original scholastic hard back (and this paperback). there is also a paperback reissue available at some places online.

This was the very first book I ever checked out from the library at my school when I was in kindergarten. Make it the first book you child wants to read and hear every night. It is a ridiculously simple book, and utterly entertaining. Plot: Peter has to pick some pickles... Then fun and chaos ensues. The artwork nicely compliments the story and still makes me giggle to this day. Well worth any price you pay for it.

Here are four in-depth conversations, most centering on art and politics, published in 2001. Considering the tidal wave of events since then, it's astounding how these interviews still resonate with contemporary issues. Depending on your point of view you'll find Rollins, Biafra, and to a certain extent Billy Childish, insightful or exasperating in their politics, but its hard to miss the passion in their arguments. Ferlinghetti, by far, takes the longest view of events past and present, and suggests solutions (some new, some old), sounding the most conservative by comparison. Many will consider these four exchanges as nothing more than preaching to the already converted, but in this political season they take on the character of voices crying in the wilderness.

Thought-provoking and Inspiring

Wow. This collection of interviews is amazing. Though I had heard very little about any of these men when I picked the book up, I found their words very interesting. Even where I disagreed with their messages, they caused me to think about why I disagree. Many times I felt like putting down the book and going out to either create or protest. Even though all four of these men are politically active and radical, they each provide very different perspectives that, when presented together, have much more power than they could on their own. I recommend this book for anyone in search of inspiration to question and act.

Real Conversations: an envigorating and inspiring book!

I've been familiar with Biafra/Rollins/Childish and Ferlinghetti for a long time, but can't say I'm a huge fan of any of the four, but in reading through these interviews, I have a whole new respect for all of them. Vale talks about so many issues of political importance, artistic integrity, life, and everything with them. What comes through is not esoteric or academic, not something only appealing to punks or poets, but a feeling of being alive. All four are very smart, funny, engaging and interesting individuals and Vale really knows how to bring out their personalities. This is like a bible of common sense from 4 great prophets of the eternal underground. If you yearn to be creative and find your own happiness outside of the constraints of a 9-5 job and mainstream culture, this book will hopefully be an inspiration to you. It's also refreshing to hear people talking about important political and philosophical issues in a way that makes you believe that you can be involved and help make culture and live how you want. We also glimpse into their lives outside of the public eye through some wonderful storytelling. Vale helps to put the nail in the coffin of the "dumb punk" notion: these guys are geniuses. You need this book!

2 noted ex-users turned full time cranks Biafra-speed, Rollins-ritalin fronting 2 good punk bands DeadKennedys and BlackFlag are getting old. Their legacies are questionable.
They both never met a microphone they didn't like. They talk more than little girls. Both are way too serious and need to lighten up. They're in the entertainment industry yet yearning for artistic integrity (then stick to arts and craft shows).

Rollins complains about book/album sales, his business, and his own niche marketing scheme. The guy brags about hard work, working out, and dislike of everything hokey and cheesy. Typical manic depressive straight edge loudmouth. Relax buddy, you need a rest guy. He turned out just like his parents, but he can't settle down. Hence the mass confusion running out of his head. Every job has it's ups and downs. They get monotonous and draining. Worrying about money [stinks], so you compromise nearly everything up to and including you're very being. Hank likes being "commercial" because big corporations pay well and promptly. Movies and commercials are money on the table. It's easy and if he doesn't take it someone else will.

Biafra is one man publicity stunt show. Running for mayor(truly funny and creative). Including a poster of sodomy in records and calling it artistic freedom under the holy grail of free speech. I don't know anyone who buys a record expecting or wanting such a thing. The poster is funny but is by all definitions pornographic. Not everyone has a dirty sense of humor. Jello fought and lost for our right to do such silly things. Now he worries about his company's future as a b-music distributer especialy with the rise of this internet file sharing thingy (more punk than the whole punk movement combined). He's made a living as a paranoid alarmist worrying people to death.

Bottom line, everyone's replacable, independent. Past succes doesn't guarantee future success, but that's who gets better odds. Like it or not. Whether your stuff has critical mass approval or not. Carrying the torch will get you burned both up and out. These guys are one trick ponies branching off into other areas. A good perspective on 2 long winded spotlight hogs. Their music speaks or itself. JB's album with no means no and doa are worth buying or downloading. Black Flag is good clean fun. RESEARCH/VSEARCH always put out good stuff.

A great read for these times

[paragraph missing]

Essentially, the best thing about "Real Conversations No. 1" is that it's just that -- a good chunk of honest dialogue between a guy and four other guys who sound like they're pretty close friends with him, talking about what's on their minds and in their lives (both theirs and his) in ways that are sometimes entertaining, sometimes thought-provoking and sometimes even illuminating. And, yes, at least two of the people talking in this book have figured somewhat prominently in the entertainment and pop culture landscapes for the past few years. But guess what? They actually say stuff that doesn't totally sound like part of their act! Henry Rollins, for all the macho, stoic bluster that he gives off, turns out to be pretty funny and down-to-earth, as well as enthusiastic to the point of geekdom when it comes to archiving bootlegs of bands that he admires and/or played with. Jello Biafra's comments are obviously more political and exhibitionist, but he does make light of how he got that way in the first place, and how he was just as inspired by other people in the anti-WTO protests in Seattle as they were by him. Besides that, the most wholly "inspirational" words probably come from Billy Childish, who advocates "doing it yourself" (and "thinking and taking responsibility for yourself" as well) not just as a moral or even as a craft, but as something that fits into enjoying the simple fact that you're alive. And Lawrence Ferlinghetti comes off almost as the wise grandfatherly figure who has a wealth of stories to tell about the past but knows pretty clearly about what the future entails.

But really, the total effect of all these conversations for me wasn't so much hero worship or a privileged glimpse into the workings of complicated minds. It was more the idea that, if I ever had the chance, I'd wanna hang out with these people and talk about some of this stuff with them myself. (Of course, in some ways, I'm not sure that I could even get a word in edgewise, but that's another matter.) I guess that's one of my personal reasons for being glad that I bought this book directly from Re/Search in San Francisco, almost beyond the whole deal of supporting the independents: When I called the place up to inquire about my order right after the attacks happened, I thought at first that I'd gotten a particularly thoughtful and conversational assistant who sounded vaguely like Jello Biafra on the phone. It turned out to be Vale himself, and we talked for maybe half an hour about the attacks, how they'd played out on CNN and the likelihood that any chance for progressive politics was dead now. He seemed as interested in what I had to say as I was in what he had, and I think it probably helped get us both out of the shell-shock and thinking clearly again.

So maybe some of these good things still aren't quite out of reach yet. Or, if they are, then maybe now we'll scramble a bit more to get hold of them again.

I have been looking in magazines to get an idea of what kinds of built-ins and moldings I want in our home renovation, and my husband has been trying to figure out how to build them based on pictures alone. This book provides a clear how-to for all of that, plus design ideas. Yippee!

The built-ins shown in this book are just what my old house needs to make it rustically "modern". I've hired a team of Amish carpenters to build them, as I don't trust my skill in that area just yet. Great book!

If you're looking forward to doing the interior trim of a craftsman or Roycroft style home this is the only book you need. It has page after page of clear shop drawings of all the trim that will need to go in every room of the house, and covers every interior trim eventuality throughout the entire house.

Crown, base, casing, chair and picture rail moldings are shown in detail. Cabinet work for kitchen, bath, dining and living rooms, beams, columns, paneling, and doors are all shown in detail with full construction and assembly drawings.

This book, a few power tools, and access to a lot of oak is all it will take to create comfortable, inviting interiors that look like they're a hundred years old. Even if you aren't finishing off a craftsman house the book is great reading to fully understand the style, and could easily be the impetus for a lot of shop projects.

This reference is indispensible

We own a home built in the Craftsman era, and are currently remodeling / restoring it. I have bought several books about home rehab, Craftsman furniture, etc., and was disappointed with every one of them. Then I purchased this book. The level of detail regarding moldings, for example, is incredible. The complete set of dimensions including radius data for the cove are included. Not only are all the major variants of Craftsman design illustrated and specified, the original drawings for cabinets are shown and then separate, updated drawings that conform to modern kitchen design standards are presented. Anyone who is interested in the architectural details of the Craftsman era should own this book. It is a MUST HAVE!

One of a kind.

Craftsman is my favorite style and as I remodeled my home and office interior this book was where I got my ideas. Without this my work would have been guesses at best. With it, authentic. This is the only book I could find with this type of information and I have about 8 other books on Craftsman design and style.
If you are trying to make an authentic Craftsman home interior you need this one. If you find a better one please let me know!

My 7 year-old son and I have exhausted the Magic Tree House books and I remembered that I really liked biographies when I was his age. I searched until I found the "On My Own" series and we have both been really happy with them. My two favorite things about them are the art, which is lovely, and the fact that most of them are stories that are less common than the usual ones the kids read. I had not heard the story of Sybil Ludington and I really enjoyed it. Last night we read about Ellen and William Craft -- another story I had never heard and another very good story. The quality of these books all around is outstanding. I'm so glad we found them.

My 8-year-old son read this to me for reading. I had not heard this story before. It is about how a 16-year-old girl saved the day during the American Revolution. We enjoyed the story and it would be just as appropriate for History as it was for reading. Part of the On My Own History series recommended for grads 2-3rd.

Marsha Amstel's Sybil Ludington is a fast paced high-interest novel that grabs the attention of the reader from the first page to the last. It's popularity with the 8 - 12 crowd shows that children can still be turned on by the written word. The success of this book begs Marsha to keep on writing for this age group. More historica novels please, and soon!

This was an excellent example of an early feminist. Sybil is both serious and light-hearted, a good famly book to read alone or together. It shows a piece of history that incorporates a young woman with fierce determination. For those of us that live in New York, it is validation that a young woman was involved in the war effort from Putnam County.

Great coverage of TV's Batmobile and the Munter's cars. Authors also remind you about cars you didn't know Barris did: The Beverly Hillbillies truck, the Flintstones (film of course) cars, updates of the Knight Rider Firebird, the Jurassic Park Explorers, and the infamous sitcom "My Mother the Car" (the butt of many Johnny Carson jokes). But also taking up space are forgotten cars from forgotton projects...the Bugaloos dune buggy and a TV special "Romp". Cars I would have liked to have seen but didn't make the cut include the Monkee Mobile, the Green Hornet's "Black Beauty" and the Stutz replicas made for the TV adventure series "Bearcats!". Overall a good book, but I have a hunch that only the surface of Barris' career has been scratched. How about a large format book with lots of color and details on the surviving movie cars and "Kustoms" that made Barris the legend he is?

One Of The Best Beatles Photo Books Ever Assembled

Review Date: 2008-12-11
Every year at Christmas, my family pretty much knows what to get me as gifts. Something, anything to do with The Beatles. As a long time Beatles fan, I just can't seem to get enough of the group that had such an impact on my life as a young man.

After all of these years, I pretty much thought I had seen most of the photographs of the group that had ever been taken. But considering the tens of thousands of pictures that must have been taken of them over the decades, there had to be many I had not had the opportunity to have ever looked at before.

I received The Beatles Unseen Archive as a Christmas gift and it was one I had not asked for or even knew existed. It is an incredible collection of rare photos of John, Paul, George and Ringo and those around them, starting in the early 1960s and ending with a sobering photograph of Paul McCartney outside of his home after he got word of the death of George Harrison.

Printed on thick, high quality stock, this book features 384 pages and is a rigid paperback bound collection of 600 news, candid, concert and casual photographs taken by professional photographers for Associated Newspaper's "Daily Mail" all over the world as The Beatles passed by their lenses, many published here for the first time. And I have to admit, most, maybe 90% or more, I had never seen before.

The book is also catalogued by chapters, with yearly chronologies and commentary. Each photo has a caption explaining who, what, where, and the chapter/chronology gives most of the whens. All photographs are black and white and since they are from the era of film cameras, expect to see grain, especially those that are blown up to full page size.

I highly recommend The Beatles Unseen Archives as a gift for that Beatles fan who can't get enough of the Fab Four, especially in the way of pictures.

At first I was a little hesitate to purchase this book considering that I have over two hundred books on the subject of the Beatles, however, I'm glad that I did since this book stands out from the others. Definitely, it's informative as a reference guide, and it includes a large amount of rarely seen and unseen photos of the Beatles together and apart. Also, the appearance of it is quite attractive with its lavish hardcover; moreover, the beautiful black and white, and colorful photos that it contains. Without a doubt, if you're either a die-hard or casual fan, then you should definitely purchase this book, and place it next to the other valuable Beatles items that you may own.

I picked up this book on a whim for my 2 year old who is obsessed with the Beatles. However, I have spent several hours myself looking through it and I love being able to read about the stories behind the pictures, even if she cant enjoy them yet. The pictures are brilliant and the size of them is also good, no squinting to see whats going on. I would recommend this book to any Beatles fan, and to anyone else who wants to know more about them, not only as a band but as individuals.

I love this collection of Beatle photographs taken from early in their careers to the post-Beatle years. (I have two copies of this book - the first one has a chronology that stops in 1999-2000, when George was still alive and the second one includes George's tragic demise in 2001).

I love the way a Beatle song is used as a title for each chapter. The photos are well documented and include many people who crossed paths with the Beatles, such as Harold Wilson, Ed Sullivan (of course) and many lesser known people.

The book also provides a rich history for each year that is being covered. Events are chronicled in the chronology and is a very "Beatle friendly" gauge indeed. The Beatles' travels and events regarding same are recorded. There are two pictures of George, packing his "Beatle Bag," with the picture captioned about how BOAC provided the Fabs free flights from England to France provided they advertised with those bags. Harold & Louise Harrison, Sr. are shown, sending their son off to America proudly and lovingly. These make a good book even better.

Many of these photographs had not seen the light of day prior to the publication of this wonderful book. No Beatle fan should be without this one!

Yes, it is one of the best Beatles photo albums I've ever seen. It covers that period from 1963 through the breakup and to George's death in 2001. Some of the pictures are familiar, others aren't. It's a wonderful journey to start at the beginning and see the Beatles' milestones and how they change. We see their early exuberance and eagerness to please by posing in showbizzy poses in matching suits, being feted and receiving endless awards. They morph into the ultimate cool icons, hair growing shaggier, clothes weirder. Their relationships are chronicled. First it was Cyn, Jane, Patti and Mo. Then it was Linda and Yoko. Eventually Patti and Maureen were replaced by Olivia and Barbara. I love the early pictures of the women - all those wonderful dolly dresses and Patti's amazing eyes. (I was sooo jealous of her!). The pictures thin out after the breakup. There are intermittent photos of the individual Beatles and their families (mostly Paul) through the 70s, 80s and 90s. The last photo in the book is the sad photo of Paul the morning George died. There are almost no photos of the Beatles taken in America so it cannot be called a comprehensive collection. After all, this was the English press (Daily Mail and AP)and a lot of these photos never made it stateside until now. One thing that historians will note is the plethora of shots from the middle '60s showing just how important they were during that time. I'm so happy to have come upon this book. It is highly recommended for Beatles fans both who remember when and who want to know what it was like.

Although Bob Mathias: Across the Fields of Gold will not be a big threat to win any Pulitzer Prize, I thoroughly enjoyed it's charm and always felt good every time I picked it up. This story is a sleeper, not in a boring way, but in the fact that Bob Mathias is really one of the great "stories" of the 20th Century. It just may be a sleeping giant!

This is a very enjoyable book. Great story, great pictures.

I just want to say that I very much enjoyed reading such a positive sports story. This book will be a terrific one for young people in that they can see that sports stars are not just self-centered, selfish individuals. You don't have to be an athlete to like this book. It's fun and inspiring.

Great story and photos about a great man.

It is truly amazing that one person could have done so many things in his life. The book is interesting, funny, and inspiring. The book was a gift to me from my son (after he read it!) and we have had some nice disscussions about what it was like when Mathias did all these heroics and what it is like now in this country. I like the book too because it gives the reader hope.

Great Book! Excellent writing!

This book is a "must read" for anyone that enjoys reading about a truly great american athelete. This is a one of a kind book, put together with a great deal of thought and preparation. I applaud this book. It simply can not be put down, once you start reading. Where photographs and text truly meet! Bravo!

This has been a good book. The best part is a chapter on Broken vs Prideful. It goes through 35 areas in 7 different topics comparing a broken heart and a prideful heart. It took me 2 hours and 5 journal pages just to get through that one chapter.

An encouragement to be honest with God and Others

This short book can be read in two hours but its potential benefit to your spiritual condition could last a lifetime. "Brokenness" is the first book of a trilogy (the others are Surrender, and Holiness), but it can stand by itself. In an approach that is non-condemnatory but convicting, Ms. DeMoss has written a wonderful resource that could aid us in challenging a stale faith and encouraging us toward a "brokenness (which) is the pathway to blessing." (p.105). Chapter Four contains a list of characteristics that unveils the traits of proud people in comparison to those of broken people. (I found myself saying "ouch" more than once.) But she rightly observes that the Bible continually points out God's resistance to the proud and His willingness to draw close to the humble. If you want to read a quickly flowing book that will encourage you towards the true joy that results in being honest with God and with others, then I highly recommend this resource as a positive aid toward that end. I found it encouraging, convicting, and personally desirous to be open to whatever God thinks is appropriate for my spiritual condition.

Wow!

Brokenness, by Nancy Leigh DeMoss, was born out of something God did at a Campus Crusade for Christ staff conference, which took place in Moby Gym at Colorado State University in July of 1995. The focus of the conference was revival, and the organizers, desiring a fresh work of God, intentionally departed from a "normal" conference schedule. On the third day of the conference, DeMoss spoke on the subject of brokenness and humility. When she finished, what God had been doing in the hearts of those in attendance became visible. DeMoss writes, "No human fully knows or could possibly capture what took place that hot July in Colorado. But I believe most who were present would agree that God was there and that His presence was manifest in an extraordinary way. As He began to move in the hearts of His people, all scheduled events for the rest of the day were cancelled; the same thing happened the next day and half of the following day. There were no official breaks during the service that began at 9:00 Monday morning and continued until midnight that night. Most of those in attendance had no desire to leave, though some slipped in and out as necessary for physical nourishment or to tend to needs of children. Throughout the day, hour after hour, people stayed glued to their seats on the main floor or in the bleachers as we waited, listened, repented, prayed, and worshiped."

There is much talk these days about revival: what constitutes a true revival, creating an atmosphere conducive for revival, how desperately we need revival "in our land." The prevailing attitude says, "Let's figure it out and manufacture it." But as DeMoss points out, there is not a formula. What we do have is God's timeless Word which teaches that he hates pride, but that He will draw near to and use the broken and contrite. DeMoss invites the reader to "encounter God in a whole new way. It is a call to discover His heart and His ways; a challenge to embrace a radically new way of thinking and living, in which the way up is down, death brings life, and brokenness is the pathway to wholeness."

The theme of contradictions runs throughout the book: those who appear to be most spiritual are in greatest need of revival, those who are waiting for revival oftentimes are the ones used to start it, those who die to their "self-sins" experience more life, those who are broken are most whole, the humble ones are exalted, those who weep know deep joy, and those who expose their sin and needs are covered. Though the path to brokenness before God and our neighbors will be a painful one, it will lead to healing and restoration, to personal revival, to greater intimacy with God and others, and to our increased usefulness in the hand of God. On the other hand, when we rely on ourselves and hide behind our spiritual facades, we cut ourselves off from God's blessings and grace.

DeMoss uses passages from both testaments, especially Psalms and Isaiah, to describe brokenness. She also describes eight biblical profiles to demonstrate what brokenness is and what it is not. In Chapter 4, "Am I a Proud or a Broken Person?," she shares, in list form, the characteristics of a broken person compared with those of a person who is proud. While it cannot be definitive, it is a very thorough list of characteristics which distinguish the broken and the proud. She has identified eight categories for these characteristics: attitudes toward others, attitudes about rights, attitudes about service and ministry, attitudes about recognition, attitudes about themselves, attitudes about relationships, attitudes about sin, and attitudes about their walk with God.

The final chapter offers specific steps the reader can take to humble himself before God by using the tools He provides: His Word, our circumstances, and other believers. DeMoss notes the wisdom in choosing brokenness over being broken, writing, "The fact is, we will all be broken -- sooner or later. We can choose to be broken or we can wait for God to crush our pride. If we resist the means God provides to lead us to brokenness, we do not avoid brokenness -- we simply make it necessary for God to intensify and prolong the process." She then offers four suggestions to enhance personal brokenness. They are not new, nor are they repackaged to sound new. She does not advocate getting something from God, rather she discusses rightly orienting our lives to God.

As I was reading, two aspects of this book stood out to me. One is that DeMoss does not presume to know everything there is not know about how God works and brings revival to His people. She shares her experience and wisdom from scripture, but only refers to her insight as suggestions. Another is that DeMoss does not create any new rules to follow. She admits that God will deal with each of His children in a different way, so that what she shares about how He has dealt with her is presented as personal experience only -- not a prescription. Only He knows the intricacies of each of our hearts and is in a position to apply rebuke, conviction, forgiveness and grace.

Finally, DeMoss offers a personal testimony of her struggle to remain broken and humble before God and her brothers and sisters in Christ. Brokenness is rarely a once-for-all-time experience; it is a "starting place for a lifelong cycle." After six chapters of instruction, her testimony demonstrates, to a degree, the spiritual fight and pain that accompanies a deep desire to follow Christ whole-heartedly and see Him glorified in all things.

Each chapter ends with questions for reflection, to bring conviction, and reveal areas of personal application. There is also a discussion guide for leading a small group or to enhance one's spiritual growth with even more difficult questions to consider.

All I can say is that God moves in a very special way in this book, unlike any other human-authored book I have ever read in my nearly thirty years as a Christian (I'm 37 now). I could write pages of what God did in my life through this book, but the work God does through this is His miracle, and perhaps I should just say that you would be enriched, changed and renewed by taking the time to read it (or as some may say, have it read you~ it's that sort of book). As it was for me, it may just be the "key" you're looking for in your quest to follow Christ, and help you work past issues of the heart you've struggled with for many years. Just know, you will never be the same...

Every Christian should read this book. Every Pastor should read this book. This is where we need to be. We have to die to ourselves and our wills if Christ is going to live His life through us. Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

I purchased this book based on recommendations from Amazon reviews, and because I have the interest to learn more about furniture design and building techniques, basically focused in frameless type of cabinets, and this book covers both face-frame & frameless.
It provides a lot of pictures and drawings of how to layout, design, build, finish, and install face-frame or frameless cabinets.
Bob Lang made this book very easy to understand and I think is a great resource to beginners because of the structure of the book.
The book includes techniques and jigs that are great for cabinet construction. Several aspects of cabinet construction are covered with multiple options for joints, fasteners, materials, attaching doors (hinges), building drawers, etc.

I'm researching the possibility of making the cabinets for our new home and have found this book to be an excellent resource of information and tips by someone who has "been there and done that". Mr. Lang uses easy to understand language and examples on drawer construction, door construction, case construction and installation. Lots of time-saving tips, too!

A very practical guide that will help anyone with just a little experience making cabinets.

I used this book along with _The Complete Cabinet Maker's Reference_ by Jeffrey Piontkowski to build a set of nice garage cabinets. The two books are very different, and, I think, compliment each other well. This book contained information that allowed me to refine the basic cabinets in the other book. I was very pleased with the results! The project would have been much more trouble for me if I hadn't read this book first.

The Complete Kitchen Cabinetmaker is not a book on the details of joining or operating woodworking equipment. But it does do a very complete job of providing an overview of how to design and construct cabinets. It is comprehensive and economical in its explanation of how to construct both face frame and frame less cabinets. The author provides you with his viewpoint. Others would have a different perspective. Nonetheless, I would highly recommend the book for those new to cabinet making and as a reference for more experienced woodworkers. It has many insights that are only gained through the experience of building lots of cabinets and I found those insights to be very helpful.

Rev. Considine wrote for an audience that once understood the graciousness of suffering. "Confidence in God" reminds the reader that God loves us, suffers with us, and provides the grace for us to encounter Joy no matter our circumstances. Read Rev. Considine's work after you have set aside cynicism and a world mindset that dwells on self promotion, and you will find a love beyond imagining, but that has been imagined for you by your Father.

In a small, portable and easy-to-read hardcover book with lots of colourful, uplifting pictures, Considine provides us with great words of encouragement. He encourages us to have faith in God, not to fight Him but to seek His will which ultimately lead to our own happiness; we just need to trust Him. We are also reminded that being Christian does not mean a life of luxury and no troubles. This is a book to be read and re-read whenever you need encouragement. Recommended.

I am overjoyed to find this excellent book on line! For those of you searching for God, or want to know what He is like, even you who have been turned off by religion, this is the book to show you the way. Throughout my Christian life, I've heard many people use the phrase "Next to the Bible, this is the book for me..." and in my case, Confidence in God is that book. Written by a Catholic priest, this book is not just for Catholics, but for all Christians, and all other persons, even those who do not consider themselves to be Christians. Rev. Considine explains the attributes of God in a clear and accurate way. I am now almost 40 years old, and this is the book that lead me to Christ when I was just 16! I recommend this book for all persons, only "next to the Bible"!
