Excellent guide to wineries in France

Review Date: 2002-08-11
My husband and I wanted to do some time in "wine country" during our 1 year stay in France. We picked up this book at a local "english language library" and it was great! It really gives a lot of good information about the regions, the wineries, and the traveller's perspective on wine country in general. We've also used it extensively to document our pictures after the fact -- you know how you can forget the names of the 20 chateaux and 12 towns you visited! Well, this book provides enough information to put it back together when you are looking at a picture of a very pretty building which you cannot remember the name of.

It doesn't cover particular wines in detail (mentioning only a few), but for wineries, its a great guide.

The Wine Atlas of France by Hubrecht Duijker (with support from Hugh Johnson) is the best way to start exploring the various famous French wine regions by car. After presentation of the history and a description of a particular wine region, the book lists the address and describes the important wine estates of the region. Suggested routes for driving as well as listings of the top regional restaurants and hotels, in order to recover from the wine tasting. Besides excellent maps of different scales to find your way round the book has superb pictures so that you know what to expect. Alternatively, you may first want to use the book to browse through the various wine regions. Even without using the book as a travel guide it is very useful in locating wines and their vineyards.

This books contains informative descriptions, combined with detailed maps, and beautiful pictures, covering all the major wine producing regions of France. In addition, the author includes his favorite vineyards for each region. This book is a must for anyone travelling to France or just interested in learning more about the wine producing regions of France. Included in each section are a few selections on where to eat and where to stay as well. Having personally taken this book on my most recent trip, I can give it my hearty endorsement.

I had heard about Probiotics before but when Dr Mehmet Oz appeared on Oprah and talked about health and Probiotics I wanted to know more. This book is simply laid out and you can read about a specific area of health that you are interested in improving or how your whole health is affected by Probiotics. This book has good information for anyone concerned with getting healthy and staying healthy.

The joys and trials of turning an abandoned piece of Italian real estate into a successful vineyard

Imagine an Italy loving Scot purchasing 18 acres in an unlikely location there and turning this into a vineyard producing fine wine. Fraser documents with great personal feeling the joys and trials he went through to accomplish this feat. His sympathy for Italy, all his Italian collaborators, and even for the Italian bureaucracy, are sensitively described. Not only a very amusing story, but also a textbook on viticulture and wine making.

Colin Fraser, consultant in Rome, buys a derelict property in the hills outside Rome and plants a vineyard that he intends to produce fine wine from. It's Italy, it's easy you say? Except, Fraser is holding down a full-time job, knows little about viticulture, the area he bought his land in is known for terrible wine, it's too high, and the Italian regulations are too thick. That's what makes this story a wine adventure!

I was inspired by Fraser's perseverance in learning through books and meeting with anyone who would talk with him. He educated himself as he proceeded to establish his vineyard and then his winery. The story is filled with wonderful cultural stories that bring texture to the Italian people.

For those with a secret, or not so secret, desire to get away from it all and grow grapes and produce fine wine, this book is for you.

Salute!

This remarkable treatise is a comprehensive introduction to the spiritual science of Psycanics, which, in a nutshell, offers a precise scientific codification of the laws of how life works, and it is, as the subtitle indicates, a practical "Operating Manual for the Human Being". Artfully blending philosophy, mysticism, psychology, spirituality and much more, the author presents cutting-edge knowledge of how we create our personal universe. He introduces and demonstrates precise spiritual technologies and creative life skills, the application of which, will empower the reader/student to discover/regain their life purpose and power.

He explains how we create our daily life experience, including all our thoughts, emotions and circumstances. There seems to be no topic concerning human consciousness, spirituality and behavior, however good or bad it may appear, that Psycanics cannot transform and propel towards the ultimate human goals of personal happiness and transforming love.

Not for the faint-hearted, but kindly to the serious seeker of truth and enlightenment, this book is a one-in-a-million opportunity to make sense out of your life and to discover the key to ultimate happiness.

This books describes with clarity the universal laws by which you create your life, whether you know it or not, whether you want it to or not. You will learn that your Power in life comes from understanding how these laws operate and how you can put them to work for you in order to manifest that which you desire. A Must Read for anyone interested in living the life of their dreams.

This is unlike any other book on spirituality I have ever read. Unlike other spiritual books that write about spirituatlity and the characteristics of an aware person, etc., that leave you thinking "how can I reach that level of awareness, or happiness such that it lasts?"; or "how can I truly create my life?". This book does not leave you hanging. It's a practical, hands on approach to truly creating your life.
This is not a "feel good" book. This is a REAL handbook for creating anything you want in your life. This book is a little technical, but it's technical because the information is designed to be implemented and used to create your life. It's an experiential handbook, so be prepared to have some truly amazing breakthroughs.

I took part in the making of this book. My two students and my son Rhydian Tolcher-James are also part of the book.

I would rate this book as perfect for the beginner who is looking to join a reputable martial art and organisation.

David had the right idea when he wrote this very popular book. He needs congratulating.

I am trying to get in touch with the author David Mitchell to tell him of the response we have had.

My husband is a big reptile guy, so I bought him this book for his birthday. He absolutely loved it - great detail about the snake and excellent pictures. The best part was he shared it with my son and now my son is all about the snake, wanting as much information as he can get his hands on. Great book for young and old reptile fans.

I'm not much of a cook, but this is my all time favorite cookbook. I have never made a meal from this book that didn't turn out really well. Even a beginner can be successful with this cookbook. I especially like the fact that the recipes call for mostly fresh ingredients as opposed to canned items.

I have used this book, and others in the series, for years now. There are numerous recipes of quick delicious food that really do take only 30 minutes to prepare. Each page or two is a menu suggesting appetizer, side dishes and a main dish and desert, along with a wine suggestion. I pick and mix the dishes or just run through a whole menu. They have basic dishes and dishes from around the world. Nothing is too complicated and the instructions are very clear. The photographs make everything look great. Highly recommended.

The ABC's of Character for People Around the World I had the honor of seeing this wonderful book prior to it going to press. I told the publisher, Dr. Trevy McDonald of Reyomi Publishing, that this book was a winner--and it is! The illustrations are so beautiful, and the prose is both educational and uplifting. My hope is that posters be made from each of the pages of the alphabet (hint, hint). My personal favorite page is the "letter P". I must get a poster print of that page! Character education is extremely important, and it's important to teach children while they're young. Every daycare center and early education program should have The ABC's of Character for People Around the World on their bookshelves, and teach their students from it.

When I first heard about this book I purchased only one. After I received it and read it I called the author and ask how I could order 1800 copies. My intent is that every Elementary Student in Greenville, South Carolina will have the book read to them by a youth in The Mentoring Group and given a copy. The illustrations are outstanding and the message is Respect,Kindness,Encouragement,Love and Patients. Best of all the Children will love it and read it over and over again. Acts of murder is an excellant book sure to grab even the most reluctant reader. Karl Alberg once again finds him self trying to piece together murders that seem unrelated, yet somehow, he suspects, they are all related. In this book, the lives of several different people, who for the most part do not know one another exist, are intertwined by one person. The cleaning lady has taken it upon her to punish the "sinners". Now, it's up to Karl Alberg and his new female sargent to piece this puzzle together.

After living together for many years, Staff Sargent Karl Alberg and Cassandra Mitchell marry. On that same day, a virus infects the townsfolk of Sechelt, Canada. It begins with the disappearance of a teenage girl, whose corpse was found in a shallow grave over a year later.

A young woman also vanishes after an ugly argument with her now worried spouse. Her body is found near the first body. A housewife thinks she kills her husband when she can no longer tolerate his infidelities. However, when she goes to dispose of the corpse, the body is missing. A waitress at the local diner turns up missing as well.Karl knows that he must uncover the identity of someone who is executing non-repenting sinners.

Laurali R. Wright, who is considered one of Canada's top mystery writers, is actually is one of the world's top crime authors. She is able to capture the mindset of the victims, perpetrators, and authorities with clarity rarely seen in novels. ACTS OF MURDER is actually three stories woven together by decade old actions. However, the book is very atmospheric, depending more on mood rather than action, and why rather than who. Ms. Wright may be in line for another Edgar with this terrific tale.
