i read this book as a child and i loved it. it made everyone i know who read it cry.if u like lurlene mc daniel, you will love this book it was one of my favorites.

okay i know it's been said a thousand times but thus was a great book. it is so far my favorite lurelene mcdaniel book. It tells the story of Julie and her boyfrien Luke and his struggle with leukimia.i won't spoil the ending but it was a real tear jerker. i reccomend all of her books.

The book is called Don't die,My love.It is a tear jerking story.If one likes romance they will like this story.A good romance always pops out
some people and to some it does not and it always captures people in the moment. This certain romance is a realy, really good one and it really popped out to me.When people die it tears people apart.

This was my second time reading Don't Die My Love by Lurlene McDaniel and it made me cry just as hard. This book explains the struggles of going through cancer treatments. Luke and Julie fall in love and their relationship starts to deteriorate as Lukes health takes a turn for the worst, Julie struggles to help and slowly Luke pushes her away. Alot of parts in this book can make you cry because its detailed so well that you can almost see it going on in your head its a touching love story and a MUST READ in my book i will defaniatly be reading it again <3 Lurlene McDaniel is also my favorite author

This is my second time reading this book and what can I say, I cried both times..I love it!!! One of the BEST books I've ever read!!!It is probably one of the saddest book out there as well. Don't Die, My Love is about Luke and Julie who had been childhood lovers and now is in high school and has a love bigger than anything..Luke is the football star quarterback and is madly in love with Julie and she is madly in love with Luke..One day what seems to be a little bump on the neck turned into a serious illness and soon Luke is put into the hospital. Julie, with nothing to do, but be by his side all the way despite of everything..Their love is so powerful and so sweet..This book is definitely GREAT and SAD, it makes your heart wrench..I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone!! It is one that you won't regret reading!!!

A well written book covering investing in no load mutual funds and a list of DONT"S visa vi investing. The author has a method for getting out of the stock market at the right time. Emphasis on taking profits and limiting one's losses. Easy to read.

This book is a gem! Have a paper and pencil ready to take notes to start your own investment portfolio. Keep in mind the Author has been on both sides of the fence as he will tell you, and thereby offers some very insightful and extremely informative ways to help you in the markets. His absolute best advise given in the book is 'cut your losses!'
An outstanding book!

THANK YOU Albert Thomas! I found this book by accident while searching the internet for info on on trend-following for mutual funds, something I was sort-of doing on my own, but without a plan or the great advice Al relays in this book. I'm 13 months into investing using this book's simple method. I started Oct 1, 2006, and to date, my return after all commissions is 37% - the S&P 500 has gone up 14.8% in the same time period.

Al tells you in the book that you can get this kind of return in a bull market, and easily beat the market. From my experience, he's not putting you on. It's such a simple plan, and doesn't require any big amount of time. It's a fun, easy read, it makes sense, and it works. He's a no BS guy and knows what he's talking about.

I was one of the many who were duped into the "buy and hold" mentality over the years - until I lost big 2000-2002. I vowed to never let that happen again. This book really woke me up to how protecting your capital is SO important. This simple tip (and how to do it) combined with Al's showing you how to be in the best ETFs or funds - and WHEN - is fantastic advice. Do get the service he recommends for picking the ETFs/funds, it is WELL worth the small expense. Note that Al is NOT selling a thing, as I've heard other authors do in their books. He's just giving you a fantastic money-making plan.

Do not wait, get this book! Easily the best $20 I've ever spent.

I have to say the jury's still out on this book.

It's a trading manual based on 200 and 50 day moving averages. It uses the simplist of indicators. Hasn't been a bull market yet, so I can't really say how it works. In retrospect it works very well, but so do many back tested strategies. Does have some links to free websites that give timing signals, and you can get the authors e mail newsletter for three months for free. It comes out weekly.

Nevertheless, it is unique in it's style and approach.

I like the fact that the authors e mail shows you his positions and what he bought them at. It's his money in real time. I would buy the book because of it's unique approach and common sense advice. It should be updated to cover ETFs. Even this revised version is four years old.

Buyer beware-It is poorly edited and organized. It needs at least two read throughs plus visiting the sites mentioned and subscribing to the e mail newsleter in order for it all to make sense.

It's a good read and it will probably help you make some money and/or presevre capital.

I've spent a number of years researching and developing my own trading systems that produced average results. Like most people, I don't want to spend most of my time in front of a computer screen watching the price of a stock tick up and down. I was also tired of having to watch for news that might affect my investments. I wanted a method that would allow me to make money and free up my time. Al came through with a simple, but very effective method.
Living in the information age, we forget that simple is often the best. Al helps the investor to know when to be in the market or on the sidelines just watching. Sometimes the hardest action is no action and being on the sidelines with your account in cash can be the best place during a down market.
I enjoyed reading Al's book and I highly recommend it.

I grew up with this book. I would read it over and over to myself and my siblings. When my family moved though It was lost with a couple of other books too. I just recently found it and bought it. I now read it to my daughter and she gets so excited to turn the pages and read the next phrase and see the next picture. I am enjoying both our childhoods. :)

My adult children list The Big Hungry Bear as one of their all time favorite books. In my 21 year old daughter's Children's Lit class at college, one of her assignments was to name her most beloved children's book and she said The Big Hungry Bear topped her list. I am on my second copy with our littlest three (all under 8) -- and they seem to be holding the same opinion as their older siblings. It is a wonderful book -- suspenseful and exciting! The best part is how it draws the reader into the story as a front row participant. We love this book! (And I bet you will too!!!!)

I read to my daughter literally since birth. I amassed an enormous library of all the kids' books I loved as a kid along with mounds of books which were new to me. We went to the library every week. I read, she read, we read.

My daughter is now turning 18 and I wanted to buy her a copy of her favorite book from those times and this is the one I pick -- the one she remembers the most, and so fondly! She still reads A LOT, is in her first year of college and got a perfect 800 on both verbal and writing SAT. I can only take credit for the fact that I bought this book for her 15 years ago :)

My two year old loves this story. I love the illustrations and the simplicity that fits a toddler.

Great book for preschool ages, just make sure you order the right size. I thought I was ordering a regular book, but this one (for around $27) is GIANT. It's like 2 1/2 feet by 2 1/2 feet. I didn't see that clearly listed in the description; I just typed in a search for this title and this was the first one to come up so I ordered it. I later found a regular size is also available through Amazon I think it was listed for around $10.

This book is GREAT!!! It has a ton to mouth-watering recepies and is really worth the money.

I have really enjoyed this cookbook. I'm finding that it's a great source for good, basic recipes for all of my favorite traditional dishes. I also like the variations I've discovered on some old favorites -- the Baked Acorn Squash, for example, which uses orange juice to create a delicious sauce.

I really like this cookbook. Some parts seem very retro and homey, others quite current. A few of the recipes seem so simple you'll wonder why they're in a book, but they're helpful anyway, and sometimes become a springboard to lily-gilding (my weakness). I've only had a problem with one recipe, the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin (the instructions call for way too much time in the oven). I have also had to spice things up a bit for our tastes, but I think families with small children or picky eaters will be happy with the level of seasoning. This book has become my go-to for weeknight recipes especially because they're reliable and mostly utilize pantry items.

Wonderful cookbook! I read the reviews and just had to go out and buy it for myself! I've been looking for a cookbook with EVERY classic American comfort food recipe, and this is it! It has everything from Appetizers (Spinach-Artichoke Dip and Deviled Eggs) to Breakfast (Biscuits and Gravy; French Toast and Oatmeal), Main Dishes (Chicken Parmesan, Turkey Tetrazzini, Crown Roast) to Sides (Green Bean Casserole from scratch!) and luscious Desserts (Apple Turnovers, Chocolate Cream Pie and Lindy's Original New York Cheesecake!). If you love to cook and want to get back to the good old days of comfort food, this book is a must buy!

I was gifted this book at age 16; nearly eight years later I look through it constantly, and realize I always have...it was used as a high-school outdoor-ed text, it is considered the bible by most I know, and it has been around for along time..Three Cheers for the Mountaineers!

This book pretty much covers everything you need to know about mountaineering. It does so in an easy to read, concise style. It really stresses the philosophy of being an educated and environmentally aware mountaineer. The illustrations are also great...very clear and informative.
You won't be disappointed with this book.

Never before have I found such a complete reference manual for how to plan and execute trips in the outdoors. The book is timeless in its core message of preparedness and finding freedom in the outdoors. It collects information from a wide range of topics such as how to choose equipment for your needs to cooking in the outdoors and proper mountaineering skills. There is some discussion of ethics and philosophy, but no more than is necessary.

I purchased this book after recently jumping into the sport of rock climbing. This book is a great guide on many of the fundamentals of camping, hiking, rock climbing, ice climbing, mountaineering, and the outdoors in general. Freedom of the Hills is a very easy book to read and find information easily. There are many diagrams illustrating techniques, knots, and equipment. I was very impressed with this book and will take it with me on all my outdoor adventures from now on!

I first read this in third grade. And re-read it at least a dozen times. I was enthralled by how the dog was trained, how the kid learned to read braille... I even checked out books on braille and tried to make my own using a pin to bump up paper. I'm now in my mid30s and still have vivid memories of this book. Along with "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler," it's in my Top 10 of Childhood. Buy it, read it, love it.

My 3rd grade teacher read this to our class and I remember it to this day, and I'm now 53!! Recommended it to my youngest son to read in 4/5th grade and he loved it. This book should be on a required/recommended booklist for everyone in elementary school.

This was the very first book I actually read all the way through with out zoning out when I was a kid. It held my attention and captured my heart in its true way of expressing a new way one has to live in a moment of tragedy. I was 13 at the time.

I was the kid that always fell asleep in class because absolutely nothing interested me. But this book changed all that...

This book was my favorite book in 3rd and 4th grade. My best friend and I took turns checking it out from the school library, and often explored the concept of "disability" by taking turns pretending to be blind. This story is a classic story of overcoming adversity - it probably would made an excellent tv movie as well. It also is an excellent book for teaching kids about disability awarness, and that kids with disabilities can do lots of important things (like the challenge the main character overcomes in the story). My 9 year old daughter recently read it, and loved it too. She brought it to her 3rd grade class, and the class took turns reading it during free time. So, I think it is timeless!

Follow My Leader is a book written by James B. Garfield. There are different settings in which the story takes place such as a baseball field. The main character in the story is a boy named Jimmy.

Jimmy becomes blind due to a fire cracker. A kid had lit up a firecracker and when he realized that he was in trouble he threw it, but it exploded in Jimmy's face. The kid who threw the fireworks is named Mike Adams.

Ever since the accident Mike became meaner and all of Jimmy's friends stopped hanging around Mike. Jimmy started learning about things that blind people had to do such as learning Braille, how blind people walk in doors, and how to walk with a white cane. But, when Jimmy got a guide-dog he didn't need the cane anymore. Jimmy went to the guide-dog school and after enough training Jimmy got a guide-dog that he named Leader.

At the school, Jimmy's roommate was Mack. Mack had told him to forgive Mike. Mack was a blind man and before he was also mad at the person who made him blind. Then he had learned about how sad the person who made him blind felt so he forgave him he told Jimmy about all of this but, Jimmy didn't, know what to do. What will happen, will Jimmy forgive Mike or will Mike have a guilty conscience forever?

I read this book on the recommendation of a friend. I say that I read it, but really this is more like a book you do. What do you do? You solve the mystery of the poetic story by searching the detailed illustrations for clues. Some clues are more obvious than others, but most clues take real sleuthing to discover. I had so much fun with it, and after about two days of study, I came up with the answer, but there was still so much that I had overlooked. Thankfully, the author reveals all to you in a sealed section at the back of the book. I encourage you to resist seeking the answers until you've tried your hardest to find as many clues as you can. Even if you can't figure out the who dunnit, you will be exited with every clue you find, and will likely hear yourself exclaim, "Ah-ha!". This book is marketed to children but it takes a sharp mind to solve the mystery and discover the clues, so it is really better suited for teens and adults, but even small children will enjoy the story and the amazing pictures. I would give this book as a gift to anyone who enjoys a good brain teaser. So get out your magnifying glass, a notepad and pencil, and have fun!

The story is about Horace the elephant who has decided to celebrate his eleventh birthday, with 10 of his friends in the eleventh month (November) on the eleventh day. After all have arrived the eleven characters participate in eleven games in anticipation of a birthday feast at the eleventh hour of the day. Thus the title of the book - The Eleventh Hour. The day is filled with musical activities, indoor/outdoor games, board games, cards, party games and more. The eleventh hour arrives disappointing the guests with the unexpected disappearance of their birthday feast. Apparently a theft perpetrated by one of the invited guests. Horace saves the day by serving healthy whole wheat sandwiches to all and the birthday cake remains because it had been stored away from the feast. With everyone enjoying the birthday cake, the story closes with a happy ending.

However, this is where one story ends and other mysteries begin. On each page of the book there are puzzles to be solved and clues to lead a more intrepid reader along the trail to the thief of the birthday feast.

I'm a freshman in college and I still love this book. My third grade class room had a set but we were NOT allowed to open the pages in the back! The entire class spent lots of time pouring over the sumptuous pictures and trying to spot each and every hidden...well, I won't give it away. I came across the book in a bookstore recently and bought it immediately because I had such fond memories. Do yourself or your kid a huge favor and buy it!

-- And it's a "kids book"!!!

I'm 26 now, but I remember the astonishment and awe I first felt borrowing this book from my 5th grade class's "library" when I was 10 years old. Back then, I gave up after 4 hours of not being able to figure anything at all out and had to look in the Sooper Sikret Section, but this time around, I got a few more of the clues on my own before having to look up the Section :P

A great book to sate the inquisitive mind of a bright child, honestly. Highly recommended!

Which animal stole the food? Base's lush artwork contains cleverly hidden clues to help the reader solve this mystery. An excellent choice for all ages.

This is the book I've been looking for- tons of information and beautiful pictures. I highly recommend.

This book is filled with incredible pictures. It also contains topical infromation on different animals. The book is broken into sections that allows the reader to look up information easily. DK gives us another high quality informative book. A must have for lovers of animals!

Overall a great valve for the money. Pictures are clear and all in color. Explaines well the breakdown of species. For a book at this price it cannot be beat, but there are some items that I think should have been included. The first is the average life span of the species. It's mentioned for very few animals but it always facinates me to realize how long or short some of these animals live for. Another puzzling exclusion from the book is that humans are not included ... unless humans are not considered part of the Animal Kingdom. Puzzling choice not to include humans.

This is an excellent book! I could not be more satisfied. (However, it is a LARGE book. I expect to be spending several more weeks reading it in detail.)

My kids adore this book, as do many of their friends whom we've given it to. The pictures are excellent, and the level of factual detail is high without being numbing. I don't think we've ever tried to look up an animal what wasn't in here. I recommend it highly.

This children's book is about a King who is very reluctant to get out of the bathtub. His court makes several unsuccessful attempts throughout the course of the day to lure him out of the tub. Instead of getting him out of his bubble bath they end up joining him in the bath partaking in the activity they requested. It takes a creative thought from an unlikely source to figure out how to get King Bidgood to finally get out.

The story line is humorous, repetitive, and entertaining. You can't help but chuckle or at least smile when you turn the page after a failed character has left the bathtub and are standing in the court dripping wet from head to toe. The simple text has a repetitive pattern that is easy for children to catch on to and join in with. The repetition pattern has minor changes from time to time that keep the story progressing. For instance, the line "come in cried the king" is repeated throughout the book but is followed by a different word repeated three times depending on the activity requested; "yum yum yum", "jig jig jig".

The incredibly detailed life like illustrations will keep your attention long after the text on the page has been read. From the small delicate bubbles that float out of the King's bathroom to the elaborate and accurate period clothing of the court. The color use throughout the book changes gradually with each turn of the page. At the beginning of the book "when the sun came up" the general color of the page is yellow then fades into light blue during the day, pink and red in the evening, and finally purple and navy blue "when the night got dark".

I enjoyed this book as a child just as much as I do now as an adult. It's one of those books that every time you read it you'll find something different that wasn't previously noticed. I recommend it for everyone but in particularly grades 1-3 who will comprehend and enjoy this masterpiece.

This is my all-time favorite childrens picture book! The story is simple and delightful. The pictures are fantastic! My kids have studied the details in these pages. Reading it always made them want to go play in the tub for hours. We have worn out our copy and I most recently bought this for a grandchild. If only all childrens picture books were this lovely.

King Bidgood's in the bathtub and he won't get out! This book has been a favorite in my household for years. The illustrations are exquisite and the meter of the verse makes it fun to read. The Wood team have done another wonderful job with this book.

I bought this book many years ago when my now 25 year old daughter was a baby. It is extraordinary. The illustrations are breathtaking, and I remember getting lost in them - much to the disappointment of my children who wanted to get on with the story. I still have the book and still enjoy getting lost in King Bidgood's world.

"Help, help cried the Page" is the captivating beginning of Audrey and Don Wood's picture book King Bidgood's in the Bathtub. The good old King has climbed into the tub and now refuses to get out. This story is a wonderful experience for children of all ages, especially the ones disguised as adults. The simple rhyme and diction coupled with the amazing illustrations allow your young readers to relate to the issues so cleverly addressed in this work of art.

RHYME:
The entire book is written with a simple, repetitive rhyme scheme. There are many benefits to this style. First of all, it works very well for those children who are just developing their reading skills. Children generally, like things that they can repeat and follow even anticipate easily. Wood's repetitions make this easy for many children while her small variations keep the story interesting. Every child will soon be able to sing out "come in" with the king and then wait anxiously for the "boom, boom, boom" the "trout," or even the "jig." The small variations also allow the child to follow the timeline of the story easily which encourages their ability to do `tell backs,' where the child reaches an age when then can relate and retell the story with the appropriate order of events. The simple references that Wood includes to the sun going up, getting hot, growing dim, and the moon shining bright are very clear references that the child can use. The interactions that the child participates in while developing these skills help to keep a child with the shortest attention span involved. Also the excitement that learning will create will keep your parental senses from getting tired of reading the same book again and again because it will never be quite the same to your child.

The repetition of the rhymes can also be connected to repetition of simple acts in both of your lives. There are generally two types of children, one that really hates the bathtub and the other that never want to get out. The bathtub represents a constant, repeating battle in your life either way. Children who do not like to bathe are encouraged to enjoy it by all of the fun things that can be done in the tub. You can do everything from "battle in the tub" to "dance in the tub." What child can say no to that? For the rest of you, the book is about getting out of the tub after all and a simple telling of the story and then an enactment of the end where mom "pulled the plug" can be a wonderful and stress free way to get that very hygiene oriented child out of the bath and into their bed.

DICTION:
Once again the simple text is very beneficial for the new reader. There are no big words to be asked about and worried over, accept maybe "masquerade ball" and the pictures define that one so well that it really isn't a problem. Any child can understand that the page is calling for help and that everyone else is trying and failing. This simple understanding of what seem like big concepts can really help the child to develop a love and excitement for learning. The contrast between the direct call for "help" by the page and the round about reasons to "get out" offered by the members of the court shows how they want the king to get out of the water but are afraid to tell him what to do. They may offend his kinglyness. This is similar to the classic story of the Emperor's New Clothes where while everyone knows that the kind looks ridiculous it takes a poor fool to tell him so. Except in this case the king is in the bathtub and the only one willing to be direct enough and to take affirmative action to get him out is the page.

The very simple diction that Wood employs is in direct contrast to the very elaborate ways that the court members try to remove King Bidgood from the bathtub. In the end it is a simple action by a simple boy that confounds all of their extravagant attempts. This really boosts a child's self esteem. They are able to understand through this very primitive text that their small ideas can make a huge difference because they can see things that the adults in their world miss.

ILLUSTRATIONS:
The amazing illustrations give the child another chance to see things that you, as parents are missing. There are many ways to measure art work that could easily be applied to Wood's illustrations but by name they do not matter to a child at all. What matters is their ability to be incredibly realistic and to bring to life a fantastical story about a king who refuses to get out of the bathtub and all of the fun he has battling, feasting, fishing, and dancing in his bathroom. The illustrations are vibrant and very busy. They immediately capture the child's attention and can keep them entertained finding new details for years to come. When Wood is asked about how she comes up with the ideas for her stories she says that they are a mix of her life, her son's life, and her day dreams. This is clearly represented in the contrast between the simple fanciful text and the complex and realistic pictures. It also relates very well to the child whose mind's reality can be very different from the world that you live in. This book can provide a very productive outlet for the erratic idea's prominent in the life of a young child. The final pages of the book also reinforce a child's confidence in his own ideas. The simple text "glub, glub, glub" is contrasted with the very smug looking page triumphantly holding the plug while the king runs from the room in nothing but his towel and crown. To a child with ideas that seem simple and perhaps even irrational to the general adult world this is the perfect picture of all of the success they can yet achieve.

Children of all ages and even the daring adult can experience the wonder of Audrey Wood's world through the simplicity of the rhyme and diction when it is contrasted with the amazing complexity of the illustrations in King Bidgood's in the Bathtub. Once in this world it is no trouble to learn and grow with the characters. For children it is especially rewarding to relate to the transformation from an overworked and stressed page to a triumphant one.

I have read your book and the way you have met adversity in your life is so admirable and inspiring. You, to my eye, are like the phoenix who flew through the ashes. Although I do not have arthritis, I have made a lot positive changes in my diet in large measure due to your book.

I also got tested for food allergies in keeping with the recommendation in your book and now know to avoid peanuts and realize the signs of inflammation that I was experiencing and ignoring every time I ate them. However, since the testing that I had done was not extensive, I will at some point purchase and benefit from the results of the alcat which you recommend in your book and on your website. My understanding is that the alcat tests one not only for antibodies, but also for sensitivities to 150 foods.

Barbara, your book is such a comprehensive guide for people about all of the kinds of things they should know and can do to heal themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I know someone with rheumatoid arthritis and someone with osteoarthritis. Have recommended your book to both of them.

Your book is a blessing to arthritis sufferers and it is so useful as well to those who just want to nurture themselves in the best, most health conscious ways. It contains proactive health tips for any health conscious individual who wants to be sure to consume healthy foods and avoid foods that cause inflammation in their bodies.

Book was very organized and as a result was clear. The format of explanation and then giving a plan of action was excellent. The only thing it needed to be a 5 Star was a little more humor.

This author has figured out what causes many cases of arthritis. I have osteoarthritis and have been following her recommendations for about a month now. I can already tell a difference in the way I feel. If I cheat, I can really tell the difference the next day. I recommend this book.

A different theory at what causes arthritis, written by someone who generally cured herself. Talks a lot about food sensitivities that cause arthritis and how to figure out what your food sensitivity so you can avoid or reduce your expose thus feel better.

I think this is a good book, but unfortunately, the author's type of arthritis (allergic) is not related to rheumatoid arthritis, which is what my husband has. So, basically, I wasted my money on a book we cannot use.
