This book is a great book if you're new to poker. It is a quick read, concise, and well worth the price. It doesn't matter if you're just playing a "friendly" neighborhood game, or going to Vegas to try your luck.

Winning Poker: 200 Rules, Technique & Strategies is a straightforward guide to mastering gambling card games. Covering a wide range of varients including Texas hold'em, Omaha, Seven-Card Stud, Five-Card Stud, and Five-Card Draw, as well as more unusual variations such as High-Low Chicago, Winning Poker not only describes rules and statistical analyses for calculating odds, but also explains how to read an opponent's tells, analyze a game, decipher poker slang, and more. An invaluable tool for anyone looking to improve their poker game, whether among friends or at a casino, and also a useful resource for better understanding televised poker championships.

Very highly recommended for players ages 8 and older, the "Wizard Junior Card Game" will provide hours and hours of good clean fun based on the popular Wizard Card Game for adults. Young players will acquire basic card game skills with fewer cards and colors instead of suits. Each round uses more cards as the excitement builds. Each player must try to predict the exact number of tricks necessary for them to win in each round, making bids and winning points for each trick. But too many or too few tricks and they could lose points! Complete in and off itself, the "Wizard Junior Card Game' includes 40 cards with 2 Wizards and 2 jesters (32 cards in four different colors and 4 quick rules cards); a custom score pad; instructions; and 20 bidding sheets.

This book is not just for women! This book will help improve anyone's game. I highly recommend it.

Finally a blackjack book written for women in a fun to read style without explanations of why things work!

David Parlett's The A-Z of Card Games, published in Oxford Paperback Reference series, is the best compilation of card game rules I've ever seen, at least in book format. The book is full of interesting games from all around the world - the book has some Finnish games, too! It's an intelligent book and takes card games seriously, unlike many other rule books that seem to be written on autopilot.

Parlett's book passes even the hardest test: it includes few games played with the Tarot pack. That's something fairly rare and always a sign of a good book. This book isn't perfect, though: there are some errors in the rules, but fortunately those are fairly rare. Parlett's style isn't probably the easiest, so I'd recommend this book to people who already know how to play card games and want to learn new, interesting games. This isn't the best first book for card game newbies.

If you like cards, this book is a great choice. It lists several hundred card games in alphabetical order. These include both popular and obscure games from all over the world. Each entry offers clear, easy-to-understand rules for the game.

This is the 2nd edition of the book entitled "A Dictionary of Card Games" written in the early 1990s by the same author. Since I have a copy of the older edition, I wondered whether buying this new edition would be worth it. I can report that it definitely was. This updated edition adds some new international games, from countries such as China and Vietnam, that have not before been published in English.

As a card hobbyist, I've bought a dozen or so books on card games. One of the few as good as this is from the same author, entitled "Penguin Encyclopedia of Card Games." That book organizes games by type, whereas this one lists them alphabetically.

You can't go wrong by buying either book (or just get both!). May all your deals be happy.

I am a 4th grade teacher and my students love these games. I use them as literacy centers. My students help make the game boards and I laminate the cards so I can use them over and over again. You will love ALL the books

All you need is a economical deck of cards!!! If you can buy the deck called "patience" or mini size are small for solitaire.

The standard central goal for a player of STCCG is to obtain 100 points, primarily by completing missions or objectives. This is done by bringing personnel, ships and equipment into play, then moving an attempting team to a mission. Once a mission attempt starts, the personnel will create away teams to encounter dilemmas which will challenge them in some way. Often if the personnel have the required skills or attributes they can overcome certain dilemmas' effects. Once the required dilemmas are passed, the personnel still active in the attempt must have the skills and/or attribute totals required by the mission to solve it. If the mission is solved, the player earns the printed points.

Other aspects of the game increase player interactions: ships and personnel can battle, or otherwise affect each other; cards like events and interrupts can alter the environment for one or more players; and points can be scored using methods other than mission solving.

One of the most attractive themes of the game is the differences between affiliations. These are groupings of ships and personnel based on the major interstellar powers of the Star Trek universe, and most decks will be based around one, or perhaps two, of these groups though first edition in particular allows the use of many powers.
