A buon intenditor......

While the book was readable I was acutally dissapointed in the fact that what trials were included, they didn't seem to be well searched out, more as though they were writing about gossip on the street. I hate to say anything bad but I do not believe that this is worth the money I spent to purchase it with.

A very slim volume at a very big price--what little information there is in it is interesting but can be found elsewhere.

I'm a Colombian living in Montreal Canada, and I just wanted to buy a book that showed the life of Colombia. But this book doesn't show the real life of Colombia. Is not an objective book. It doesn't tells the complete overview or the truth. It just gives a small and uncomplete idea of the rural and most poor parts or places of Colombia. And it doesn't reflects at all, the real life of Colombian People. The book excludes completely all the beautiful major cities, the normal style of life of the metropolitan areas or the urban life style. It excludes all the modern and technological side of the country. In the hole book, you can't find a photograph of BOGOTA D.C., the capital city!! or Medellin city, another major and pretty city. There are no photos of any University, or a famous shopping mall. The book only shows the most poor, undeveloped and sad views of Colombia. I know that Colombia as, any other South American country, has many economic and social problems. But is not a 100% poor country, with only jungles, and no cities, no schools, no universities, no malls, no world trade centers, no big buildings or important constructions or no technology. I just waste my money!!! This is NOT Colombian life. Don't buy this book. This doesn't deserves even 1 star. I give a rate of 0 stars.

havent bought it but browsed all pages and this is a terrible book on getting to know the negro psyche. can anyone measure intellectual capacity and competency with standaarized tests and controlled group testing. The authors obviously wanted a scientific solution to make black kids act like white kids. Why don't you look for what does work exclusively for blacks instead of compare compare compare!

The delicate balance of quality and price
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 9 total.

Saludos was intended for college students of Spanish who can not afford the more expensive books in the market. However, it fails miserably in achieving its goals. First, at 100 dollars for a softcover book plus a student manual and one audio CD, the learning materials are too expensive for what they are worth.
Second: the graphic design and visual materials are terribly unattractive.
Third: this first edition is riddled with typos and more serious mistakes, such as the sentence in the student manual "refer to page 73" when this page is blank on the textbook.
Finally, the only positive aspect of the book is that it attempts to reduce the number of grammatical structures in the first 5 lessons. Instructors might be drawn to this book because it offers the possibility of teaching all the lessons in two semesters. But because of its poor organization and very skimpy glossary, I dare say that students are not enthusiastic about their learning materials, which might later on backfire on a teaching program.
Bottom line: don't buy it --- keep searching for better books.

Like a lot of textbooks, this one forces starving students to buy a mediocre book at best when any would do. There is nothing special about this book. It has the usual back-and-forth dialogue between people and typical suggestions of exercises that have been around forever.

Fine book, based on the song by Oscar Brand, but this "2007 edition" has the same ISBN as the 1998 issue and seems identical in every aspect.
