The collection of quotations found in this book would warm any music lover's soul. They vary from witty to touching, but whatever the emotion the quotes chosen convey it is found in simple elegant phrases that have stayed with me long past the reading. Many repertoires of music are covered, so the appeal is wide. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to express a simple musical sentiment and can never quite find the words to say it.

This book is one of my favorites to keep on the shelf by my computer. I find myself flipping through it often for an idea to spark a piece of writing or a quote with which to begin a math lesson. I find myself being surprised by the ruminations of some famous mathematicians and famous non-mathematicians. Some quotes are from something they said, others from what they wrote, and some are even from poems composed. They inspire laughter, contemplation, a grin (as we hear quotes from people confused about math), and even a desire to go out and examine the world with wonder... as mathematicians do.

I also need to add that they did a fantastic job of designing the book. There are illustrations and cartoons that compliment the different quotes or make interesting points all on their own. This is no small book of quotes either -- not "a quote a page" -- but more of a slender pocket volume with easy-to-read type and up to four quotes on a page.

I recommend this book for anyone -- it's not just a math thing!

But any math teachers out there? BUY THIS! You can use some of these to start some wonderful lessons, mathematical conversations, and even some writing in your classroom.

This book will bring a smile to anyone's face. Great as a gift for a dear friend.

This is a lovely book. I will giving this book to all my animal loving friends. There is a poem and quote on every page about how special pets are in our lives. The illustrations are beautiful. Jim Daly's art really captured the soul of dogs and cats in this book. Don't buy just one book, you will want many to give away.

This book is sweet. Personally, it inspired me to write a small book to my mom - filled with just what I have in my heart to tell her and show her. I'm just learning to love my mom as woman-to-woman and not little-daughter-to-big-mamma and this book really touched me and showed me the need to love my mom back! read it....it's good!

This book explains how the basis of all religions and paths to God have the same origin - the God-into-expression power. It also presents what to look for when seeking the Truth.

I bought this for my sister, who greatly enjoyed it. The quotations are witty and contain more than a grain of truth.

I found a ragged copy of this book in the public library many years ago and have loved it ever since. With many contributions by many different authors 'Nighttouch' spans the entire spectrum of the horror genre. From spooky little poems to excerpts from longer works (such as 'Dracula') to short stories and even a few news articles and a TV script from 'The Twilight Zone' this book creates a tingle in the spine and scares you in all the right ways. Relying more on being creepy and creating atmosphere than splashing blood and guts it's also a good book for kids who like to be scared, though many of the stories are simply beyond the understanding of a very young child.

Dr. Peale begins by talking about his friend, the late Ely Perry of Kinston, North Carolina who "never ceased to amaze me by his insights, his depth of understanding, and his zest for life." He tells us Mr. Perry had an extensive personal library of spiritually based motivational books, each one extensively marked with comments in the margins. He uses his friend to illustrate the value to be gained from interacting regularly with achievers who have left their legacy to us in print form. Books contain thoughts that significantly impact one's life. Thoughts are mental food. We get to select the diet. He uses his mother as another illustration, writing "her books were marked and marked again, and any sentence that was good was underscored."

Like all of Dr. Peale's other books, this one is full of practical wisdom. He doesn't just cite the principles, he teaches you how to apply them. This book truly does live up to its title.

I keep this book handy at all times. Reading each passage is how I start my day and I often reflect back on the daily "insights." I recommend this book to ANYONE and EVERYONE as the thoughts are inspiring and thought provoking.
