Texas, being the largest state south of the Canadian border, is not only big, but it has been observed as one of the most unique states. Politicians, entertainers, media, visitors, wanna-be Texans, and many home grown locals can tell you what is great about Texas. "1001 Greatest Things Ever Said About Texas" is just that - a conglomeration of quotes expressed by many famous and not so famous people.

A smile came across my face when I read this blurb from a traditional cowboy song because it brought back memories of me singing it as a child:

"Then come and sit by my side ere you leave us,
Do not hasten to bid us adieu,
Just remember the Red River Valley
And the cowboy who loved you so true."

Most of us remember when President Kennedy was shot and what we were doing when we heard the news. But, do we know that Lady Bird Johnson, just moments before the shots rang out, said to the President:

"You can't say Dallas doesn't love you!"

Infamous Texas' own, Audie Murphy said:

"Bravery is just determination to do a job that you know has to be done."

Lee Trevino explains:

"If you've ever driven across Texas, you know how different one area of the state can be from another. Take El Paso. It looks as much like Dallas as I look like Jack Nicklaus."

Donna Ingham's compilation, "1001 Greatest Things Ever Said About Texas," is a great bathroom book, or a book left in a guest room for visitors to enjoy while appreciating the humor and seriousness of Texas. Everyone will enjoy reading the quote and eventually come up with the same conclusion as William Blakley did: "Texas is neither southern or western. Texas is Texas."

This is the first in the series of seventeen one liner books I have done on sports. This book was so much fun to compile. If you love the great characters of sports and the things they said, then you will love this book. They're all here from Ali to Jordan. The many quotes that were arranged and can be found in this book are excellent for use in your daily walk and for much instruction in the Lord. I found these to be quite useful in understanding certain topics found in the Bible, and sometimes found Spurgeon's quotes to be quite humorous. If there is any quotation book to get, this is a must have!

It is a greate guide to develop and esteem our life.This book has an ability to cure the mental diseases and guide the readers to reestablish mental health. It is really an amazzing guide to human beings.

The paragraph-long tips, insights, and observations are grouped according to subject matter - from auditioning to working in an ensemble to theatre and cinema vs. television - and cross-referenced by means of an index. A superb source of inspiration for anyone pursuing amateur or professional theatre. A sample quote from noted theatrical performer and Star Trek star Patrick Stewart: "Someone once defined to me craft - or technique as I've always thought of it - as being what you use when you don't feel it anymore."

Advice Southern Style is a cute book, with good and humorous advice. My company always loves to read this book. It's worth every dollar.

I recently lost my mother, so I was delighted to come across this inspirational (and instructional) jewel. The quotes by Catholic thinkers and the lovely essays by Cavolina and Bunson make this book a comforting addition to my night table. "All Shall Be Well" is also excellent gift material.

This book was written by Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, and radio talk show host. Bob Phillips is a humorist and author. The book has over 2000 quotes covering hundreds of topics by Americans and about Americans. It also has lots of bible quotes and quotes by other non-Americans such as Alexander Pope and Cervantes for example. Quotes: Where do you go to get anorexia? ~Shelley Winters. Of two evils, choose neither. ~ Charles Spurgeon. Once I was a tapole when I began to begin. Then I was a frog with my tail tucked in. Next I was a monkey on a coconut tree. Now I am a doctor with a Ph.D. ~Anon. If you don't get everything you want, think of the things you don't get that you dont want. ~ Oscar Wilde.

I know that a lot of people are looking forward to Bush leaving office but not everyone. For the world's comedians and humorists, it will be a dark day because so much of their fodder will be going away. If nothing else, George Bush has proven to be one of the greatest sources of political humor since Gerald Ford was in office. Look, I don't agree with many Bush bashers who consider him unintelligent. I think Bush is a pretty smart guy but I just don't think he expresses himself very well. He is a good ol' boy at heart and unfortunately for him, that often comes through when he speaks. To Bush's credit, he certainly knows his limitations. In fact one of the quotes in this book find Bush admitting that he's not exactly a great linguist.

You can tell by just seeing the cover with those rolling plastic eyes that this is going to be a screamer and it doesn't disappoint. "Am-Bushed" is humorist Leland Gregory's collections of Bush's language oddities garnered throughout his Presidential terms. Sometimes you have to read the quotes two or three times to even understand them and then you're stunned that any person, much less our president could stumble so much in the realm of public speaking. Such is his charm.

Some of my favorite quotes: "Most people in Arkansas know where Texas is and all the people in Texas know where Arkansas is." Speaking in front of a group of Arkansas school children and basically insulting the state of Arkansas.

Here's a classic, "Nobody can threaten this country. Oh, they may be able to bomb a building..." Wow!

And then there is this one: "August was a month of accomplishment here in Washington." Said on August 2, 2002!

Besides the quotes there's also a Bush dictionary containing dozens of misused or completely made up words. Pure genius! Great little book!

This is a great coffee table book -- lots of beautiful pictures of our country, people can look at it, read the short passages, put it down, pick it up again later. I will keep this book for a long time.
