Beautiful, deep yet accessible intro to Jewish womanhood

Although this book is structured as a line-by-line analysis of the famous proverb "Eyshes Chayil," (in English, "Woman of
Valor"), it actually is a fountain of practical advice on how to build your character into that of the Biblical feminine ideal.
For example, Rebbetzin Heller takes the statement "She seeks wool and flax..." and makes of it that we must use just the right
quantities of strength and kindness in raising our children, and pay attention to which is called for at any given moment.
You could say men are from Mars and women are from Venus, but if you want to become a refined, dignified Venutian with a shining
soul, this book is an important and beautiful guide.

I'd already traveled to Moscow 10 times or so before I bought this guide. However, it showed me places to go and things to
do in a great, logical manner with really nice color pictures to go along with it. The maps were helpful. Included info
on Metro stops. A friend of mine who also travels on company business to Moscow bought the same book independently. We both
thought it was a really great guide. BUY IT!

MYSTICAL TRADITION DEMYSTIFIED

Dr. Schochet's "The Mystical Tradition", the first volume of an astounding trilogy called "The Mystical Dimension," is an
extra-ordinary text that demystifies the Jewish mystical tradition, known as "Kabbalah" to make it understood even by laymen.
The first part ("To Be One With the One") explains the basic objective of the Kabbalah and Hassidism: what they teach, their
perspective of world, mankind, life, the bond between the material and spiritual, Divine monism and so forth. With practical
examples, relating the subject-matters to science and philosophy, carefully annotated to let the original texts speak for
themselves, the reader will not only be informed and educated but inspired. The author succeeds in making the contents a
relevant living reality, far beyond the merely academic. The second part, "Authentic Tradition vs. Subjective Intuitions,"
is an absolute must-reading to understand the fundamental difference between historical Jewish Mysticism and "new age philosophies,"
currently popular neo-Kabbalah teachings in vogue with Hollywood stars, and other cults. It offers important insights to
distinguish authentic tradition from subjective cults. The third part explains the rise in the promulgation and popularization
of Kabbalah and Hassidism in the last 2 centuries after the Jewish mystical tradition was generally kept cocealed and reserved
to the learned initiates. This volume, along with the other 2 ("Deep Calling Unto Deep" and "Chassidic Dimensions") which
deal with more specific subjects (the mystical dimensions of Prayer, Repentance,Inter-human relations, Ritual Laws, the
Concept of the Saint etc., is an absoilute must-reading for anyone interested in obtaining an authentic view based on, and
culled from, the original sources of the Kabbalah and Hassidism.

Another mindfield of information, knowledge and wisdom from two "giants" of the astrological world. A collection of fascinating
lectures from the Jupiter-Saturn conference (1981), I particularly enjoyed the sections on relationships and synastry. There
are a few gems shared in this book that you will not find anywhere else. The title is right! Insights abound!

When I travel, I buy two kinds of guidebooks: one that offers a lot of history and details about places to visit and another
one that fits in my pocket and offers the most detailed maps. I study the first book prior to my trip or in my hotel and use
the latter one to navigate places, because I hate blatantly giving myself away as a tourist as I unfold a huge map in the
middle of the street. "Not For Tourists Guide to NYC" was just perfect because it had all of the streets illustrated by neighborhoods
and included street numbers as well. For each neighborhood, there are three maps: one that offers a list of places to eat
or entertain, one that shows essential services like police station or the post office, and finally one that shows the area
with subway stops and parking spots. In addition to its small size, the cover was entirely black and chic, which made me feel
comfortable pulling it out on the streets or even on the subway. It was my first extended visit to NYC last weekend and my
friend and I gave directions to five or six tourists/New Yorkers in three days! Everyone who asked for directions was very
impressed with my NFT Guide, as were my friends who live in the city. I plan to relocate to NYC later this year and am confident
that my NFT Guide will help me get acquainted to the city as quickly as possible. If you are like me and want accurate directions
while blending in with the natives, I highly recommend that you bring a copy of the NFT Guide with you. Since this book mainly
consists of highly detailed maps only, I recommend that you also buy another guidebook that offers you background history
and/or information on sightseeing, if you want to know info such as museum hours of operation, history of certain buildings,
anecdotes, etc. I just hope that NFT brings more guidebooks on other cities in the USA and beyond!

I love these authors! This work was my first introduction to Nemeck and Coombs. Not only is it an excellent introduction to
the tenets of St. John of the Cross, it also provides tremendous insight into addiction and attachment, both of which are
prevelant in the human condition. Although he lived in the 16c, John of the Cross offers much to contempary Christians interested
in being freed from the bondage to self. I highly recommend this, and all books by Nemeck and Coombs.

Did you ever wonder what a vision of a Communist society would look like? Then check out Bob Avakian's new book, "Observations
on Art and Culture,Science and Philosophy". In this book, a vision on an exciting, vibrant and colorful new society where
there is no oppression of people on the basis of their nationality, gender, color or sexuality exist. Where the masses of people
are really the makers of history and play an active role in changing the world. Where people not only work and take care of
their families, but also engage in art and culture and science and philosophy and debate and challenge each other and have
fun doing it. This is a vision of society totally different from the superstitious and deadening hell that we currently live
in. Think back to Hurricane Katrina and envision if the people ran this society, the outcome would have been totally different.

I recommend this book highly. Reading "OMT Insights", along with "Design Patterns", has had a profound effect on my thinking
about analysis and design. The book is worth it for the discussions of Model/View/Controller and reification alone.
I particularly liked the format of the book. It was like reading short stories! The columns are short enough where it's
possible to gain valuable information in a short period of time.
