This book leads the reader through an exploration of motivation, direction, purpose and passion, then lays a pathway for re-orientation. It makes for easy, enjoyable reading, while it stimulates deep soul searching, and a hunger for a closer and deeper relationship with God. I couldn't put it down.

A wake up call for all desiring a focused lifestyle.

I would recommend this book as a "must" to read not just in ministry, but the CEO and President. If you find yourself in a "mid-life-crisis", lost your drive. There is a good possibility you need to re-aim in order to re-gain a fresh perspective. You cannot just read this, you must meditate on the content. This is a "life application" manual.

It is an honor to be the first to review Nourishing Nuggets on this web page. Like the title suggests, this is a delicious and very filling "meal" broken down into manageable bite-size pieces!

One thing I really appreciate about this book is that it is reader-friendly --- full of substance and truth, but written in short, simple to read chapters. Though I finished it in one sitting, I really think it would make a GREAT devotional.

Nourishing Nuggets presents God's Word in a simple, down-to-earth way that meets us where we are,but challenges us to grow in our relationship with the Lord. Each chapter not only presents a Bible truth, wrapped in scripture, but also shows us how to apply that truth to our everyday walk with God. Consecration, holiness, faith and victory are recurring themes of the book. [One note: Have some tissues ready for Chapter 17: "It is Finished."]

I was privileged to sit under the teaching of author Betty Weaver for many years and am thrilled to now have a small part of her knowledge and wisdom in written form at my disposal in this powerful little book. It doesn't take many chapters to realize that the author has truly heard from God and has lived the pages she has penned. I think this adds a refreshing, genuine quality to the book that is unmistakable.

I highly recommend this challenging, inspirational, and thought-provoking book of nourishing little nuggets for every day life.

A timely book for Baby Boomers
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2003-10-20
Ken Fortini has written a timely and provocative book and workbook for ageing Baby Boomers. The premise is simple and elegant. In a series of questions, Fortini engages the reader in looking back over his or her life and remembering signicant events and people who were important in forming one's character and presence context. These are some examples:

I remember the first person who was kind to me.
I remember the first time I went to my favorite place on earth.
I remember the first thing I bought for someone else that really was for me.
I remember the first time I traveled away from home by myself.
I remember the first time I thought I was going to die.
I remember the first time I took a stand that was unpopular.
I remember the first time I thought through a difficult problem.
How would you answer these questions?

Have my love, sharing, wisdom, and action helped other people?
What single experience changed the direction of my life?

Each question is followed by a space where the reader can write down her responses. Sounds simple but I found the results both moving and revealing and cause for further introspection.

This is a mix of Numerology and the psychology of the Enneagram. The Numerology in this book is as complete as any I have read and is in the style of Juno Jordan. The personal insights gained from this book were very helpful. Numbers are explained along with how they developed from childhood and how they function in relationships, parenthood, and more.

This is a very good book and one of the only references you will need.

This is one of the best books on Numerology I have read in the last decade. It has the insight and wisdom of the Enneagram system coupled with the style of Juno Jordan's older work on numerology. The book goes into great detail regarding the personality types and life paths. It then starts with the personal years and ends with the personal day influences.

Super book, as was her book on Tarot.

This is an excellent book. Although focused on children and adults with Learning Disabilities (I prefer the term Learning Differences) it can be a model for life in general. I highly recommend it.

If you are learning disabled, if you know a child who is learning disabled, if you know an adult who is learning disabled, this book will teach you all you need to know to understand the suffering a learning disability creates. At the same time, the book provides tales of inspiration and lots of practical advice. A must read on this subject.

ANOTHER TRIUMPH FOR LAROCQUE
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.

Another delightful, albeit small, book on language by Paula LaRocque. She is spot on with her observation that an oft reaction by people when they hear others, with inveterate ignorance, using such grating and incorrect constructions as "very unique" or "this is between you and I", is a compelling urge to publicly correct them.

With some authors one wonders why they have written so much - with LaRocque one regrets she has not written more. Not only is her writing informative and entertaining, there is a certain charm about it.

Ever puzzle over the correct uses of 'a', 'an', 'as', 'quotation marks', 'apostrophes', and 'commas'? After reading LaRocque's 'On Words - Insight Into How Our Words Work - And Don't' you will puzzle no more.

Her chapter on Shakespeare's birthday is a gem as is the one on the word 'father'. Did you know that etymologically there is a nexus between the words 'father' and 'food'? There is. Reading this book is a veritable feast - movable or otherwise.

A delightful, spellbinding journey though the wonderful world of words.

Paula skillfully guides you on a fun-filled adventure through the world of words.

Improve your communication skills. Expand your vocabulary. Spend time today reading this fun-filled, easy read to refresh and broaden your command of the English language.

Whether you're looking to improve or expand your communication skills, reading "On Words" is time well spent! Paula's approach is fun, light-hearted, and easy to read. While at the same time, she packs a punch as she discusses uses and mis-uses of a variety of words.

Paula makes it entertaining and fun as she refreshes and expands your command of the English Language. Only wish I had her book years ago.

This book is well organized and easy to use as a reference. Each chapter has a different author. The topics are varied and well presented. The text is easy to read. The chapters on the body approaches to working with panic were the most interesting for me. I also would point out that after some chapters a listing called "end notes" is included whch provides the reader with sources of further information, and in a few instances a way to contact the author of a given article.

It is interesting how some of the best restaurants are littlehole in the walls that are hard to find. That is the case here with'Paul J. Meyer and The Art of Giving'. This book is a gem, and even amazon.com says it is hard to find.

This book is a testamentary to the goodness in giving. We all know it is better to give than to receive, Paul Meyer is a perfect example. There is story after story of the rewards in giving. You will receive the strength to lead your life in stewardship from this book. "What goes around comes around!" That saying is so true when it comes to giving.

The biblical basis in this book is a very strong feature and a welcome breath of fresh air in a book. "Give, and it will be given to you" Luke 6:38. "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything in prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6-7. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phillipians 4:13. These are just a few, all good for the soul and one's strength in spirit. This is a great book. Read it and be blessed. Thank you.

Through the words of Dr. Haggai and the life example of Paul J. Meyer, I have been unexpectedly swept up into the exciting world of sacrificial giving. There are very few examples like this of businessmen who model the JOY of sacrificial Christian giving. All I can say is that when I read about Paul, I was challeneged to do likewise. The book truly was the start of a great adventure for me as a businessman. Read it and let it transform you as well.
