The book by Prof. Diniz is indeed amongst the best on adaptive signal processing. Most of the fundamental concepts are well
explained, suitable examples are given and practical applications are also discussed. The chapter on adaptive IIR filters
is unique and still cannot be found in any other book. Moreover, solutions to the problems can be obtained by ftp, which is
something very useful for students. Despite this is an excellent book (5 star), the price is ridiculous, as occurs with most
titles from this publisher. If I were Prof. Diniz I would change from Kluwer Academic Publishers to a more competitive publisher.
A great book that describes the theory in a concise way.

Dr. Paulo Diniz has a unique view of the Adaptive Filtering field, due to years of extensive teaching experience. His book
on Adaptive Filtering is a complete reference to the field, describing the theory in a concise way. The book develops the
most important results in the field in less than 500 pages, including one chapter on IIR Adaptive Filtering - something that
Haykin cannot beat.
The book is appealing to anyone who is interested in Adaptive Filtering and needs an extremely complete and concise reference. Highly recommended.

In buying this book, at first I was a little reluctant to do so because I thought that the "Dummies" books were for, well,
dummies. However, after doing an extensive search for books on PhotoDeluxe, I found that there were few. Of those, the only
ones that are currently in print are a Quickstart book, which usually isn't that informative, and Adobe PhotoDeluxe 4 For
Dummies. As a graphic production artist who is starting a career, I needed a book that could get me up to speed fast on PhotoDeluxe.
I was particularly interested in the area of color correction, since that was my most pressing need at the time. The book,
despite its title, exceeded all my expectations and I have gained a lot from it. It familiarizes you in the many features
of PhotoDeluxe in a way that's easy to understand, without insulting your intelligence. The book covers everything, from
color correction to the many special effects that PhotoDeluxe is capable of producing. In fact, from reading this book, I
have learned that PhotoDeluxe is more similar to its higher priced counterpart, PhotoShop, than I thought it was.
In closing, I highly recommend this book to anyone who desires to learn how to use PhotoDeluxe. In comparison with other books on graphic software, this one's as good as any other.

After trying on my own for a long time, I bought this book. I recommend it to anyone who is not an electronics whiz and wants
to make the most of Photo Deluxe 1, 3 or business edition. It was very helpful. I did things not covered in any manual.

The Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 Book is an excellent companion for the program. It is written in a simple, factual style and
offers insights to program features that would otherwise be difficult to find without hours of exploration. I am glad I bought
this book.

When I got this book, I was already an experienced user of digital cameras and Photoshop Album. But I still learned a lot.
Apart from every detail you might want on how to get the best from the software, there's lots of interesting background on
digital imaging. It's written in a very readable style, which encourages you to do more than dip in to look things up.
Throroughly recommended!

This book is an outstanding, in-depth introduction to the science of aerial photography. At the outset, it must be said that
this book does not tell you how to bring in, register, or project your aerial photo in a particular GIS application. What
it does tell you is how that photo came about and how it might be interpreted or used. The text reads well, but does require
the reader's full attention to absorb all the information.

Interesting essays on Kantian themes
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2005-10-06
Review Date: 2005-10-06
This is a series of four lectures, the first two of which were delivered at Stanford University in 1990, by Dieter Henrich,
an expert in philosophy from Kant to Fichte. The other two come from other public events in 1983 and 1989.
The first lecture deals primarily with Kant's moral basis, and looks broadly at the whole Critical project, with special emphasis on the third. Henrich deals briefly with ontological issues from 'Critique of Pure Reason' and Kant's metaphysical writing. Henrich traces Kant's thinking to the point where the third critique is possible. 'The book as a whole is shaped as a partial discipline within philosophy as an ascent. The very notion of a reflective judgement is the notion of an ascending power of the mind.' Henrich himself has arguments with the ontological and epistemological structures Kant sets up, but 'although our analyses have shown that Kant's books cannot be used as sources of everlasting insight,' he did in the end found a movement from which we cannot easily escape, and, according to Henrich, 'with which we can and should remain affiliated.'
The second lecture deals primarily with Kant's third critique, 'Critique of Judgement', and looks at epistemological difficulties with Kant's ideas of transcendentals, as well as the various notions that Kant had used in his early Critiques being used in the same way in the aesthetics. Henrich develops Kant's use of the idea of harmonious play quite a bit, and states for Kant 'it must be this distinctive state of our cognitive faculties upon which aesthetic judgement is founded.' Kant was a formalist, believing that all ideas of beauty and aesthetic quality must be derived from fundamental principles that are consistent. Henrich argues 'that Kant himself had only a limited insight into the details of his own theory,' and that there is still much to be learned from an analysis of the 'Critique of Judgement.'
The third and fourth lectures both develop moral themes based on ideas of human rights and autonomy, as well as various political situations (most particularly, the French Revolution). Any claim for a universal idea of human rights involves making a reference to the moral image of the world, according to Henrich. This same is true for political community and action. Henrich argues that we need to be careful about exhibiting colonialist/imperialist ideas in oppressive ways under the guise of seeking universals.
These are interesting essays that develop Kantian ideas in context of later developments in philosophy and politics, and give insight for the way in which these concepts continue and will continue to be of influence.

This is a very useful little collection of essays, by one of the few contemporary German scholars who have dealt extensively
with the third Critique. Henrich has some radical and laudable thoughts on the cognitive status of judgments of beauty.
The collection is, however, by no means limited to consideration of aesthetic matters, and shows a deep understanding of the
whole of Kant's writings.

After Image is much more than a marketing and branding education. Grant communicates very powerfully the change in structure
and thinking that is necessary for individuals and for us as whole to succeed in the 21st Century. His explaination of moving
from a work/status ethic to a continuous learning/collaborative/networking ethic provides a structure for individuals, organizations
and countries to base their readiness for the real work of the 21st Century.

Artist and author Eric Shanower retells the story of the Trojan War in his unique graphic novel series "The Age Of Bronze".
Shanower's opus is laid out incorporating the perspectives of both the Greeks and the Trojans. His artwork is visually detailed.
His attention to accuracy in historical detail and minutia is truly impressive. His ability to make these historic characters
speak in a modern linguistic style but still remain absolutely believable to the reader is the mark of a master storyteller.
Complex, definitive, and memorable, Shanower is able to perfectly capture the basic drives, emotions, ambitions, loves, obsessions,
jealousies, hardships, and human frailties of all the men and women, from bit players to center stage stars of one of the
most popular sagas in all of human literature. As informed and informative as it is engaging and entertaining, "Age Of Bronze:
Betrayal, Part One" is the first hardcover volume in this outstanding series and is enthusiastically recommended for school
and community library collections, as well as the personal reading lists of history buffs and non-specialist general readers
with an interest in this ancient history and the enduring recognizability of the human condition.
