I'll make this short...this book is easily one of the greatest ever published on a rock and roll band. Exceptionally well-produced. Great photographs brilliantly reproduced. Brilliant layout. Quality construction of the book and its cover. Nice essays by various folks connected with the band. But the photos are the thing. As I understand it, this is a very limited run. Buy one before they go on ebay one day for $1000. Oh...don't forget that the band and the photographers sign your copy as well.

This book, while steep on Amazon.com, [...]. It comes in a fantastic hardcover case, as well as a stunning dustjacket... However, the star is the 180some pages of photographs detailing the Flaming Lips up-and-coming, rise to popularity, and today in about the best photo book I've ever seen.
The images, when not colorful or imaginative, are a gritty reminder of where the band came from - Oklahoma. These guys did not set out to be superstar rock icons; it was sort of an "accidental career," as they titled one of their CDs not too long ago. The commentary from the band and photographers makes the book read like a movie - plenty of pictures, but not a whole LOT of dialogue! The pictures do not grow old, though, and you tend to see something different every time you open the book.
The autographs at the beginning add to the book's value, however, if they ever do a reprint without the autographs or limited numbering, it would be the same book. [...]...and all your bad days will end.

This is not just a collection of pictures about one area out of many, but a book that seems to be written especially for those that hold Wall Township dear. I look at it often and always feel like I'm back home again. Allenwood's still almost as nice a place as it was back in the 60's when I grew up there, and the pictures of my Great-Uncle Josh's place brought a lump to my throat. I'll buy copies for everybody in my family when I can find them.
Better buy two copies!

Everyone I know has borrowed this book. Most of the pictures include detailed descriptions of the location and direction the photographer was facing. You'll want to visit the modern day sites just to compare. Very interesting historical tidbits as well. If you are a Wall resident or if you have ever even visited Wall, you will thouroughly enjoy this book

The material was well chosen and well laid out by the author. It offered warm recollections of places from my life growing up in Wall Township. I am pleased to see this publication, and one immediately recognizes that Mr. Napoliton has to be a local resident. I recommend it to anyone with interest in NJ local history. I personally purchased copies for my three children and have sent a couple to former classmates. I keep my own copy on my bedside so I can doze off with fond memories of a great place to grow up.

This book has clearly been written by an expert. Page writes skillfully and creatively about the mysteries and fantasies in the history of this town. He is a master storyteller, and has clearly done an immense amount of research and interviewing with the actual citizens of Watchung. The collection of pictures is absolutely breathtaking. I am dying to see this beautful town after seeing and reading all about it. Thank you David Page, for this wonderful book.

This book, through it's thorough application of the double-quartet method of learning, delves deep into the P-squad of Watchung. Mr. Page has created a tradition-filled Super Fun Collection of historical observations that only serve to keep the interest in New Jersey "moving right along". This book serves to take us all ten-feet backwards into the past. Mr. Page, more than anyone, realizes that "nothing happens in the spring".

If you find Jung's thoughts on individuation compelling, you will probably love this book. Having embraced the path of individuation for her own life, Helen certainly makes a substantial contribution to those who are on a similar path. It is a beautifully written book that is intelligent, thought-provoking and compassionate. It provides invaluable insights and I find myself returning to this book regularly to re-read parts of it. Helen gives her own unique perspective in applying Jung's ideas to the everyday struggles faced by us all, particularly the challenges faced by those who seek greater consciousness. After reading this book, I felt an overwhelming gratitude to Helen: her rich humanity penetrates her words and she provides an inspiring example of a person who embraced a full and courageous life.

Helen M. Luke's clarity of mind permeates every word in this extraordinary book. Her insight into Jungian thought and her own interpretation of Jung's ideas give us a book which is one of a kind. The chapter on Orual especially interested me. The author explains our desire and need to be close to other women and how this can be a danger and a blessing. I have read some paragraphs over and over. This is the kind of book you keep and hopefully give copies to your friends.
Profound, thoughtful, and challenging.

For anyone who is interested in symbolism, cultural criticism, or personal growth, this book is a challenging must-read. So many new ideas come to me in each chapter, I often find myself re-reading the chapter I just finished before moving on the the next so that I may savor these thoughts and let give them ample opportunity to work their way into my conscious daily life. Luke discusses various topics such as the importance of suffering in our lives, the symbolism of the marriage vow, and the dangers faced in our culture due to the fact that we have subverted the symbolism of money as a means of exchange, and turned money itself into an end. A wonderful introduction to the writing and thought of the late Helen Luke

I have been using this book as a major source of information/ideas for my undergraduate senior thesis which focuses on weight bias in the University setting. It can be read from beginning to end or on a chapter-to-chapter basis. It contains great summaries and information about the most pertinent studies in the field, related studies and recommendations for new directions. About half of the book deals with the social consequences and taking the perspective of the obese person while the other half deals primarily with research regarding the development and propensity of weight bias. I highly recommend this source for social researchers, interested students and curious readers alike!

This is a collection of essays and research reports about bias against the overweight. I think the primary intended readership is professionals involved in helping people with weight problems, although it is clearly written and deserves a wider audience.
Victims of obesity suffer in many ways. As adults they often have an increased liability to physical illness. Their major cause of suffering, especially at younger ages, is the effect of the condition on physical appearance, and the discrimination they endure on account of this. The commonest obesity-related related cause of death amongst teenagers is suicide. Suffering is often increased by efforts to force them to become thin, and complicated by the fact that most of them would like to be thinner.
To a large extent, what the book does is to document the severity and extent and sources of this discrimination. This may sound unnecessary but the discrimination is often so subtle and pervasive that that "consciousness-raising" is necessary.
While I hope not to sound as if saying anything that legitimizes bias, there are certain aspects to overweight that complicate crusading against bias and that none of the authors fully grapple with. Being short or dark-skinned or paraplegic are always completely outside the victim's control, whereas the possibility always exists, however faint, of losing weight. This possibility is used by the anti-fat bigot to justify making life more difficult for overweight people. (See, for example, California's SB 78)..

Anthony DeMello is superb in his manor of helping the reader find the lost, confused and at times sad individual and transporting him or her to a place of peace and tranquility. Wellsprings offers many short medition exercises. I really enjoy the contempletive peacefulness that is awakened with each essay that is SLOWLY read and concentrated upon. I take with me everywhere I go. Even though I have only owned it for a short time, it has the appearence of being decades old. I really have made it looked LOVED. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have and still do

Anthony DeMello actually was able to bring eastern mysticism and methods of meditation, into the Vatican and teach it to the jesuits! If you know anything about catholic hirarchy, that is quiet a feet. But once you read this, one of my favorots, or other books by Fr. DeMello you'll see that what he says and teaches is so pure, innocent, true, relevant, and REAL, that you see why he recieved such a wide audiance. I loved working the exercises in his book. Not from a Catholic point of view, but from a Meditatiors position. I read his books often when I need to refocus. Enjoy :-)

After ending the year of 2004 re-reading deMello stories from the Song of the Bird I picked up WELLSPRINGS to compare them! My eyes were first caught by "The Fountain, "The Education and "The Current. "The Education focused upon Peter's Betrayal when he saw that 'Look' from Jesus! "I shrink, at first from his loving gaze, for it is too forgiving... I must sustain that look if I am to learn to look at other people the way he looks at me."
Then I moved back into the deMello section on his Topic of LIFE. First I centered upon "The Awakening, "The Deliverance, and "The Symphony" all really interested me for their under-lining! Since Tony deMello often did in his short life, he meditated upon his own Death! In "Deliverance" an underlined phrase: "And so it must be: Life must go on." On closing of this longer meditation, I added the quotation from my old friend, Bob Farrall: "Until my Brother died - I did not face my mortality!"
Many stars & pluses for Contemplation & Meditation in-telling stories. Retired Chaplain Fred W Hood

This book is one of the best in my library. Brown doesn't dance around it--he goes straight to the Big Questions: Why don't we see God moving in and through us? Why don't we see what they saw in the early church? Why, with rare exception, don't our prayers get answered? Worst of all, why do so many of us ACT like there's no problem? This book lit a fire under me. I'm praying more than ever before, and rediscovering what it means to really be in fellowship with Jesus... GET THIS BOOK!

Even though this book was written several years ago, I think it is more relevant today than ever. It will get your attention quickly, because it addresses the frustrations so many are experiencing today in the "church" that has turned worldly, superficial, and powerless. We have tried so hard to be accepted by the world, something we are warned against very clearly, we have walked away from the basics of the Gospel. People are urged to "say a simple prayer" and everything will be taken care of, and they don't have a clue about the sin in their lives or its remedy! Dr. Brown addresses this openly and effectively. He comes from a pentecostal perspective, but non pentecostals will be able to relate and derive great benefit from his discourse. Don't miss this book. You will see why the "church" has drifted so far from its roots and why most of us don't want to attend any more, even if we still go out of habit or sense of duty.

The author, having been a victim of sexual abuse by a priest, uses the time during the critical stages of his mental and psychological rehabilitation to tell a story. It is a story in which he creates a world depicting the darkness of his real life experiences, cradled in the mist of a fantastic, creative imagination. It is a world in which he can function. He expresses his anger, loss of self-esteen and humiliation, then recreates himself as he expresses a myriad of feelings.
WHEN IMAGES PALE takes the reader on a journey of emotions. It starts slowly, but the action picks up leaving us to enjoy the interactions of several complex relationships and the main character's achievement of peace.

This was my 'all-time' best book I've read and had a huge influence on personal ways of thinking as well as a Pastor in ministry. What a great way to look at life from a Bible based perspective.

This is basically a book of images with commentary. You'll find out some interesting facts, such as the background for "The Spiderbite Song", what happens behind the scenes of an up-and-coming band, and tons of backstage pictures. The dialogue between Wayne and Michelle is pretty cool, too.
The signature page in the front obviously adds authenticity and value. I, too, recommend snatching this up before they disappear. I bought the book and have stashed it away in my closet so that it may remain in pristine condition. 5 huge stars!
