Excellent buy for the price! These four books offer not only a glimpse; but a beginning into the study of In Christ's Image Training. Those of you who enjoy Francis Frangipane's work will not be disappointed, his compilation of the curriculum and teachings truly are a blessing.

Very deep and rich- read it slow!

I read one of Frangipane's book years ago and felt I should dig it out and read it again. It touched me where I was at so much I had to get more of his writing. My wife and I are reading the books slowly, for the concepts are, to me, like spiritual fudge- so rich and deep that you need to give yourself time to meditate on them. This is true knowing Him Christianity- not the me-first stuff that is pushed so much now as spiritual maturity. Taken seriously I believe the concepts can be used to make a true difference in one's life.

The best purchase if you really want to grow in Christ

Excellent practical introduction to DSP

Review Date: 2007-01-01
Having used this book to develop actual applications in the real world, I can heartily recommend it with some authority. Most books that cover this subject either skip over the math entirely, leaving you with a vague concept but no useable skills, or dive head-deep into pages of math, giving the impression that the subject is hopelessly complex. Even when the math is adequately covered, there are often "understood" but unexplained conventions in the notation that can lead you very astray. With the MathCad examples you can work with actual useable systems (in simulated form) as you study, making it possible to crack this hard-shelled nut more easily. And the use of MathCad keeps the author honest - everything has to be explicitly defined using well-known MathCad conventions to work. So if you see it in the book, you can do it in the real world. It is also easy to extend or customize the examples, making it possible to develop actual systems with the examples as a starting point. It is not, however, possible to save this work with the supplied "reader" edition of MathCad.

Caveats? It helps to have a working knowledge of MathCad or a similar tool, but this is not absolutely necessary. A tutorial is supplied. If you are serious about using DSP you should have MathCad, MatLab or a similar tool available. To do all the transformations and algebra by hand would take forever and you would miss some of the most useful tools. You definitely need a PC to get the most from this book.

Overall, highly recommended.

What more can I say? After reading the first 2 volumes of this series, I just had to pick up the rest. Although it took me over a year to get this volume (I tried to get it through another source with no luck), Invincible is a great read.

Ever since i first picked up Invincible Vol. 1, i've been hooked on Robert Kirkman's new series. It has gone on to become my favorite comic of late. The characters are great and Robert's first story arc comes to a head in this latest volume. And it's a doozy. i won't spoil anything but let's just say Kirkman finshes it off with his usual touch of greatness. Pick this book up. In fact pick all of his Invincible books up if you haven't! Now i'm going to go order Tech Jacket and try to pass the time until Invincible Vol. 4 comes out:)

I think what I find most enjoyable about Robert Kirkman's work on Invincible is that he doesn't really serve up anything we haven't seen before-in some way or the other, it's all familiar fare-but he manages to take the all-too familiar and make it vibrant all over again. His characters feel like real people, with real emotions and real responses to the events that go on around them, taking "classic" events to heights we've never seen them taken before. In a nutshell, reading a Robert Kirkman super-hero book is like re-reading the stories of our youth with the exception that this time the stories actually HAVE the "punch" we only remember those old stories having.

I honestly don't know how or why Invincible is so good, but it is. I care about the characters, the plot twists are everywhere, yet it manages to feel incredibly real without ever letting you forget it's a comic book. That a contradiction, I know, but I don't care. Invincible is a rare gem indeed. Definitely buy this book, but ideally start from the beginning of the story. All hail the Viltrumite Empire!

Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley are one of the reasons why I spend ridiculous amounts of money every month. I do this not only to buy Invincible, but also to buy as many other trade paperbacks and comics as possible just to see if there's someone out there who can top these two guys! So far I haven't found anyone yet, and probably never will. This collection, "Three's Company", contains issues 31 - 35 of the series and focuses on relationships. Atom Eve's relationship with Mark is brought under tremendous strain as he turns up with his girlfriend Amber to visit Eve in Africa. Mark soon learns of Eve's feelings for him and has to deal with his own emerging feelings for her...without hurting Amber. A tricky situation, especially for a college Freshman who has to juggle being a superhero on the side (or is it the other way around?) Plenty of romance and emotional encounters can be found in these five issues, but there's also a lot of action for those adrenalin junkies who've become hooked on Kirkman's weird villains and ever weirder super-battles. The best one in this book features Mark's fight with Angstrom Levy, his self-styled nemesis, the result of which is shocking and totally unforseen. Mark also learns that a superhero cannot always rest on his laurels, but must continually train in order to improve his powers. This concept made me like the book even more, because it focuses on the fact that being a superhero is a lot of hard work and not always a bed of roses, even for a guy who is Invincible. The art here is incredible, the writing even more so. Buy this book. You won't regret it.

Excellent followup!!

Like every other book in this series, Invincible Vol 7 really takes you to new places with the young superhero. I love the dynamic & reveal with Eve and the little montage of alternate dimensions! I don't even have to suggest buying this book because if you've made it this far in the series, you're already hooked!

I suppose Jon Riley's Irish File could be classified as a travel book. However, that description falls short of the true value of this book. This is a travel book with spirit and soul. Riley doesn't just look "at" Ireland, but looks "into" the spirit of Ireland. The photographs and the words, both Riley's and O'Faolain's, give the viewer a sense of, not only seeing images of Ireland, but feeling, hearing and almost smelling the countryside. This is a beautiful book- beautifully photographed, written, and designed- worth owning for those reasons alone, even if you don't have a specific interest in the Emerald Isle.

Absolutely Beautiful!

The Irish File is the strikingly beautiful photographic works of Jon Michael Riley. Riley lives in North Carolina has done award winning works for numerous magazines and other publications. On his journey to the Emerald Isle, Riley incorporate in his photos a conjoining of dramatic elements.

The photographs are so absolutely beautiful it gives the viewer a sense of a Victorian era painting. The artist gives you the feeling of haunting sounds of music and gentle breezes. The sounds so lovely and celestial like an ethereal song-as he describes his visit in Co. Kerry at the gate entrance of St. Senan's Holy Well. The place inspires the spirit of the breezes tumbling about the metal pipes of the gate [on the front cover]. It's looking at the land with a sense of grace and prefection. Not seeing it as a picture postcard snapshot. Like a scene out of a cinema graphic still with soft overtones. He gives his images a vintage look yet bringing out the realness of their simplicity.

Nuala O'Faolain's author of 'Are You Somebody: The Accidental Memoir of a Dublin Woman', poetic words in the introduction expresses the photogrpher's broader ego to the spirit of the place. This would make a beautiful coffee table book for lovers of breathtaking photography and those who want to reminisce their travels to Ireland.

Stunning photography!

I own a dozen or more of these local history photo volumes in this Images of America series by Acadia. This is one of my favorites. Individual portraits and archit. are both covered. Its an amazing education in how so many of the most prominent buildings and institutions of New Orleans were build and sustained by members of the small Jewish community.

Judah Benjamin "the brain of the Confederacy" and the first Jewish US Senator; Judah Tuoro; owner of the Tulane president's mansion on St. Charles; Latter (home is now St Chas. public library), etc. Clearly -- the Jewish community here has long been one of the most gifted and active in the country. Yet another example of just how unique New Orleans is.

A good companion to this volume would be teh dry but VERY informative book by Bertram Korn, The Early Jews of New Orleans (1967).

This is a great book that is easy to read. If you love history, especially history of the jews of New Orleans or the South, this book is a " must have." Not only did I enjoy reading it, but so did my 13 year old son. There are great pictures in the book, too. The book would make a perfect gift for Chanukah, wedding, anniversaries, birthdays, or Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. Hope to see more books by this author very soon!!!

"Jewish Roots" has been through three editions and multiple printings since it was first published in 1986. This was one of two books that were the first serious theological books of Messianic Jewish Biblical Theology. David Stern published the other. Understanding the Bible from a Jewish context is the pervasive orientation of the book. Instead of filtering the Bible through a wrong interpretation of Galatians, and the New Testament, we first establish the contextual meaning of the Hebrew text. This provides the key to the right interpetation of the New Testament. The New Testament can not contradict the revelation already given. Were it to do so, Jews would be duty bound to reject it. Yet many Christians do not realize that their interpretations do contradict the revelation of the Hebrew Bible. Since the time of pubslishing "Roots" biblical scholarship has progressed and there is much more confirmation of the theology of this book. You will see parallel theologies which greatly agree in such authors as R. Kendall Soulen, Mark Kinser, Mark Nanos, Peter Tomson and Markus Buchmuel.

This excellent book should be required reading in all Theological Seminaries, Bible Colleges/Schools and is a book which should also be read by all Ministers of the Gospel.

The author, himself a senior Pastor, has personally attended five Bible Colleges, obtained four degrees and engaged in three decades of study, providing an enormous wealth of understanding of this crucial subject. This book presents the results of an absorbing research into the heritage given to us by the Jewish people which is so vital for our own Christian faith and which underlies our own Salvation. ("..Salvation is of the Jews"; John 4;22.)

This book is quite detailed and is not to be taken lightly. The seriousness, gravity and implications of this work are likewise so important that they cannot be ignored.

Due to hostility and criticism I have recently been required to restrict my reviews to virtually the "bare bones" in relation to expressions supportive of Israel & the Jews or in criticism of Islam in relation to the Middle East conflict. Such have prevented me from portraying all that I wish to say & what I have felt needed to be said. I therefore will not go into detail about the message delivered here, as I do not wish to cast the precious pearls of this commendable work under the feet of those hostile to this subject.

As a reader, if you are interested in the Truth then you will readily access these essential facts fundamental to our faith. If not, then perhaps you will already have chosen your own path. I can only exhort both Jew and Gentile alike to examine this presentation of our history in relation to Holy Scripture.

In addition to this splendid work I would respectfully recommend Arnold Fruchtenbaum's book entitled "Jesus Was (is) A Jew" (bracketed emphasis is mine).

First, let me say that I am not from Chicago. So why read this book you might ask? Because I heard of this book from the author whom I met at BookExpo America...the national trade show for the book publishing industry. So, I decided that I would order the book simply so I could tell her that I had read it.

Now I am glad I did. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the book.

To some, Joliet may merely be a micocosm of Chicago, but I found it to be much more than that. It is also a story of people, of individuals and of micro-communities, that can probably be paralleled to other communities in other urban areas. What make Joliet unique is the depth of the research that the author put into the telling of its individual stories of struggle, of sorrow, and of accomplishment. The uniqueness of Joliet may be in its strong church ties and in its architecture of structures and of its peoples, but the stories of the history and of the people of this area are quite interesting...and make for a very interesting read.

I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who understands that by knowing more about the history and lives of others gives greater insight into ourselves. This book will both make you think and entertain you as well...that, in and of itself, is quite unique. I enjoyed it and think that you will too.

"Joliet" teaches us about a fascinating town in Middle America where immigrants settled and made a home for themselves while carrying the torch of liberty. Marianne Wolf has researched the past to provide a timely lesson for the present and for future generations. The images of the people in this pictorial history cry out for readers to understand the plight of the immigrants who come to America to build better futures for themselves and their families. This book is about freedom and opportunity, and individuals whose love and respect for their heritage - and for America -blended together to build a stronger Nation for all of us. ( Jerry Marcus is widely known for his ability to create compelling fiction about thought-provoking issues such as anti-Semitism, political intrigue, corruption, and religious hypocrisy. He is the author of three books: "The Last Pope," "The Salvation Peddler," and "Abraham, Isaac, Jacob & Zev.")

A personal tour of a town's history...

Reading this book is like taking a personal tour of Joliet -- and not just to see the sites and the buildings. I was touched by the author's up front and personal style and how she introduced me to the people who built the community. Usually a history book shows photo after photo of schools, stores, public events.... But in "Joliet," Wolf seems to step into the past - to provide a more poignant look at the individuals in the photos. She provides readers with personal details about the lives of the people who built the buildings, the men and women who started neighborhood businesses and schools, and who became community leaders. "Joliet" is a story of how immigrants - men and women - came to this country, raised their families and realized the American dream, while still preserving their ethnic heritages.

The history of Joliet mirrors the growth of many other communities around our country that were built with hard work, dedication, and gratitude for the freedoms that are so easy to take for granted. It is a history lesson written from the heart of someone who truly understands how important diversity and community strength is to the growth of America. "Joliet" is also a message from the author, who grew up in Joliet, to remember our past and to use it as a foundation for the future.
