Excellent practical introduction to DSPReview Date: 2007-01-01
Caveats? It helps to have a working knowledge of MathCad or a similar tool, but this is not absolutely necessary. A tutorial is supplied. If you are serious about using DSP you should have MathCad, MatLab or a similar tool available. To do all the transformations and algebra by hand would take forever and you would miss some of the most useful tools. You definitely need a PC to get the most from this book.
Overall, highly recommended.

Absolutely Beautiful!Review Date: 2003-02-12
The photographs are so absolutely beautiful it gives the viewer a sense of a Victorian era painting. The artist gives you the feeling of haunting sounds of music and gentle breezes. The sounds so lovely and celestial like an ethereal song-as he describes his visit in Co. Kerry at the gate entrance of St. Senan's Holy Well. The place inspires the spirit of the breezes tumbling about the metal pipes of the gate [on the front cover]. It's looking at the land with a sense of grace and prefection. Not seeing it as a picture postcard snapshot. Like a scene out of a cinema graphic still with soft overtones. He gives his images a vintage look yet bringing out the realness of their simplicity.
Nuala O'Faolain's author of 'Are You Somebody: The Accidental Memoir of a Dublin Woman', poetic words in the introduction expresses the photogrpher's broader ego to the spirit of the place. This would make a beautiful coffee table book for lovers of breathtaking photography and those who want to reminisce their travels to Ireland.

Amazing monument to New OrleansReview Date: 2006-08-31
Judah Benjamin "the brain of the Confederacy" and the first Jewish US Senator; Judah Tuoro; owner of the Tulane president's mansion on St. Charles; Latter (home is now St Chas. public library), etc. Clearly -- the Jewish community here has long been one of the most gifted and active in the country. Yet another example of just how unique New Orleans is.
A good companion to this volume would be teh dry but VERY informative book by Bertram Korn, The Early Jews of New Orleans (1967).

God Has Not Finished With Israel.Review Date: 2003-08-05
The author, himself a senior Pastor, has personally attended five Bible Colleges, obtained four degrees and engaged in three decades of study, providing an enormous wealth of understanding of this crucial subject. This book presents the results of an absorbing research into the heritage given to us by the Jewish people which is so vital for our own Christian faith and which underlies our own Salvation. ("..Salvation is of the Jews"; John 4;22.)
This book is quite detailed and is not to be taken lightly. The seriousness, gravity and implications of this work are likewise so important that they cannot be ignored.
Due to hostility and criticism I have recently been required to restrict my reviews to virtually the "bare bones" in relation to expressions supportive of Israel & the Jews or in criticism of Islam in relation to the Middle East conflict. Such have prevented me from portraying all that I wish to say & what I have felt needed to be said. I therefore will not go into detail about the message delivered here, as I do not wish to cast the precious pearls of this commendable work under the feet of those hostile to this subject.
As a reader, if you are interested in the Truth then you will readily access these essential facts fundamental to our faith. If not, then perhaps you will already have chosen your own path. I can only exhort both Jew and Gentile alike to examine this presentation of our history in relation to Holy Scripture.
In addition to this splendid work I would respectfully recommend Arnold Fruchtenbaum's book entitled "Jesus Was (is) A Jew" (bracketed emphasis is mine).

I really liked this book!Review Date: 2006-07-24
Now I am glad I did. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed the book.
To some, Joliet may merely be a micocosm of Chicago, but I found it to be much more than that. It is also a story of people, of individuals and of micro-communities, that can probably be paralleled to other communities in other urban areas. What make Joliet unique is the depth of the research that the author put into the telling of its individual stories of struggle, of sorrow, and of accomplishment. The uniqueness of Joliet may be in its strong church ties and in its architecture of structures and of its peoples, but the stories of the history and of the people of this area are quite interesting...and make for a very interesting read.
I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who understands that by knowing more about the history and lives of others gives greater insight into ourselves. This book will both make you think and entertain you as well...that, in and of itself, is quite unique. I enjoyed it and think that you will too.
A book for all generations and an important work about the history of AmericaReview Date: 2006-06-22
A personal tour of a town's history...Review Date: 2006-06-21
The history of Joliet mirrors the growth of many other communities around our country that were built with hard work, dedication, and gratitude for the freedoms that are so easy to take for granted. It is a history lesson written from the heart of someone who truly understands how important diversity and community strength is to the growth of America. "Joliet" is also a message from the author, who grew up in Joliet, to remember our past and to use it as a foundation for the future.
