I found this book to be informative, enlighteniing, and at the same time, easy to read and follow. Even though many freshman don't like to read, they should find this book easy flowing and non-threatening. Despite the book addressing the needs of the Black college freshman, it could and should pertain to all first generation college students. I will incorporate a lot of the materials in my freshman orientation classes.

This is a must

This book is a must have for African American students that plan on attending college. This book is easy reading. The book is good for those students that don't enjoy reading that much because it flows. This book also makes references to others books that young African American students will enjoy reading.

I would recommend Dr. Joy's book for all couples, at any time in their lives. As a former student of Donald Joy at Asbury Seminary, I can affirm that he speaks from his heart, and that what he says is Biblically sound. As a pastor, whenever I agree to perform a wedding, Dr. Joy's "Bonding," along with "Rebonding," and "Lovers: Whatever Happened to Eden." is required reading for the couple. Get it, read it, recommend it to others.

Wish I'd read this earlier in life.

This book is wonderful in explaining bonding patterns of the human being. I'm glad that I have read this book before I started a family, but I wish I had read this in my teens. It would have saved me a lot of heartache. This is a must read for anyone who wants their approach to relationship to match that of Jesus'.

Many books have been written on health and exercise and slowing the effects of aging. The problem is, they are all written by doctors or forty-something fitness gurus. This is written by a "real" person, a pharmacist in her seventies.

Her biggest recommendation is to take control of your own health and well-being. No matter how wonderful your doctor or pharmacist is, they won't do it for you. Educate yourself about, for instance, supplements and alternative medicine. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Is drug B really necessary, or is it simply counteracting side effects from drug A? Drink lots of water, and, if applicable, change your status from smoker to ex-smoker.

A big reason for America's health problems is the American diet. It's full of all sorts of artificial, pre-processed, fat and chemical-filled stuff that bears little resemblance to real food. Reduce the amount of such things that you put in your mouth. Eliminating it entirely would be even better.

Part of the secret is attitude, which starts with the word "retirement." If you're physically and mentally able to keep working, don't retire just because you have reached "retirement age." If you're retiring to do something you have always wanted to do, go for it. On the other hand, if you're retiring to move into some retirement community and wait for the Grim Reaper, you need more help than this book can provide.

Morris also recommends living in an environment that includes young people; they can be a pain in the neck, but their energy can be contagious. Avoid people and organizations that say "the end is near." Develop a positive sense of humor and outlook on life. Stand apart from the masses. Don't abandon long-term plans just because you think you have X years left.

To those who aren't ready to leave the workforce, or leave this Earth, just because their body has reached a certain chronological age, this book is for you. It's very easy to read, it's from a regular person intended for regular people, and anyone can learn a lot from it. This is very highly recommended.

Barbara Morris' Boomers Really Can Put Old On Hold is a practical, energetic, and health oriented book dedicated to the proposition that anyone can extend their life and improving the quality of their "golden years". Written especially for Baby Boomers, this excellent catalogue of tips, tricks and techniques covers not only keeping oneself in good health but also retirement plans and solid information resources. Written by a fresh and vibrant 72-year-old woman (check the author's photograph and you'll be amazed someone that venerable can look and feel so good!), Boomers Really Can Put Old On Hold is highly recommended reading for all ages!

...As a pharmacist with a degree from Rutgers U. College of Pharmacy, Morris is able to give readers reliable, pertinent information about a wide range of medical and health topics and good habits of interest to persons getting into their fifties and older. In addition to this, she also discusses fundamental matters of the psychological and mental well-being of older persons. As the title denotes, the intended readers for her book are the baby-boom generation starting to face health and psychological matters of aging. But obviously her book is of interest to any readers older or younger interested in maintaining a vital life style for as long as possible.
In general, Morris gives advice on how individuals can stay integrated into the mainstream of life even as they grow older. This allows them to enjoy a full, diverse life rather than become segregated from the younger generations by their own feelings of separation or by inappropriate images or expectations of society. A couple of the points this author makes are "Traditional retirement is a fast track to decline, decrepitude and an early demise"; and "Live in an environment that includes young people." Morris does not outline any specific program for enjoying life during one's later years as so many books in the self-help genre do. Instead, she offers readers upbeat counsel and principles which go a long way toward helping readers live the kind of life that is most rewarding and enriching for them despite long into their later years.

I am half Italian born in Brockton, Ma. but live on the west coast now. I guess I can only hope that the North End will still remain quaint and special in spite of our everchanging world.

This book of captivating images and relevant descriptions was like going back in history. I have fond memories of Boynton Beach from the early 1980's and now I have new appreciation for the community and its history. I especially enjoyed the chapter on farming and the images from the early 1900's.

This beautiful book's pictures - from funny to quirky to insightful - really work well to humanize history and give legends like "The Barefoot Mailman" to the orgins of the yearly holiday parade faces, names and dates.

Some of the pictures even have handwritten notations on them, again serving to connect the reader to the history. The captions that accompany each picture helps to solidify the significance of the photograph, and is kept brief enough to keep the reader skimming page after page.

a must reading for south Florida residents!

Excellent. LIstened several times, did the workbook. Explains clearly what underlies the superficial aspects of your brand (logo, image, etc.). Takes you through the step-by-step process of what makes you special and unique. Essential for any person or business selling services or products that are intangible or complex. Do you have a hard time explaining what it is that you actually do ... in a few seconds? This will enable to do that with clarity and elegance. Highly recommended.

Look, I've listened to hundreds of audio tapes and CDs for many years. I have the entire collections from Trump to Brian Tracey to Earl Nightingale.

This is my favorite audio CD. I have alreadcy listened to the entire program 3 times and it was well worth it. I haven't even touched the multimedia CD yet. It's very educational and done so well. I want a sequel!

An excellent branding tutorial. I thought the workbook would be silly filler but it was actually very helpful and was more like taking a course instead of passively listening to the audio. The workbook really does help build a brand and I learned from the audio the importance of building a brand. As a result I am now rethinking my entire product launch. I want to do it right and start with a strong brand that I can use to maximum effect. If you want advice on something, ask someone that has achieved what you want to achieve, who doesnt want to achieve what the Donald has? Dont forget to pick up other books for even more indepth knowlege but if this is the only one you get, you will be doing great.

This book was awesome! I know all my friend's first kiss, birthdays, but not their breast stories. This book encourages reader's to think about and discuss with their friends how their breasts - from development on - have affected them - other's reactions to them. It was funny, insightful, what you come away with is that the "perfect breasts" we've been fantasizing about since childhood - nobody has them. Tell your breast stories!!

I got this book to develop a conscious awareness of our culture's unconscious attitudes about breasts, and the effect this has on women.

Maybe I have an unusual viewpoint: a man from a sexually repressed family with lots of double standards. I sometimes objectified women, or tried to view them as asexual. Either way it creates a warped relationship. This book is helping me to develop a new attitude toward breasts and the women who bear them.

I have been struggling with depression and anger since I was 18 (I'm now 27). After realizing how much God loved me and accepted me and realizing that I was forgiven I totally overcame my problems. I no longer need medication for my problems. I have read numerous books on helping this problem, but this one did it. God miraculously healed me in one night after coming to these realizations. I pray that he will continue to improve my self-image. It is my prayer that many people will know my testimony and also read Josh's book. Praise the Lord!

Read this book! If you want to understand how God sees you, and how you can love yourself, get this book. It will change your thinking, your feelings about yourself, and your behavior. It's the best work on self-esteem I've ever read.

Josh delves into the Scriptures and shows us that God wants us to love ourselves. More importantly, he shows us HOW... the three key components of high self-esteem, and how to acquire them, biblically.

A great book for all of God's people! Lots of Scriptures, real-life illustrations, and easy to read format. Thank you Josh!

Trying to live a life centered on love of Christ, and open to his gifts, is not an easy challenge in today's busy world. This new edition of Fr. Basil Pennington's CALL TO THE CENTER is just what I have been looking for as the next book selection for our centering prayer support group. The chapters are short--excellent for an evening's discussion. It is written in a conversational style, but filled with insights for deepening prayer, and helps for avoiding some of the common difficulties. This is a book that can be read and re-read. Fr. Basil's enthusiasm and genuine love for centering prayer will certainly be an inspiration to those new to this form of prayer, and an encouragement for those who have been following the Gospel's invitation to deeper prayer--the book's subtitle--in the years since, as Fr. Basil reminds us, the "Second Vatican Council has made it most clear that all are called to intimate holiness, to the joy of contemplative union with the Lord."

Call To The Center: The Gospel's Invitation To Deeper Prayer is a collection of meditations by M. Basil Pennington (a Cistercian monk of St. Joseph's Abby in Spencer, Massachusetts) on the Gospel of Matthew. This reflections fairly reverberate with an abiding faith and the power of opening one's heart to God. Light, duty, faith, and reverence form core principles in this enlightening work which is a very highly recommended addition to Christian Studies reading lists and library collections.

The book's title says it all: it is something like a hearing aid, helping us listen to the Gospels with the ears of our hearts. Pennington is so deeply experienced and so learned in this subject that he speaks with supreme authority. He is a teacher to be trusted.
This book will be both a guide for beginners and support for those far along the way of prayer. It will be much loved.
