General St. John Richardson Liddell was a biased, cantankerous, violent man devoted to the Confederacy yet doubtful of its ultimate success. This is history with the varnish off; Liddell wrote this record immediately after the war and never expected it to be published in his lifetime. It's one of the essential texts for understanding the Confederate Army of Tennessee and provides great insight into the personalities of its commander. More importantly, it reveals in great detail the mind of one former Confederate.

We found this book to provide a very useful and rich summary of this important emerging issue. It covered the waterfront with discussion of diverse issues and represented all the important perspectives. If you want an efficient way to get introduced to this complex set of issues, this book is a must read!

Good reading. Nice introduction to Chinese history. Some of the material can also be found in his more recent book The New Emperors : China in the Era of Mao and Deng. I like the collection of pictures and illustrations.

This is a fun little book even if you know only a shred about baseball. It's a wonderful story about the thoughts in people's minds and of their experiences as they are part of a momentous event...be it a part from a distance or from practical participation. There are tornado warnings (literally), bad luck at the concession stand, and a truly hilarious event involving an oblivious telephone operator. From an entertainment aspect, it may include a limited amount of volume for a novice fan, but as a baseball junkie and from an historical AND entertainment perspective...a copy of this book was one of my father's most precious childhood gifts.

This book is a perfect complement to Anne Branscomb's, and provides a well-told tale, researched in partnership with a private investigator, of just what can be gotten on you through the electronic web within which we all live our lives. This book is the tactical gutter in your face version, Branscomb's book is the academic dissection.

The book and cd are a excellent study guide for the preperation for taking the exam.

Gregory Schaaf's latest book has turned out to be one of the most valuable and most used in my collection of books on this subject. Not only does he provide a concise and well structured biography on every important potter of the Rio Grande Pueblos, he also provides family trees, some great color plates and a number of black and white photographs of both the artists and their work. Bur Mr. Schaaf goes further than that, and supplies his reader with all-important pricing info, including the prices some of the potters fetched for their work at recent auctions. I use this book for researching; confirming or refuting the extraneous piece of information, and for simple reading pleasure. Sometimes I get the book down just to look (again!) at the pictures. A great job, and a wonderful companion to his earlier book of biographies on the Hopi potters. Armed with these two volumes, any collector of pueblo pottery will find himself making fewer mistakes on who to pursue, what to buy and how much to pay for it. I highly recommend this book.
