The Greatest Tribute to the Greatest AirplaneReview Date: 2003-11-25
Ultra Sonic Super SpyReview Date: 2004-06-09
In every book there are at least on thing that does not click with the reader, and in this book this rule holds true. The only problem I experienced while reading this book was the odd placement of pictures. Whenever the Author got into a serious thought or story, the next page would have a picture or series of pictures that would make you lose your trail of thought and provoke you to look at the photos. This severely annoyed me most of the way through the book. I don't quit think the author was thinking to deeply into the placement of the photos or he's a total genius and didn't want you to get completely trapped into his story, giving you time to think about what just happened or recollect on what exactly he was saying.
Of course there are good or great things about a book or the reader would stop reading it, unless he was forced to read it like I was in grade school and throughout High School. The pictures were phenomenal, even though their placement was off. The sheer quality and beauty of them was overwhelming. Also, the author used so much detail in his writing, it was almost as if you were in the cockpit with him and Walt. He used so manning adjectives, that it was almost as if he wanted your full attention on a specific object or experience, just so that you didn't miss a thing.
great book if you can ever find a copyReview Date: 2004-06-14
and yes indeed, i have yet to read it
at nearly 1/2 a grand to purchase, i believe i shall never read it
i find it wonderful that the author wants to release another limited printing of 3500 copies
once again, i am sure to be left out of the fold
what is the motivation here?
am i not to ever get a crack at reading this fine work??
am i expected to ever get a truthful answer to my questions??
being a realist and a pilot, i must say its a lousey day for v.f.r
warmest regards to all those profiting at my expense

If you know people who fly, this book resonatesReview Date: 2001-04-25
I can just sit with this book for half an hour any time. It is a wonderful combination of humour - "Airplane travel is nature's way of making you look like your passport photo." (Al Gore) - might be my favourite. But there is also the deeply profound and quite moving.
It'll be a well thumbed and much quoted book for years to come.
Required Reading for Pilots....Review Date: 2004-04-12
This is a must read for pilots or ANYONE interested in flying or connected with the aviation industry. It is NOT a " sparse, flowery book of aviation poetry," - it is a very thorough book of aviation history in the form of various quotes. I would estimate that there are approximately 1000 quotes contained in this easy to read format.
This book makes a WONDERFUL gift for pilots and those who have always been fascinated with flying. However, unlike most books that contain a few poetic lines on each page - this book centers more around historic and literary quotes. Although it is more than a "coffee table" book, it is certainly a book that would easily interest most guests.
"Slipping the Surly Bonds" is divided into 14 areas and has an index for easy referencing. Areas of interests include: First Flights, Magic and Wonder of Flight, Air Power, Combat, Predictions, Piloting, Safety, Space, and Women Fly and more.
As a female Vice President of two small Aviation Companies, I have often searched for gifts for pilots, etc. who have been difficult to buy for. I have never gone wrong when purchasing this book as a gift.

Great book, great man, I love my dad...Review Date: 2008-01-03
This book was a long time coming and I'm proud that our father's technique is being shared in this book. The hope is that many would be able to learn from this book and instill confidence, self-discipline and self-respect in those that choose to practice it.
Congratulations and Happy New Year!

Great Drill BookReview Date: 2008-09-29
The book starts out with a short chapter on preparing for the drills followed by another short chapter on "needs analysis" (which shows you how to evaluate the need for a speed, agility, and quickness program).
The rest of the book from there is the "meat" of the book: three sections of drills, one for speed, one for agility, and one for quickness. Each of these sections is loaded with great pictures of the drills along with the purpose of the drill and an explanation of how to do it.
The book ends with a 6th Chapter on sport-specific programs. Here the reader is given routines for all the different sports such as volleyball, karate, baseball, etc.
All-in-all I found this to be a very nice resource for drills- drills for really just about any sport. To boot, the size of the book is such that you can toss it in a gym bag and take it with you. Other sports resources I liked include The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution if you suffer from plantar fasciitis. Happy training!

A Book of Randomness That Has a Central ThemeReview Date: 2008-06-10
His angle on San Francisco, New York city in the Summer, and small and often obscure areas of the US is fun, intriguing, and playful to read.
What I hate is how I really cannot explain why it's such a remarkable work of art. I just love how Brautigan writes from his fun, adventurous spirit, wit and the very realms of his spontaneous genious.

The First RemoteReview Date: 2005-04-06
It reminds me of my da and his inventiveness, best my research indicates he was the first person to invent the remote control for television. Part one of his invention, not because this was his first innovation but just because this is how I chose to place this innovation in the review...Part one was a long electrical cord with an on off switch spliced to it so he could lean over the side of the bed and he could click the switch and like magic the TV would come to life or if he felt like clicking it again it would go black crackling and popping while it cooled.
Part two of his innovation I was able to be a part of, whenever he needed to change the channels he would yell my name with great enthusiasm...Boy! Boy! come here quick, I would snap to life and run to his room with great anticipation look at him and say whaaat? He would reply "could you change over to channel 6 ? hold on, hold on, now try 13 hmmm. go back to 8"....Thanks... Well I would leave frustrated and determined not to fall for that one again, but within an hour Boy! Boy! come here hurry! I would run upstairs and say "whaaat"? "could you change the TV over to Channel 6".
Boy:"But Da I'm studying for my drivers license test, I don't want to flunk"
Da: " try 13 again"...
Why this books evokes these memories is a mystery but so are a lot of things.

Tug of WarReview Date: 2008-09-17
Dr. Heuschmann definitely has it out for those who choose to ignore the traditional methods. And with reason. With vivid color illustrations of the horse's anatomy and straightforward commentary, he takes time in this book to carefully point out the crucial points of a riding horse's anatomy and how they are affected by both correct and incorrect training techniques. The photographs clearly demonstrate the differences in movement, tension and balance between horses ridden in a traditional manner and those who are not.
As a dressage trainer who has been educated in Germany, it is my sincere hope that with the publishing of this book and support by its readers, it is an indication that we are ready to abolish training techniques that are harmful to our horses.
