I found this at the library and took a chance...to my delight, my month old son went nuts over it. He laughs and kicks his legs during the entire show. He loves it much better then baby einstien DVD's. I highly recommend this and all the other DVD's in the series!

another great baby book by baby faith!

Baby faith has created a bunch of baby videos with books to go along with each one. This one is the story of Noah and the animals. The story is very simple and fun to read to my children. And the illustrations are great. THis book highlights animals sounds and has a little "squeaker" that my baby loves to grab. Great books for kids!

Love it! Animals, Animals, Animals!

I got this book after I got the God Made Me book and DVD set because my baby loved them so much. This too has a video, but the book is a hard copy of the concepts taught in the video - animals and sounds. Just like their other book, it has great illustrations and the story is wonderful. This whole series is great for my baby. Can't wait for the next one!

I was impressed in my research of these faith based kinds of products to find out that the people who produce this (Family Tree Media) are Christians, unlike the Baby Miracle guys (Hart Sharp) who distribute horror and slasher movies and the Baby Einstein created by Bill and Julie Clark but is now being mucked up by Disney.

This one's great, as is the entire series

My mom bought many of the books and DVDs in this series for my son, and he loves them all, far more than any other series like Baby Einstein, etc. Although simple, the videos calm him down, and he adores the puppets- this one by far is his favorite with the ducks, lions, Noah, etc. I'd also recommend God Made Music and the new Christmas one. We generally don't let him watch much TV, but when we do, it's one of the Babyfaith Videos, and the accompanying books are some of his favorites too (although at 14 months he is now starting to like the VeggieTales books as well). It's nice to expose him to the simple Bible stories they feature, and the background music is hymns (no singing, though, just music) so I'm usually humming along as well.

An amazing true story well written.

Healthsouth has become, in the mind of the public and media, synonymous with Enron and Worldcom. But the true story is much different. Rather than collapsing into bankruptcy, Healthsouth has survived and is flourishing under new management.
Dr. Cast tells the story of Healthsouth through its troubled times in 2003 through the recovery in a well-written readable style. But the most important lesson in this book is how a few investors (myself included) made lots of money by looking beyond the media reports and sharing information online that was not being disseminated through any other media outlet. The real story here is one of individual investors beating out the so-called experts at their own game. While this was a unique situation, some would call once-in-a-lifetime, every individual investor should be prepared to take advantage of a similar situation. This book should be required reading for every investor.

An excellent read!

A great chronicle of the rise-fall-rise of Healthsouth and the Yahoo message board investors who stood together to weather the storm and prosper.

A must read for those interested in massive corporate corruption, narcissism, fear, intimidation and greed.

SEC investigations, FBI raids, suicide, taped conversations, rogue bondholders and cooked books are some of the ingredients of this true story.

Dr. Cast never cease to amaze me with his diversity, resilience, eccentricities, and good humour. I suppose that's a
roundabout way of saying that as an author he is as captivating as he is an outstanding fellow human being.

In "Going South, not only do you get an insider glimpse at the chronology of Healthsouth; You'll discover enlightenment aimed at keeping ahead of the curve in investment. The "How and Why things happen" and most important, the latest trends. Far more than a stinging exposi of corporate corruption ... The detail financial sections are templates to understanding how to become very wealthy.

"Going South" is one of the most compelling business books ever published a must read and add to your personal library.

Her life was a lie...but their passion spoke the truth. A life of deceit...On the surface, Jenny Dell appeared the model lady, but nothing could have been further from the truth. For her, every word and every act as was a deception. Until she met Brant Claremont, the Duke of Strachen, and learned firsthand about loved based on a lie. 'No matter how much any one of us pretends to be someone else, in the end we always are what we are.' 'Ahh.' For whatever reason, Brant relaxed. 'Then you are a fatalist? You believe that we can never change from what we're born? That our destiny remains always the same, with no hope of growth or improvement? 'No, no, no! It's not so complicated as that, Your Grace. I only meant that no matter how many changes you may make for the world to see, you are still at heart, or in your soul. the same creature you were born. That's what I know,' Jenny said with conviction. She did believe it. How could she not, when so much of her life was unabashed deception? If she didn't believe in herself independent of whatever new identity she'd concocted, why, then, she'd have nothing at all.

I really liked this! An unusual hero and heroine make this memorable. The hero in particular had worked through his limitations without seeming weak or a victim, but a good, strong, intellignet (and sexy!) man.Though we've all read a zillion amnesia-plots before, this one seemed fresh and new.

Wonderful historical romance!

This book had everything I love in a good historical romance: a hunky tortured hero with a dark secret, a bad girl heroine whose better than she thinks, lots of angst and sexual tension, and good settings without any historical boo-boos. I haven't read anything else by this writer before, (I only bought this one becauce I thought it sounded interesting), but I'm going to look for the rest of her books now. Highly reccommended!

"Sharing Truth Wins True Love"

Review Date: 2003-09-24
Honesty, so necessary in true love, is the one thing Jenny Dell and Brant Claremont, sixth Duek of Strachen, Marquess of Elwes, have both grown up avoiding. Jenny's family of Irish actors are on the run when she's knocked unconscious and found by Brant on his estate. She can't reveal her true identity, or her most recent alias, and takes refuge in faking amnesia.

Brant's secret shame is that despite his intense efforts, he can't learn to read. He's succeeded in restoring the estate his father left in huge debt but avoids real closeness to society. To him, Jenny is obviously a lady of quality. He desparately wants her, but believes he's unworthy.

Sexual tension runs high. There are attempts on Jenny's life, secrets to be kept, mysteries to be solved and a traditional ending in which sharing truth wins true love. SENSUAL

A book that should be given to all nonprofit directors
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-04-29
Having served on a number of nonprofit boards this book describes very precisely how more management organization and thinking can assist those with "good intentions" who often serve on nonprofit boards and probably should not. It should be a book given to all new directors invited to join the board. Given a more structured look, nonprofits will find that they cannot continue with "it's his/her time to be on the board". The annual affirmation statement of board members should be a must for all directors as it brings a focus to why they are there and what is expected. The ideas and suggestions in the book are applicable to nonprofits of every size. While a good portion of the book is obvious and reasonable, it is unfortunate that the obvious is not always practiced by more well intentioned board members. Bringing a longer term strategic focus can only assist an organization in building a more successful future.

This is a readable and USEFUL book for all non-profits. The principles are solid and are adaptable to organizations at any and all stages of growth and development. The authors encourage the quest for good governance as a journey for the board to take together. Their willingness to share their many significant handouts is appreciated for it not only saves work to re-create them but they are a representation of the authors' learning discovery and wisdom. I highly commend it to all who work with non-profits.

In addition to the great art work, this book provides positive self images and personal development traits to children and parents. The character, Dottie crosses ethnic and cultural barriers that challenge most book illustrators. When I read this to children, they are mesmerized and enthusiastic. My grandchildren sing along now (to the ABC song) and are learning new words in the process.

All of the "illustrations" in this book are done with clay--it's an amazing book to look at as an adult! The time it must have taken to make each page is mind-boggling. Both of my kids (6 and 2) LOVE this book. Each page is about a virtue Dottie is practicing, and they're really cute! And as the previous reviewer wrote, you can sing the whole book to the tune of the the ABC's. We love Dottie!!

This book is great for little hands since it is a board book, and also enjoyable for new readers. The whole book can be sung to the ABC song which makes it fun to read and listen. I especially like the fact that this is an ABC book that speaks to qualities... Instead of naming objects that a child may or may not have, it names positive emotions and attributes that exist within a child. The book even provides an conversation or activity for the child and reader at the end!

This book is incredibly adorable. I love reading it, and my 21-month old son loves hearing it. Well, not so much anymore...he made me read it over and over again, probably a hundred times in 3 weeks, and now he has it memorized and no longer wants to read it. But he can talk about the Statue of Liberty, can pick out the Washington Monument and U.S. Captiol, and can tell you who lives in the White House. All these are important things for him to know, and my friends think it's amazing that he knows them at his age. The pictures are cute. It's a great, quick read at bedtime.

This gorgeous introduction to the USA and all its wonders is beautifully illustrated. Other books in this series have boring, more work-book-stiff-looking art. This one shines. The stars in the sky, the twinkle in children's eyes, the feathers on the bald eagle... all have depth and a softness that renders this book a wonderful gift. We have given it to foreign guests several times! And our toddler loves the bedtime ritual of putting the whole country to sleep :)

Wonderful bedtime book

Review Date: 2007-09-20
I have enjoyed this entire "Good Night Our World Series" with our son for almost 2 years now. Any child 1 1/2 years or older will love these books. I would go as old as 7 years for the reader, depending on your child. I highly recommend this particular book, Good Night America, for anyone who wants to introduce our land to their children. The quality of their books are wonderful; thick sturdy pages with colorful illustrations. The writing is simple and perfect for bedtime; lots of "hello's" and eventual "good nights" to special places around America that the book discusses. We also enjoy the other "Good Night" series of books that highlight San Francisco, Provincetown, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket specifically.

Since our child has a tough time going to sleep and likes to travel, this is a perfect series for him. He goes off into dream land with quiet appreciation about adventures in a particular place he loves or wants to visit.

Also wonderful if your child has a friend who has moved to a particular town that these books cover-it will peak their interest in where their friend is living now and it'll make it an interesting experience to explore instead of a sad one. And, if sadness comes up, it is a good way to discover that your child may have deeper feelings you were unaware of around a friend moving.

The only reason I gave this one particular book in the series one less star, is because of a sentence in the book that states: "America stands for what is right". We always replace that with" "America stands for diversity." Seems an appropriate change because these words appear next to the Statue of Liberty, and we recognize the beauty of this as we are only second generation Americans. All in all, these are great books!

A thoroughly entertaining addition

Beautifully designed by author/publisher Adam Gamble and illustrator/toy designer Suwin Chan, "Good Night America" is charmingly entertaining board book which is highly recommended for preschoolers and depicts some of America's most icon settings with respect to the nation's vast natural and cultural wonders. A multicultural group of children visit various attractions ranging from Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty, the Everglades, the Grand Canyon, and more. The rhythmic language of the simple but engaging text provides young children with the passage of both a single day and the four seasons while representing the beauty of each selected site. The debut title of the new "Good Night" series from Our World of Books, "Good Night America" will make a thoroughly entertaining addition to family, preschool, day care center, and community library board book collections.

I must have read this Little Golden Book book to my daughter over 1000 times. She absolutely loved it as a child. Even though she had memorized the words she insisted on having it read to her every night and she caught me every time I tried to turn two pages at once.

For several years, she had unsuccessfully searched for this book so she could read it to her two sons aged 1 and 3. I was thrilled to see that it was recently re-published and available on Amazon[.com].

The story line involves a baby bear who hides on his father's shoulders when it is time for him to go to bed. The father bear "searches" all over the house for "little bear" who is nowhere to be found. At long last, the father bear looks in a mirror and discovers "little bear" who is perched on his shoulders. A simple story, but one which absolutely fascinated my daughter.

Flap compilation of Gossie books

Review Date: 2007-11-18
First, this book is very large. It's not as small as Dunrea's other books in the Gossie series. And though it is a board book, the lift-up flaps are not indestructible and parents of toddlers and babies alike would be advised to tape these down with reinforcing tape prior to even giving the book to a child. My 18 mo. old daughter doesn't love this book, though she loves many of the other Gossie books. I think that part of the issue is that the book is so large as to be cumbersome for her to handle (and there's a lot going on within each page). Moreover, there are multiple flaps to lift on each page, so for a younger child, this may be a bit confusing. But it provides for more mileage, I suppose, for other kids. Finally, my only last comment is that it was pretty obvious that the publisher lifted illustrations directly from Dunrea's other books rather than having the author draw up a whole new set of images for this flap book. (That's why I say it's almost a "compilation" of the other Gossie books.) But the photoshopping is not noticeable unless you're looking very critically and unless you're familiar with the other books, as I am. All in all, a very nice book which furthers the Gossie brand.

Over the last 20 years (or so) I've sent corrective notes to Leslie Halliwell and the subsequent editor, John Walker. For the premiere film encyclopedia, the Filmgoers Companion still has lots of errors, missing information for supposedly complete filmographies, and many many unlisted film stars, especially from the "transition period" to talkies (Anita Page, etc.). Personally, I think Walker was a very bad choice; he doesn't seem to be "into" the encyclopedic format of this valuable resource.

Happy Birthday, Lulu! is a wonderful book for preschool through early school age children. From beginning to end it contains large, bold words to catch the young readers attention as well as those just beginning to recognize words. Also the positioning of the words at the top of the page makes it easy for the child to find. Another great aspect of this book is its vibrant colors. Uff uses many different bright shades to make her pictures stand out. When I first saw them I thought of a pack of crayons. Some light, some bright, but all of them bursting off the page. I thought it was clever how she used a double-page spread. Combined with her use of large pictures and sentimental meaning, I find it hard to look away or loose attention. This is a wonderful book that any preschooler would love to look at, read, or just point out the large array of colors and familiarity.

My child is completely captivated by the vibrant colours. Each page has lovely illustrations with a simple dialogue or narrative. The story is easy to follow. The characters are diverse and appealing. My little daughter is excited each time she sees the book, and is not content until she has been read it and shown the pictures. She has longer periods of concentration reading Lulu than she has with any of her other toys or books.
