Unwrap and unfold the entire book to receive a pop-up house and a small monkey, complete with two 20-page booklets stored in the pockets. Kids ages 3 and older will enjoy playing with the 43 press-outs and cardboard figures of this pop-up house with scenes based on the classic George.

Bought this to take on a trip for those down times when something quiet is a good thing for everyone. This is a fantastic playset for kids very familiar with Curious George- great gift for 3 or 4 year olds! Lots of punchout pieces (best stored in a ziplock rather than the book's envelope). My 4 year old LOVES this!

My daughter was given this book for her 3rd birthday and LOVES it! It has literally provided hours of entertainment every day since then. We've lost a couple pieces and parts of the house are torn apart but she keeps playing with it. It's so great that I've purchased a few as gifts myself. I highly recomend it paired with the Curious George story book.

These little people books that come with a figurine are wonderful. My girls love them. As I read to them they use the little figurine to act out what is happening in the story. On each page there is a box telling you what the figurine should be doing now as the story unfolds. Or you can do your own actions. A fun book to read and a must-have for Little People fans!

This book is my toddler's favorite! He loves the fact that he can take out the lamb and put it back in. Because it's a board book, it's really holding up well to the abuse he puts it through. It is the one book that he picks up and pages through on his own

I love this little Fisher Price book. It is a precious story of a little lamb who decides that she is going to explore the world.
She doesn't get very far before she misses his MaMa however.
My granddaughter loves being able to touch the wonderful lamb that came with the book. The book is sturdy and will not mind a child's handling. Well worth the time for you and that little one to enjoy the read.

My 18 month old daughter is in love with Dora! It's on at the babysitters and it has started this whole Dora frenzy in my house with her. Needless to say that my husband and I went out to buy her some books and videos. This book was one of them and she loves it. It's a cute book. It's a change from all of the normal settings you see Dora in.

This book is sturdy and cushy, and it is fun to see Dora in a different setting.. the beach, decked out in a purple swimsuit and all. Many of the pages ask the child to point out objects, and my 16 month old daughter is becoming a pro. This book also incorporates a little bit of spanish. When Dora says "Adios" at the end, my daughter always starts waving. I recommend this book for babies and toddlers.

MY 20 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER LOVES THIS BOOK! SHE DOESN'T SEEM TO LIKE THE DORA CARTOON (EXCEPT THE THEME SONG), BUT I THINK THAT SHE LIKES THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT IS INTERACTIVE. DORA ASKS QUESTIONS OF THE READER SUCH AS "...DO YOU SEE THE BLUE FISH?" AND I HAVE MY DAUGHTER POINT TO IT IN THE PICTURE BEFORE TURNING THE PAGE. AFTER SHE POINTED TO THE CORRECT FISH ONCE AND MOMMY APPLAUDED, SHE WAS HOOKED! THE GREAT THING FOR ME IS THERE ARE DIFFERENT COLORED FISH IN THE PICTURE, SO THE NEXT TIME THRU I CAN HAVE HER FIND THE ORANGE FISH, ETC. ON THE PAGES THAT DORA ISN'T ASKING THE READER A QUESTION, THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER DETAILS TO TALK ABOUT. THIS BOOK HASN'T REALLY GOTTEN "OLD" TO ME AFTER MANY READINGS, LIKE SOME BOOKS DO. WE JUST KEEP FINDING NEW DETAILS TO TALK ABOUT IN IT!

I had checked this book out at the library, already knowing what a wonderful author Jane Yolen is. Well, I was impressed once again with this sweet little toddler story. My girl just turned two and about three months ago, she asked us to read this book to her every night before bed. I had to renew the book twice and finally decided we had to buy it, this book is so precious to her. The words on each page are just right for a two-year-old attention span. The writting is so lovely and flowing, it is a joy to read aloud! The illustrations of Dimity and her frog friend are just adorable. She still has this book in her rotation of favorite bedtime stories.

The book deserves the highest of praise! Dimity Duck is a favorite for my daughter's bedtime story. Yolen has teamed up with great illustrators for her children's books that match the quality of the words - Dimity Duck is only one example of this. This is a fun and extraordinary book - you won't be disappointed! Also don't miss How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? by Jane Yolen.

Come along with Pooh and friends to help Christopher Robin find his alphabet blocks. This adorable board book teaches the alphabet while capturing babies attention with a wonderfully rhythmic intonation, "A and B are in a tree. C and D have come to tea," and so forth. The illustrations are sweet and appeal to young children. ABC's is my favorite in the Learn and Grow series, with 123, by Lisa Ann Marsoli, and Colors, by Andrea Doering tied for second. ABC's is a delightful little book with simple images for easy comprehension. Birth and up.

My 2 year old daughter thinks this book is hilarious! She laughs and giggles at every turn of the page We've read it so much that she's got it memorized - I catch her sitting on the floor "reading" it to herself. When I read it to her she loves to answer each and every question with a resounding NO and follows it up with the correct answer.

This would be a good book in a group setting - I can just see a whole crowd of toddlers yelling No and cracking up!

No other book will do -- my 6 month old has been obsessed with this book for over 2 months. It is the only book that holds a candle to her Baby Van Gogh video. On a couple of occasions when the book was not nearby and she was fussy, I simply said "Do donkeys dance?", and she immediately quieted to stare at my face, waiting for the next line! She smiles when she sees the cover.

Sure-fire treat for young ones!

This is my 5-1/2 month old baby's favorite book! I purchased this book because it was highly recommended by Oppenheim, and I've been really pleased. A huge smile appears on my baby's when we turn to the first page. He "talks" and smiles the whole way through. The images are simple and bold, and have a whimsical appeal that really strikes a chord with us. The book focuses on different animal actions, such as the pages, "Do hippos hop? No, fleas do!" To make it even more fun, we add sound effects, such as what kind of noise a hopping hippo would make, as well as fleas. I think that we're going to need a couple more copies, because this book is such a winner with us, we'll wear multiple copies out!

Can be used as a learning tool

This book has very cute illustrations that will make kidslaugh. The title page begins a series of questions about the actionsof different animals like, "Do pigs buzz around flowers?" After the question, the next page answers the question which is always, "no, this animal does that behavior". I think this book would make a good learing tool. It is good for teaching verbs, opposites and animal names. However, there were some things I didn't like about the book. It asks the question, "Do donkeys dance" on the title page" and the next page is a picture of a girl but the answer to the question is not printed on the page. I think that some other words are too complex for begining readers, like the word flamingo. END

My daughter, from the age of 6 months (now 11 months) was so entranced by this book, it was like magic. It allows the parent to be animated, and keeps her attention with the great pictures and brief dialogue. So many of the board books are too wordy and most kids will stop paying attention. This book is just perfect for babies, infants and toddlers!

The variety of sounds and simple drawings in this book are delightful. It tickles our 15 month old daughter and is fun to read aloud. It quickly became a favorite and one that our daughter would request over and over again. She now 'reads' it to us. If you have a young dog lover in your family, this book is a must.

My son loves this book! The language is simple and some of the lines repeat, so he can "read" along with me. He loves the part where the bear wakes up and growls, because he can growl like the big bear. The pictures are beautiful, and this book is definitely a winner in our house.

I liked the idea of the book- the underdog/ shy donkey finding that he too had something to give the baby Jesus .I was hoping for a book that highlighted some aspects of the nativity- something that would reinforce what I am teaching my children about the birth of Christ. I nice book but not an historical teaching tool.

Beautiful Christmas Book For The Very Young

Review Date: 2003-12-14
No offense to the reviewer disappointed that this is not a "historical teaching tool", but this book is not intended to be that! Nancy Tafuri is one of the most gifted picture book authors for the very young, and she has used her talents here to make the Nativity story accessible to the very youngest readers. The gentle text and expressive pictures draw young children into the stable along with the animals to see the newborn baby, and to greet him.

I read this at storyhours for two and three year olds. The children love joining in on the animals' songs, and when the donkey sings his noisy "hee-haw" song, they laugh along with the baby. No, they don't get the deeper message, but we are talking about very little children and their first introduction to the story--and this works!

There are plenty of good books out there for older children about the Nativity. But if you want something to gently introduce your child to the wonder of Christmas--here it is.

I have never heard of this book before I checked it out at my daughters school libray. It is a good book to read before bedtime.

My mom got this book for me for a school report and it is easy for me to read and understand. I like her to read it before I go to sleep at night. I would tell my friends about this book because it is a good book and it is about animals. I really like the end when the grandma owl comes out to tell a short story about the animals and then she says "sweet dreams".

as a closing this was an interesting and fun book to read and I even purchased 5 other books similar to this one for my girls i know they will enjoy, thank you...

I had not heard of nor seen this book until my 18-month-old son found it in the library -- and now he wants to bring it home every time -- and we have to read it every night. (So it's on his Santa list this Christmas.)

It's hard to describe his reaction to this story, but when we read it, I can feel his entire body relax. (And yes, he likes the goo, glup sounds of the toadlets the best.) I read with different voices for the tiny animals, and a sing-song voice for the Wise Grandma Owl.

It's important to mention, too, that I like the simplicity, repetition, and calming tone of this book. And I love to read it to my son. Which is important when purchasing children's books...you'll be reading them a thousand times!

Gets you from the very start!!

My three year-old daughter happened upon this book at the library the other day and we fell in love with it the first time we read it. She absolutely loved the illustrations of the little furry animals. But even more, she loved the language that the author used for the different animals. The baby toadlets were her favorite in the ubp, glup mud.

As a parent and teacher, is a great book for getting a younger child to follow a pattern. On each page "deep down in the woods at sleepytime" is used to start and then the pictures allow for further hints to the words that follow.

This is a page turner for my daughter and I love the rhythm that is created by the words. The language is soothing and gets my daughter ready for bed in an instant. This will be a book that we will definitely add to her library in the near future!
