This is one of my 16-month-old's favorite books! She wants to read it every day! The illustrations are incredible--truly some of the best artwork you can find in children's books. And the "story line" is simple enough that she can happily predict what's coming next. The repetitive nature of the text ["Peekaboo! I see..."] also makes it easy for a baby/toddler to follow along. I wish we had discovered this book sooner... Not sure if this book will become too simple as she approaches 2. I will definitely be giving this book as baby shower gifts!

I ordered this book because my school recommended it as an appropriate and outstanding book for 2's. I received it, a little dissapointed in the lack of story line; however, my little budding toddler absolutely loves it. She guesses the "I see" before I turn the pages. And I do have to admit that I love the illustrations and the sweetness of the book. I just wish I had bought this when she was an infant and I REALLY wish (listen editors) that it was on board book, because I would love to give it as gifts to expecting moms!

My 16 month son has been intrigued with this book since the first time he saw it. He brings it to us everyday for us to read. When we can't read it to him he then sits and flips thru the pages himself.

Wonderful clear illustrations for small child.
This is a must have!

Need a new baby (or 1st birthday) gift? Are you tired of buying blankets, booties, and bunny sleepers? Then here's a gift I love to give that is guaranteed to unwrap a smile!

"Peekaboo! I see..." wee readers instantly drawn into this heartwarming story based on the popular children's game. It features an adorable African-American toddler sporting an inquisitive nature and naturally textured hair. I couldn't tell if the child is male or female, which makes it appealing to everyone.

"Peekaboo! I see..." eager little readers searching soft pastel drawings for clues. What DOES the child see? The tip of a tail. The top of a hat. Turn the page to discover a playful puppy or laughing grandma. Award-winner Rachel Isadora uses only 53 words, printed in large, easy-to-read type, to keep you guessing.

"Peekaboo! I see..." pleased young readers requesting this book again and again. The first evening my youngest daughter spent with a baby sitter, she cried when she realized Mama and Daddy were gone. Thankfully a warm lap, soothing voice, and repeats of Peekaboo Morning comforted her until we returned.

For another heartwarming book by Isadora featuring simple text with large, easy-to-read print, and captivating illustrations, read In the Beginning.

Having served on several community and non-profit boards, I thought everyone always worked in harmony on these boards. But, I recently found out that's just not the case. After a couple of our board members did not see a vote go their way, they then went out of their way to "stir the pot" and not support the board decision. I needed help ... and found it in "The Perfect Board". The three pages dealing with respect and unity were woth the price of the book alone! This book should be required reading for any board member or potential board member. This primer is loaded with great wisdom!

Clemon's new volume is a wonderful tool for individuals who are about to enter a challenging and sometimes unknown world - the world of Board service. I have served on a number of Boards in my nearly 35 years of professional life, including 8 years service as an elective office holder, perhaps the most difficult of all Boards of serve on. How I wish that I had Clemon's insights during that time. Buy the book- its a gem.

The Perfect Board is a great resource and provides a list of requirements for my (future) Board Members, the legal necessities related to meetings, and decision making in groups. Most importantly, the writing style makes for a very easy and interesting read. Instead of a textbook and academic approach that typically puts me to sleep, the writing style is straightforward and practical, and this combines to keep it compelling.

"The Perfect Board," is a book written for those who want to become an effective member of any Board of Directors. In essence it is a self-help book chock full of essential guidelines to be an effective leader.
However, this work is written in a cleaver way, as it is told in story form when a young woman named Rebecca is about to be promoted and is unsure how to proceed. In her quest to do the best job she can, she seeks out help and is lead to a man, EJ Cummings, who shares with her a book which he is about to release. In this book he shares the principals that he has learned through years of dealing with this facet of business. This information gives Rebecca the knowledge and confidence she needs to perform the task before her.
In giving this work a storyline with characters that are about to embark on this journey, author Calvin Clemons puts this self-help book many notches about any other. The personal touch it brings allows the reader to absorb more of the information in the work, allowing a relaxed read instead of feeling you must obtain every morsel, great move on author Calvin Clemons part.
I believe this book will help many and is definitely packed full of some great principals that definitely should be followed.

There are five pages on which your special grandchild's picture and your own pop right out at you! It's great for grandchildren who don't see their grandparents on a regular basis. It keeps grandma's picture in front of them in a fun way, while promoting the love of reading. It also makes a unique gift for a new grandparent. ( Make sure you buy the one specially formulated for "Grandpa", too. )

This will definitely be a favorite of yours!

This book is too cute, my friend gave it to her mom with her mom & son's pictures. It really is unique & I wish there were other titles as well (picture me with mommy, etc.) One small complaint, the book is really really short. But overall, a very original gift idea for that special grandma!

I purchased this book for my 2 yr. old grandson. Now his "grandma book" is his favorite - we have to read it at least 5 or 6 times every night. It's easy to understand, even for 2 year old, and he can look at his picture and his grandma's picture (which you paste in the cutouts provided) on every page. The book is beautifully illustrated holds child's attention to the very last page. I would highly recommend it for children 18 mos. to 4 years. However, after the age of 4, I think the child would get bored very quickly.

Essentially everybody is having the kind of time that the Cary Grant character has in the movie "Bringing Up Baby," and it's all happening at the same time, and all tightly interrelated, yet it's not at all confusing. Somehow through all the silliness, real feelings are expressed and real "philosophies of life" interact. It's very funny and very clever.

Painful Lessons Revisited

Angolos, a wealthy Greek billionare finds himself diagnosed with cancer. A cure is available, but the cost is most often sterility. Released from medical care, Angolos decides to take a short break at a small seaside town and meets a young woman named Georgie. Georgie is sweet and innocent and worships the ground Angolos walks on. After a short courtship, the two marry and in a few months, Georgie announces her pregnancy only to find herself thrown out of the house. A stunned Georgie, not knowing what she's done wrong, leaves and returns home to go back to college. Now after three and a half years, Georgie has earned her degree and managed to make a living for herself and her son....for years Angolos has deposited money into an account that Georgie refuses to touch. When a friend of Angolos' sees Georgie's son Nicky, he is stunned at the miniature version of Angolos. He tells Angolos that there is no doubt, he has a son and when he sees Nicky he knows he made a mistake all those years ago, now he wants to be a part of Nicky and Georgie's life, but will she be able to forgive him?

This was a passionate, sexy book. At times, Angolos can be thick headed, how many times must his jealosy be proved to be for nothing before he can trust Georgie. At times, I think Georgie is a little too forgiving, but still she is a strong character. Great book.

Very Enjoyable 4.5 Stars if given the option

I liked reading this book; as usual a failure to communicate with each other caused the hero and heroine to split. I understand the hero doubting the child's parentage but I think keeping his possible inability to have children from fiancé\wife was very deceitful and took away from his likeability.

It was great that the heroine was no longer a pushover and was able to speak her mind and not follow the hero as if she didn't have opinions of her own. I think the hero and heroine should have discussed the issues, she was having, with his mother and sister making him aware of the way she was treated by his family.

There were several twist and turns to keep the reader involved and I thought it was a very good book.

After a whirlwind marriage to Greek billionaire Angolos Constantine, Georgie was pregnant - and was sure Angolos would be delighted. Instead, he told her to "go away and never come back." So that was exactly what she did. Angolos has never seen his son - until now!

In fact, Angolos Constantine didn't think he could have children, and now he's not prepared to let this miracle go. Even though Georgie seems to hate him, he'll have what's rightfully his...by whatever means possible!

For a man who has beaten cancer even at the risk of being sterilized, Angolos Constantine was ready to celebrate.
On his way to see Paul he stopped at a beach where he saw Georgie, a 21 year collete student, who brought his body to raging life.

Georgie had known him less than a month when they married. They couldn't keep their hands off each other.

What a shock when telling him the happyest news of having a baby caused him to tell her to get out and never come back.

Much in between, but 4 years later Paul gets a chance to see Nicky and tells Angolos that the child is in his spiting image.
Angolos was sure that Georgie had betrayed him with Alan, her friend.

Mama Constentine had constantly been telling Georgie that Sonia, the ex-wife, was the woman for Angolos.

Angolos problem was that he couldn't forgive but he couldn't let go of Georgie either. And he wanted his son. So he decided to move in with them. Georgie wasn't the same woman he had married, she had more backbone and stood up to Angolos for the sake of her son.

What a great Love story! Excellent twists and turns to move at a very good pace. Great to see a strong man in thrall to his wife.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- Should be a keeper! Enjoy!

R. D. Henham (aka Rebecca Shelley) has added an excellent book to the fantasy genre. Its fast pace and many twists ensures that kids hang on every word. In a world where many kids' books seem to be migrating to the "edgy," it is refreshing to have an exciting adventure sans the slime.

A delightful book that I believe will be fun for the middle-school age child, but also a joy to parents who love to read to kids of all ages. With a style that "tastes" of Judy Blume, which is unusual for the normal fantasy story, it's witty, cute, full of adventure and action without getting too "gross" for younger children, and doesn't leave out anything that most readers expect of a sword-and-sorcery story. Beautiful cover, reads fast, and several unexpected surprises right to the end.

Red Dragon Codex is a great fantasy story that includes not just dragons, but all kinds of magical creatures. The best part is that it is written specifically for middle grade readers. Girls and boys alike will love that the plot moves along quickly, and the story is full of action, thought and bravery. I grew to love Mudd, Hiera, Kirak, Greenthumb, and Iroden. Like all the great quest stories, this book has great characters, mysteries, dangers, and unexpected heroes. Though a super-fast read for me, I was never bored. In fact, as it progressed, I didn't want to put it down. Like with Harry Potter, it doesn't matter what age you are--you will love this book!

Walt Disney's 101 Dalmatians

101 Dalmatians is a very good book. Its about 15 puppies that get kidnapped by a cruel Cruella Di Vil. They are tooken to her mansion where there were a lot more dalmatians. They then go through a lot of trouble getting home. I think that any age of kids would like this book. I really like how Pongo and Perdita save there kids. I think that this book teaches kids that if they steal that bad things will happen.

I am a huge book person when it comes to children's books anyway. I thought this S is for Star book would be a neat tradition to start with our children to read each Christmas season.

This book is very informative and would be wonderful to read one letter each day leading up to christmas with a school age child. I bought this book for my 7 month old nephew and while it is nicely illustrated, I don't think it will hold his attention very well as it is much better suited to an older child. I would not suggest this book for children under 5, simply because of the reading level.

As an elementary teacher, I loved the layout, illustrations and information in this book. It reaches across age and learning ranges by having two levels of information - a shorter rhyming stanza and then extremely detailed information in the margins. The illustrations were beautiful and engaging even for children below the recommended age range - a book that will truly grow with your children! Also, it addresses Christmas traditions from cultures around the world and represents an evangelical Christian viewpoint of Jesus Christ.

I picked this up in person at the bookstore, and I bought 4 copies. We are using them for gift exchanges as well as a copy for ourselves. I homeschool two young children and decided to do two letters a day from this book and came up with a coordinating activity for each letter. There is a plethora of Christmas information within these pages. You can use it just for the rhyming portion, or go more in depth and study the margins which have everything from Bible verses to explaining the origins of certain traditions, and all sorts of interesting tidbits. The illustrations are beautiful as well. We are really enjoying it!

This book solidifies why I love Sleeping Bear Press.

The illustrations are wonderful, but the extra facts about the traditions of Christmas are just great. I learned so much just by reading this book, such as "X is for Christ." I never realized why we abbreviated Christmas, at times, for Xmas, but now I know because of this book. The book talks a lot about Christian traditions, but tells of other traditions all over the world, such as what other countries eat for their "feast."

This book is great for anyone who wants to learn more about Christmas traditions!

John Scarne is the master when it comes to all types of gambling. If you want to learn the best way of understanding what the true "odds" of the game are, read his books. He goes into detail about how people cheat at the games and what to do. His argument about different methods of play are very accurate in showing you how you will eventially lose. I have always played the game using the "true odds" and have managed to come out a winner. His presentation of using money management is very important and "MUST" be considered whenever you play. I would highly recommend this book to my friends.

This little book says it all. If you ever think life is too complicated and frenzied and stressful, read this story about Selma. She knows the secret of happiness in this life and you'll want to share her wisdom with everyone you care about.

You'll find this book in the Juvenile section. It only has about 32 pages in it. You can probably read it standing next to the shelf in the Children's Area of your library or book store, but when you're done, you will know the secret of true happiness. Save yourself some time, Dr. Phil's book is a lot longer than this and it won't help you as much. Yes, it's the story of a sheep...but she has the answers to some tough questions. Then buy one for everyone on your gift-giving list! Read-Consider-and smile...

After having dinner with a new friend and venting a bit of our commonalities in various daily life (not untypical) frustrations, my pal dropped by my office this morning with a small, not so small, gift: Selma by Jutta Bauer. Oh, how we waxed philosophical over dinner! Solving world problems, defining the meaning of life, discussing the pursuit of happiness! But I took a coffee break at my desk upon receiving this gift and in a few minutes, read the 32 pages of this children's book (of all ages) by a prolific German author in juvenile literature. And there--all problems solved. Wasn't that easy? Selma the sheep in a few, simple words, with a bit of repetition for those of us who can be a little dense, conveys how to live a happy life. No, I will not convey her sheepish secret here.

With some online searching to discover more about this wise sheep and her wise creator, I discovered that another version of this book is titled, Ewe Too Can Be Happy, with apparently no difference in storyline from this title. Selma's lesson, overall, however, is one of simplicity, so I opt for the original, less cutesy title.

Great for kids of all ages

Enjoyed the size, color and design of this little gem.
Nice, positive message with some repetition is fun for little ones.
Gentle irony is also a treat for the elders who may be reading to them.

Makes a cute little gift!

This was one of those rare finds - flipping through the pages in a toy store while the Christmas rush bustled behind me, I stood reading with a serene smile on my face. I immediately bought all copies, and ordered more for all my friends. This is not a children's book, it is a mother's book, which serves to bring us the perspective we sometimes need in our busy lives. This book was a bestseller in the author's native Germany, and I see it having a large following here due to it's sweet, simple message.
