From the day that my daughter started showing an interest in books, this was her absolute favorite. She's now two, and still often requests this book over many other choices. I have bought a copy of it for every new mom that I know. Great book!

I picked this up in a bookstore a couple of years ago, and it is the clear favorite book in our house for the 2 and under kids. And we have a lot of books. But something about the simplicity, the fabulous photos, and the interactive aspect (not to mention the surprise ending) gets them laughing every time!

Fun and Engaging book - our favorite

We originally found Baby Boo at our library. It was the very first book my son really hooked onto at around 10 months. He would pull it out of the bookcase over and over. It was also the first book he responded to interactively- the "Do you want to play with me?" page always gets a big nod yes and the BOO page always causes rolling giggles.

My son is now 14 months old and still adores the book. We read it several times a day upon demand. And I actually don't mind reading it over and over and over, it is fun to read and easy to remember.

My 17 month old really likes looking at this book. I read about it in Parent's magazine and am so glad I found it. This would be the perfect book for any child fascinated by babies or under the age of 20 months.

My infant girl enjoys this book. It doesn't seem to appeal to her like some other books (ie as the Boynton books do) but she always giggles at the Boo part. I would recommend it.

My 18 month daughter has a lot of books, but the one she will always pick from her shelf is this one (followed by a close second to Sesame Street's 1, 2, 3 Count With Me). I rely on this book so much that I've resorted taking it with her when I run errands. The illustrations are bright, colorful and fun to look at. Letters are shown in both uppercase and lowercase. They do seem to stretch it though when they get to the end of the alphabet. Seems they had a hard time coming up with animals. U is Unicorn and they felt it neccessary to have Elmo on the page holding a sign saying that unicorns are make-believe. And for the letter X they portray a Xenops. But overall, this is a great book and it's been very helpful in teaching my daughter letters as well as the different animals.

Great Intro to the Alphabet!

I am so pleased with this book! It is a great way to introduce my little one to the ABC's. I was very happy that the cover seems so durable, and the size is just perfect for little hands. I think it is a great tool to use with your child, especially as they learn words that begin with the letters of the alphabet. You can't go wrong with this book!

Wonderful book, fun, colorful and great for teaching kids about animals and the alphabet

Took my 18 month old son to Toysrus and he ran to his favorite aisle...the BOOK aisle, he sat down and chose two books this one and 1,2,3 count with Elmo and Me. He LOVES them both. This book is just great, beautiful pictures and such a nice way to begin teaching your child numbers as well as different animals. My son cannot get enough of Ernie & Elmo and this book really fits the bill for him. I love the construction of the book, it's not exactly a board book it's what I would describe as a "new and improved" board book, has a wonderful cover (chewing resistant)and it is real sturdy. My son has a fairly extensive library already and I can say this is one of his all-time favorites. After I purchased this book and we left toysrus, we got in the car, my husband was driving and my son asked me to read it to him on the drive home, numerous times. Each time I read it he had a huge smile on his face and by the time we got home (15 minute drive) he had already had a few of the animals sounds down pat! This is a great book and I highly recommend it! Oink, Oink!

Tom Arma's Animal Time is my son's all time favorite book. It has adorable photographs of babies in different animal costumes. My 19 months old especially loves the pictures of the elephant and skunk. He makes elephant sounds and swings his arm and plugs his nose when I turn the page to the skunk. I can not express enough how much fun we have had with this book!

I am a first time mother of a one year old and I cannot say enough about these books. I purchased two of them from a school book sale when my daughter was 4 months and she loved them. Since then, I have purchased more at each book sale and this morning am searching on Amazon for the rest of the series. My daughter cannot get enough of the cute babies and silly rhymes. She is walking now and most of the time has a Tom Arma book in her hand. I have even started buying extras to give to my friends when they have babies. I usually don't write reviews but wanted to give KUDOS and my thanks to Tom Arma. If you are considering buying these books, don't even give it a second thought...just buy. Your baby/toddler will love them!!!

We have all ten of the Arma books - they are all VERY well read! The pictures of the babies are wonderful, but when you add in the costumes, it makes for a double pleasure. Also, the rhymes that go with each scenario are just right for a toddler's attention span. The complete set has become my standard baby shower gift!

When I was a young reader, this book and its sequels were one of the first I picked up. I loved the animated series and jumped right into the novels. If you've seen the series you will notice several differences, most notably the gender changes of some of the characters; in the book the main cast is almost exclusively male, and the series balanced things out a bit. The sequels were treated very differently on television, but the original series treats the novel with the care and grace it deserves.

The writing is difficult to review not because of flaws or unusual style, but because of its simplicity. Dann works hard to maintain a perfect clarity throughout, in terms of the well-constructed characters and the simple yet thoroughly engaging plot. It's an easy read and one the kids will truly adore, and is a wonderfully nostalgic read for myself and many others. If you are an adult and unfamiliar with the series though, you may not find the substance you were looking for in this first book, but you will most likely enjoy the next few instalments in the series.

Concisely planned and well thought out.

The animals of Farthing Wood is a short but very amusing novel told from the view of a small group of woodland creatures intent on finding a new home. There arn't many books on in this type of category and I must say I fully enjoyed it. The tale goes of how Farthing wood, home of around two dozen creatures is in danger of being destroyed by man. Distraught, the animal's only way of surviving is by reaching a nature reserve - White Deer Park. Led by Fox (a main character)the group takes an oath to not eat each other and travel through danger after danger on their long journey. There are many sequels stemming from this book and the entire story has been adapted by a cartoon under the same name - one of the best I've seen at that. All in all this book is worth reading. An adventure of a different kind.

When I was little I used to watch the T.v series, The Animals Of Farthing Wood, and I loved it!!!!!!! It contributed to my love of animals and when I read this first book I found it even better!
This story of how the Animals OF Farthing Wood find their home being destroyed and have to leave is a remarkable tale of love as they have to learn to trust each other, including sneeky Adder. I love all the charcters, especially Fox, Vixen and extremly funny Weasel. This book made me laugh and cry (especially when the hedgehogs got run over!) and I stayed in my room reading for hours. It is definatly a must-read for anyone who loves animals. If you have kids, then read them this book! I benifited hugely from it! I still have the T.v series on tape, even though I hardly ever watch it I won't let anyone tspe over it!
The next books are just as good as the first, and I thouroughly enjoyed the prequel (The Animals Of Farthing Wood, The Adventure Begins.) The next books are great as we learn about Fox and Vixen's cubs (Bold, Friendly, Charmer and Dreamer). Bold runs away from the animal's new home White Deer Park seeking adventure and Charmer typicly falls in love with Scar Face's son Ranger. (Scar Face is her dad Foxe's arch enemy) It's an ace tale and I hope that Colin Dann writes some more books as I've read most of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!xxx

This is a great book and is the best book I have ever read. The book is about a group of wildlife from Farthing Wood who,s homes are being destroyed. The animals do nothing about it untill the humans filled in the pond. Then they all meet in Badger,s set to discuss the problem together but nobody has any ideas untill Toad (who has been missing for over a year) returns and tells the animals that on his travels he came across a Nature Reserve called White Deer Park. The animals agree and the next night they leave led by Fox. But the creatures face many dangers and some die. I realy recommened this book. It is a wonderful tale.

Farthing Wood is being destroyed by human development, and the animals decide that they need to move to a safer place, a wildlife sanctuary called White Deer Park.

This is a truly delightful tale about how the creatures band together (friend and foe alike) and their adventures as they travel from their threatened home to a safe place that only one of them (Toad) has ever seen.

Recommended for children and adults both. I wish I'd discovered this story earlier!

This is a great, great book, and appeals to all in the age group that is described. I have to read this thing at least 4 times every single night. The colors are fantastic and the story is just very funny. Poor Bob. He and Larry serve as voluteers for Archibald's opposites lessons and well, Bob is short so he gets the short end of the stick! While Larry gets a chocolate pie, Bob gets a sour lemon! Poor Archibald gets it in the end from Bob and it's pretty funny! Nothing like a chocolate pie in the face to send a toddler off laughing! It's also nice to use these books to break up the monotony of learning so much "stuff" in the early years of school. They're just so very funny and you don't forget them. How can you forget the opposite of clean when Archibald is standing there with a pie in his face? It's very well done and I sincerely hope that there are more of these because if there are, I'm buying them all! Highly recommend!

My daughter is barely two, but absolutely loves this book. The pictures are very bright and colorful, and they are very thick and sturdy. The people who designed this book were thinking about children this age. The pages are not thick like a board book, but not really thin like a regular book, therefore, it would be much harder for a children to tear the pages of this book, especially accidentally. The story rhymes like all of the bob and larry books or videos. This is also good for the children. The length of the story is great too. It is not too long with too many opposites because too many would make the book overwhelming to children this age. This is my first veggie book in the educational series, but I am going to get the other ones that are available. How can you lose with veggie tales and books together.

Opposite of "wasting your money"... this one's a winner.

Poor Bob suffers so, as he and Larry help Archibald teach a lesson on opposites. But a suprise ending will keep kids (and grown-ups) reading and laughing along with the loveable Veggie Gang!

Those wacky veggies have done it again. This time they teach ages 3-7 the concept of "opposites" while carrying on their usual silly antics. My first grade class begged me to read this book again and again when they wanted a little silliness added to their day. It challenged them to think of additional sets of words that were opposite of each other after each reading.

Nikki McClure's partial alphabet book perfectly encapsulates my experience of being a mother and an artist. You start off with a grand scheme, and only part of it ever comes to fruition before the baby wakes up, snacks need to be offered, etc etc etc. It's a lovely little bon-bon of a book, with very sweet images.

Great first baby book with high contrast imagery.

At 2 months old, my daughter loves this book more than any other. The high contrast, primarily black and white images appeal to her - she'll stare at the same page for a minute or two (no other book in our baby library can claim that!) and seems to have a definite preference for certain images. Very cool little book! I hope there is an O-Z sequel coming soon. Nikki - are you listening?

THE alphabet papercut book. This is a board book that shows letters of the alphabet, each one with an adventure showing a baby exploring some part of the world. If you need a gift for children -Awake to Nap- is highly recommended. The artist created the papercuts while her son was napping. Nikki McClure comes from a background as one of the more prominent visual artists involved with record labels in the early nineties. The blurbs describing her work as emboding the 'fiercely independent fire that fueled the passion and creativity of that time period' are sustantial. This little book is a real find.

My daughter loves this book!

I bought this book because I am a fan of Nikki McClure's art. I attempt to purchase her calendar every year but sometimes I'm too slow and miss it This year I got smart and ordered it a couple of months ago along with this book.
I was expecting the book to be more for me, however, my 1 year old adores it. She signs "again" when we're done reading and I have to start over again, and again...
The art work is lovely and the words are very soothing. My daughter especially loves the "K- Kale Kiss" and kisses the book at this part.
Well done. I'm also sad when it ends (like I'm guessing my daughter is) if only life hadn't gotten so busy we might have the whole alphabet. But I guess we'll settle for, "Awake to Nap" and keep reading it again, and again...

Although we are a little past childbearing years, grown-up children from our and friends' families are having babies of their own. What can we give them that is beautiful, worthwhile, AND distinctive? Carol Friedman's latest additions to her "Nicky the Jazz Cat" collection are absolutely perfect gifts for a spectrum of occasions - showers, birthdays, holidays, or "just because." Created as a prequel to the award-winning "Nicky the Jazz Cat" originals, "Nicky's Jazz Lullabies" and the introductory counting book "Baby Cat Nicky 123" are just as charmingly and thoughtfully conceived for very young children. Three preschool teacher friends have raved about the suitability and creativity of these new items. The colors and graphic design, the perky appeal of the kitten, and the clever use of simple rhymed wording in "Baby Cat Nicky 123" promise repeat readings. The tender, gentle nature of the musical selections rendered by distinguished jazz artists on "Nicky's Jazz Lullabies" assures that wee listeners' dreams will indeed be sweet. Carol Friedman deserves a place in the pantheon of contemporary children's literary VIPs for sharing memories of a beloved pet as well as honoring jazz artists who have contributed so generously to America's unique musical genre.

On behalf of the jazz cats in our home (a quartet), Baby Nicky deserves snuggles and pets for showing little ones how much fun counting to ten can be when it's lively and colorful. Nicky's sleek black coat and inquisitive yellow eyes look very cool with the lavender, pink, and aqua color scheme. His "mom" Carol Friedman helps him encourage kids to practice those numbers many times over through her irresistible book that's just their size. Baby Nicky meows, plays, jumps, peeps, hides, rides, slides, leads everyone into a circle to sing, steps out and swings, hops to the top, jams and be bops, skips, runs, and claps. And then, he's ready for a catnap to his favorite CD, Nicky's Jazz Lullabies (also available on Amazon). He and his young friends can drift off to warm and soothing ballads, musical nursery rhymes, and children's songs by some of the finest jazz artists ever. Baby Cat Nicky 123 lays all-important groundwork for Nicky the Jazz Cat's later learning adventures with some terrific jazz mentors, leading to his own success as a multi-instrumentalist and singer. After all, music is all about counting! This is a really innovative, well-woven concept for little ones, with delightful artwork, text, and music!
It's purr-fect in every way!

I didn't know that there were other books like this one until coming to Amazon. Now I'll have to get the others, too! My kids love this book! The bright sparkly paper really attracts their attention. And the text and lenghth is just right for the toddler age set. The round faced, smiling girl in the book always make my kids smile right back at her.

Baby Dazzlers are a must for your baby's book collection!

Easy to read to the youngest of babies, this book is fantastic for learning colors and naming simple objects. The rhyming schemes are fun and the unique art with glittery items on each page is entertaining. I own the whole series and my almost-two-year-old son has LOVED them since he was about six months old.

Along with the other three books in the series, my 18 month old daughter has this one. She likes all four, but this one is probably my favorite. This book; along with the others, is so colorful and bright that it captures my daughters attention. The text is simple so it's just enough for her to sit through. I highly recommend all four books.

This book came in a set of the other 3 Baby Dazzlers titles. My 2 year old loves the simple and enthusiastic rhymes, bright colors, and glittery accents on every page. Each book has a baby with a different skin color, which is always nice! Children's book of the month club offers all four books in a set for really cheap! I recommend all four

This book as well as Helen Stehpens other books are fantastic. They are the best books we've got to read to our baby. They have great colors and short and simple tales. My 6 1/2 month old pulls this one out of her toy chest among all her other toys.
