I got this book for my daughter over a year ago and it is still a favorite. The flaps are fun, the touchy-feely parts are very well done, and there are a lot of little details -- like spiders and worms in the farmyard -- that give you a lot more mileage for learning than a book with just a story. It's also very sturdy. I recommend it to friends over and over.

This book is the best touchy feely one I've seen and my son has loved it for 6 months. He especially loves finding the animals behind the flaps and the wide variety of textures.

I ordered this for a baby shower gift and found that it covers all the bases for little ones' enjoyment - flaps to open, fuzzies to touch, colorful pictures to discuss. I will enjoy reading it to my grandsons.

This is a fabulous book for babies 8 to 9 months and up. I would even buy it for a 6 month old. It's a great talk about book. They learn about the names of animals, textures, colors, shapes. Adlib anything you want to add. It's a flap book and a touchy feely book that is beautifully illustrated, colorful to look at, and holds up to their handling over and over. Older children love reading it to younger siblings.

My 10-month old girl never tires of this book, so we usually read it twice in a row. The first time through, she goes straight for the flaps. The second time through, we stop and feel the "touchy" parts of the book, talk about the animals, and find the duck. (It is the same duck from the "Find the Duck" book.)

My only complaint is that the flaps are positioned in a way that makes it very easy to shut them in the book incorrectly. I have to hold the flap down to turn the page safely. However, when I finally let my daughter do things all on her own, I found that it is easy enough to re-bend the flaps. They probably won't last as long as I want them too, but they are sturdier than they look.

Can Arthur keep his new pup from being sent away?

In a story that many young readers will identify with, Arthur has a new puppy who misbehaves, as puppies often do! Arthur sets about training him, and brings about a wonderful transformation that amazes everyone, with a fun twist at the conclusion.

If your children are fans of the wonderful TV series, this book is sure to appeal to them.

[...]. It is a good book for kids because it helps kids read. It is funny. Arthur gets a new puppy because his mother said he could. Arthur had to give five dollars for the puppy. Arthur was happy to have a puppy. He had been watching a puppy that gave birth to a litter of new puppies and Author got to keep one. I think everyone would enjoy this story, especially if you like puppies!

While children love reading fantastic stories of dragons oraliens or dinosaurs, that doesn't mean they don't also enjoy readingbooks featuring kids just like them.

Or, in the case of the popular Arthur books, aardvarks just like them. Arthur's New Puppy is the eighteenth book in the best-selling series. It follows the misadventures of the lovable aardvark as he attempts to housebreak his bouncy puppy Pal.

Children seem to identify with Arthur as he struggles with everyday problems with the help of his loving parents (and no help from his pesky little sister, D.W.) and friends.

If you have an Arthur fan in the house, or if you have a new puppy in the house, you'll want to check out this book.

This is a fabulous little board book. Oftentimes, the language in board books is very simplistic. Not here. With wonderful rhymes and beautiful literary devices, this book is a joy for both children and their parents. My favorite page begins: "A whiff of apples and cinnamon toast, air that is corduroy-cold..." What wonderful sensory images! My three-year-old son loves this book, and even my nine-month-old daughter stares at each page as we read it. This one is definitely a fall favorite of ours.

This is a fantastic book for toddlers. It boasts great illustrations and words that sound fun, yet which aren't silly or Seuss-y. I picked up a copy at the libary for my 1 year old last year and as autumn approached this season had to have a copy to call our own.

This is a sweet book for all ages. The way that the book is written is absolute poetry. I have read this book to our twins since they were about 3 months old. They love the colors and the story of a cute puppy who takes a walk in the autumn air. It brings up so many different possibilities for discussion to expand children's ideas of autumn in a fun way. I wholeheartedly recommend this book. Even adults will enjoy the creative descriptions. It will take you back to Thanksgiving at Grandma's house!

Something about the Happy Baby series really captures my son's interest, ever since he was about 6 months old. We started with the colors, then words and most recently we bought this book for ABC's. My son loves them all. They are very sturdy and even easy to clean should something get on them. I also like that these books are thorough and often feature unique things. For instance, this book has some words in it that aren't in other ABC books I have- thus I can teach him new words. The colors book even includes all of the basic rainbow colors but also has grey, white, black, etc. This will be a series that I will recommend to friends and also buy as a gift. I am so glad that a friend introduced us to this series!

I love this book and all of Roger Priddy's Happy Baby collection. We bought the box sets at a wholesale store when my son was about 1 year old. He is 2 1/2 now and these are still his favorite books. The vivid pictures clearly show the child what the word refers to. These books helped my son learn letters, colors, words, counting, body parts, and so much more. They are also extremely durable. The outside cover has a plastic-like coating to withstand drool and other wetness, and the pages are not easy to bend even when someone stands on the book (like daddy). I highly recommend these books even for infants. Now my son reads them to me!

Opening one of Gyo Fujikawa's books is like taking a step, or ten, back in time - back to when I was cozily snuggled up with a parent listening, rather than being the parent reading. They are the comfort food of children's books for me. And, on top of it, my daughter absolutely loves this book.

When my son was five months old, I learned I was expecting another baby. My nurse-practitioner recommended this book as a first reading experience for my son and as an introduction to having a baby sibling. We read the book almost daily until his sister was born. It was a marvelous experience for all three of us. I am getting two copies for my first and second grandchildren, who will be six weeks apart in age! What a lovely thing to pass down the generations.

If you have read some of Gyo Fujikawa's other books, like "Oh, What a Busy Day", then you know they can have some strange stories. Why include the one about the two kids who go out into the woods and die? Still, this book is great. The drawings all have a very relaxed soft feeling and the underlying lesson is to be gentle with animals. This is a good book to share with your child at bedtime, while he/she is cuddled in your lap. The last page is a special treat, lots of baby animals. My daughter loves play a version of "I Spy" when we get to that page, pointing out the owl or monkey or other baby animals as I call out their names.

I found this book to be very useful and was able to work through all of Amy and Joelle's suggestions about how to prepare for arrival of a baby. I actually read it after I had my 2nd child and wished it had been around when I was pregnant the first time! There is so much a mother/wife/friend/sister/daughter has to prepare for when a new life is brought forward, but so little guidance about how to prepare. This book helps you to start thinking about YOUR new life as a mother and all the other roles you fufill. I think it is a MUST read if you want to give yourself a smooth start.

I love this book for a number of reasons. I like their writing style and I particularly love the section on modeling your time, money and space. This is where most of my frustrations have come from in the past. The worksheets in the appendix helped me plan a heck of a lot better than I had been. It's definitely a book that helps you get on track, and stay that way. I will be recommending this book to all my expectant mom friends.

I had the pleasure of reading a pre-release version of the book while I was expecting my daughter, Kate, and strongly recommend it for all mothers-to-be...in fact, for all mothers in general! Amy and Joelle's straightforward process empowered me to discover who I am, what I value and believe about myself and motherhood, what I wanted my life to be after Kate was born and how to focus my valuable time and energy on achieving what matters most to me as a woman, wife and mother. I know I am a better mother, and more importantly, friend to myself after having read this book and worked through their process.

This was one of the first few books I purchased for my son because I read that babies like to look at other babies. He loves this book! Even at 3 months he would squeal at the pictures. At five months he was trying to lift the flaps. The pictures of emotions with the simple labels are now helping him to imitate sounds at nine months. I highly recommend this to moms looking for books for young babies.

Our son really responded to this book when we first showed it to him when he was, oh, I don't know 6 months or so. Since then, he has come back to it over and over and over, plucking it from his stash of board books which now runs 30 deep. Now at 18 months, he still loves it and says the simple words that correspond with each picture before he flips open the flaps. ("Hee hee" was the first one he said :)) Of all his books, this is the one we have counted on to keep him occupied and engaged while at restaurants, in the car, or as a distractor to head off a mini-tantrum. I am now buying a second copy of the book as the last page of our first one got soaked (juice? water?) and has warped. Actually, I'm tempted to buy a 3rd copy and keep it on hand for baby #2...

The pictures in this book have captivated all three of my children. My toddler brings the book to me to read over and over again. He looks at the picture of the little girl in white with blond hair and cries "Fishy!" (his best friend, named Fisher, who also has blond hair but is definitely not a girl). My favorite is the picture of the baby in blue surrounded by water and boats. This is a playful, charming book. I highly recommend it.

Neil Ricklen's books are terrific; we have three and they are among my 13month old dauther's favorites. I appreciate that his pictures are of "everyday" babies in "everyday" clothes playing with "everyday" toys. By that I mean, if you want an "Anne Geddes" style book, don't get a Neil Ricklin book. While I appreciate Anne's unique creativity in photographing babies, I value even more Neil's ability to photograph kids being cute within the normality of life. Each picture has floor and background of the appropriate color, with the child dressed (mostly) in the color, surrounded by objects (mostly) of that color. The "brown" picture with a brown-haired boy in a brown turtleneck surrounded by brown teddy bears with one cream colored teddy bear thrown in is my favorite. In addition to teaching colors this is a great book for "Where's the baby?" This is an excellent book!

The moment my 2 yr. old daughter saw the book, she never let go. Every night, we both cuddle up & look at the very colorful pictures with cutouts on each page. I make up stories on each page & also read to her the simple prayers that she could learn as she grows. Since the pages are made of hard board, they are perfect for tiny, experimenting hands which turn each page awkwardly with too much excitement. Furthermore, the lock at the side makes it easier for those tiny hands to carry. No more flapping pages! These little inquisitive kids will not only learn to read but also harness their motors/skills by opening/closing the lock. Another big plus is the handle which allows the children to hold/carry the book very conveninently wherever, whenever. I highly recommend this book to all your toddlers!

We own Baby Says, Bedtime, Bathtime, and Playtime Peekaboo books. Our daughter is particularly attached to Baby Says and Bedtime Peekaboo. She became attached to these books around 9 months of age and still reads them daily and she's 20 months old now. She loves opening the flaps and feeling each item. Bathtime and Playtime Peekaboo don't seem to stimulate her as much in the touch department, but she still likes looking at them. She has spent countless hours looking through the books herself. Unfortunately she ripped several pages out when she was younger and are now taped back in. They are sturdy but when a child is determined to rip a board book, it will happen. These are must have books. So much so we are ordering Farm and Dress Up Peekaboo.
