I found this book to be pretty good review for Part III. It helped with summarizing all the stuff I learned in chiropractic school. It gave good reviews of the clinical impression or diagnosis, physical examination, neuro examination, etc. I also used the following which was just awesome for showing me the type of questions to be prepared for on the Part III and Part IV chiropractic Boards:
National Board of Chiropractic Part III Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations by Patrick Leonardi
National Board of Chiropractic Part IV Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers (Volume 1) and (Volume 2) by Patrick Leonardi.
In fact, Dr. Patrick Leonardi's and Dr. Jeannette Gibson's study guides helped me to pass the boards. I advise getting these four study guides. It's better than taking these boards over again.

A great book, but not for Part IV

I agree that this book is a great asset, and would recommend it to anyone in Chiropractic school, having previously stipulated that it will not prepare you for part IV. The book does indeed review Part III is great detail, but the part four review - with the exception some medical stuff, abdominal exam, thorax, etc. and some others, does not fully prepare you for Part IV. I found the last section on technique extremely lacking, there were no pictures, and very little on the method with which National Boards test you on (vertebral malposition listings [national listings]) since most of us were taught Gonstead (at least at Life West).

In conclusion, I recommend the Irene Gold review seminars. They may help more than this book will. It is a great book, but let's be real here, with the expense of Part IV National Boards ($850), it is cheaper not to buy this book and go to a review and get a passing grade, than to save in the beginning and fail the exam. That's the opinion of someone who used this book and studied in detail and failed the first time around.

4 Stars!

Buy it, study it, and then take some time to relax while the rest of your class tries to learn that which you've mastered. This text allows you to optimize your time studying. No more wasted hours organizing; it is already done for you. Great book. Worth much more than the price tag. I can't endorse it enough. I gave it to my son, a chiropractor for Christmas, and it proves as useful in practice as it is in school. Much thanks to the authors for writing this book. Well done.

I should have read this, skipped class, and learned business

At first I thought this was too much information, then I realized it was everything I needed to know for my clinical studies as well as my academic studies. It is hard to understand how this book was written by doctors. I think professional editors would have a hard time negotiating this level of complexity. You both made it look simple and easy to follow. The amount of organization it contains is awesome. I am finishing up school now, and I only have one complaint about this text. It should've been handed out to the students on the first day of class with a schedule of which sections to learn for each year of study. It should be a required text for everyone. My life, my family, and my peers all would have benefitted from the decreased stress associated with a properly organized course plan. I probable could have saved thousands on coffee and actually slept instead of cramming this information for hours on end. This is an entire education between two covers. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My younger brother starts school in September and he is studying this book already! His life will be so much simpler because of it. I not only studied this material for boards, but due to the ease of which it is laid out I actually had time to learn it. You should write a business text next!

My son almost two years old enjoyed the images and words in the book. It was exciting for the both of us to watch his acknowledge of things that he had known prior, and be able to acknpwledge new things that he viewed in the book. I since have purchased a variety of Happy baby books since we are expecting.

Something about the Happy Baby series really captures my son's interest, ever since he was about 6 months old. We started with the colors, then words and most recently we bought this book for ABC's. My son loves them all. They are very sturdy and even easy to clean should something get on them. I also like that these books are thorough and often feature unique things. For instance, this book has some words in it that aren't in other ABC books I have- thus I can teach him new words. The colors book even includes all of the basic rainbow colors but also has grey, white, black, etc. This will be a series that I will recommend to friends and also buy as a gift. I am so glad that a friend introduced us to this series!

I love this book and all of Roger Priddy's Happy Baby collection. We bought the box sets at a wholesale store when my son was about 1 year old. He is 2 1/2 now and these are still his favorite books. The vivid pictures clearly show the child what the word refers to. These books helped my son learn letters, colors, words, counting, body parts, and so much more. They are also extremely durable. The outside cover has a plastic-like coating to withstand drool and other wetness, and the pages are not easy to bend even when someone stands on the book (like daddy). I highly recommend these books even for infants. Now my son reads them to me!

My daughter loves the Happy Baby books (her favorite is the Spanish/English Palabras/Words) and she likes this one, but I find the concepts in it to be a little complex. It has sections about animal patterns, matching animals with colors, etc. that are a little over her head. In a year or so this will probably be a good challenge for her, but right now it's a little too much. Still, a great book - she brings it to me regularly to "read" to her.

My daughter is a year old now and has had this book since she was only a few weeks old. She loves everything "Baby Einstein" and this is by far her favorite of all the BE books. In fact, her first word was "book" and she was holding this one up when she said it! I really think it's the bright orange tiger on the front. :)

You can't go wrong with any of the BE books. They have bold, bright pictures and poetic content. I love reading them to her but she also enjoys sitting on the floor and "reading" them to herself!

A must have!

This book is colorful, simplistic and really does teach little ones about numbers and counting. This was one of my son's favorite books. I'd recommend it along with the one about shapes. If you read these to your child starting at age one, they will most likely learn them by age two.

Good book for 21/2 years or older.

When I was majoring in education, I bought a lot of books for my classroom. I was planning on teaching small children, so I bought this book.

The back of the book says that it is for ages 1 to 4, but most 4 years can count past 5. Still, if you consider it be be for say ages 1 to 3, I think it is a very good book.

The pictures are bright, like other books from the Baby Einstein Company. The bees are cute! The text in the book is kept simple, so it is easy for little ones to comprehend.

The best way to encourage a child to read is to have books in the home.

This is a family favorite. We love the bright pictures and enjoy the interaction with our 10 month old. The pictures, as in most of the Baby Einstein collection are intriguing (looks intently with interest and points at them). Our baby has begun showing us with his fingers how many "five" is, how many "two" is, etc...What a fun way to learn about numbers!

My daughter is 14 months old and insists on being read this book about 10 times a day. She'll pick it up and bring it to me, which is nonverbal communication that even I can understand. She can make all the sounds that the babies in the book make (except for "night night"), which may be why she likes it so much. She also likes seeing the babies and playing with the flaps of the book. She loves this book so much that I'm buying my third copy. She's destroyed the first two, not due to any fault of this sturdy thick cardboard-paged book, but out of sheer hard use, and the fact that most 14 month olds are engines of mass destruction. It's cheap and kids love it - you can't go wrong with this one.

"Noisy Farm," also from BK, is also a big hit in our house. Amazon often offers a deal when you buy both, and if you have a 1 year old, I would just go ahead and buy both. They'll both be a hit.

My daughter (and I!) absolutely love this book! So much, that it has had to be replaced a couple of times. She gets so excited to pull back the flaps and shout out what she is expecting to see. We started reading it at about 6 months - and now at 11 months, she knows it cover to cover!

This was one of the first few books I purchased for my son because I read that babies like to look at other babies. He loves this book! Even at 3 months he would squeal at the pictures. At five months he was trying to lift the flaps. The pictures of emotions with the simple labels are now helping him to imitate sounds at nine months. I highly recommend this to moms looking for books for young babies.

Our son really responded to this book when we first showed it to him when he was, oh, I don't know 6 months or so. Since then, he has come back to it over and over and over, plucking it from his stash of board books which now runs 30 deep. Now at 18 months, he still loves it and says the simple words that correspond with each picture before he flips open the flaps. ("Hee hee" was the first one he said :)) Of all his books, this is the one we have counted on to keep him occupied and engaged while at restaurants, in the car, or as a distractor to head off a mini-tantrum. I am now buying a second copy of the book as the last page of our first one got soaked (juice? water?) and has warped. Actually, I'm tempted to buy a 3rd copy and keep it on hand for baby #2...

When I first got this set as a gift, I didn't think it was anything special. Plus, my daughter immediately started destroying the books by ripping off the flaps, so I put them away. My daughter is now 20 months old and loves books but will not sit still through a whole book . . . except these. She wants me to read them over and over, and they have replaced her regular bedtime book. She's completely mesmerized by them! I just ordered four more of Karen Katz's lift-the-flap books so that my daughter (and my husband and I) have something else to read.

My daughter loves these books now... She didn't love them when I first purchased them, when she was 9 months old. But by about 13 months they were her favorites since she had figured out how to lift the flaps on her own. The books have held up well to her rough handling. I think the price is excellent for 4 board books of this quality and will use these as shower gifts in the future. The books are very colorful, cute and fun and help build baby's vocabulary without being too heavy on the amount of words per page.

This is a very cute little box set. My daughter has always enjoyed books by Karen Katz. I love the interactive aspect of it. However, as is the case with all Karen Katz's books, the flaps come off way too easily when a child pulls on them slightly. I have to use clear tape to attach the flaps back where they belong in all of the books. We already had to buy 3 replacements for the books my daughter enjoys the most. Perhaps it's the publisher's way to ensure constant demand. I found these books at local TJMaxx and Marshall's for $2-$4.

My daughter loves this book. She has to have it at least once a day--if not 15 times. One of the first things she would do once she could walk was carry it to me so I could read it to her. As her vocabulary has developed she asks for it by name and loves to point out the things she knows the words for. And after having read it hundreds of times, I still find the art freash and amusing. How many children's books hold up to that test?

This is a bright and exciting book (it's on our list for the grandparents as a "not-before-bedtime" book) with fun pictures for toddlers. Our toddler loves to look through the pictures and although she is WAY too young to think about reading, the words are also very appealing and large and attract her attention too.

The drawings are bright and bold and show children of diverse skin colors (including green and blue) in outlandish clothes that are way too big for them. The underlying message is one of diversity, but it's not sappy or pushy.

Keith Haring was one of the great artists of our time, and it's tremendous to have a children's book that introduces children to his art in a casual way. This is not a "let's study the art of great artists" book, it's just a children's book filled with great illustrations that happen to be by a great artist. I suspect that many of the children who are enjoying this book as toddlers or preschoolers may have one of those tremendous "ah-ha" moments five or ten years from now when they end up on a school field trip to an art gallery and think, "I KNOW that artist."

laugh or say "Gross!". It makes the information stick in their
minds. Nicely written in a child's point of view.

I believe this book has to be one of the best science books in the biz. It got me wondering all about the body and how it works. It's a must read if you love science or even if you cringe at the word, it will make horrible science come alive.
