Amazing Book- Your Child Will Love It!Review Date: 2008-09-12
Our absolute favorite!Review Date: 2007-01-21
I will note, if you're looking for the perfect ABC book to teach your preschooler his/her alphabet, this probably isn't the book you want. The letters are a little curly-que and only capitol letters are shown. However, it a great book for introduction to the alphabet and is very entertaining for children. I also recommend purchasing the board book version on its own (not as part of the set). The board book is much sturdier and the books in the set are a bit more abbreviated in their illustrations--which to me are the best part of this series. Of course the hardcover version has paper pages, which is impractical for a toddler to whom this book is well-suited.
Wonderful book and highly recommended!

My First Word Board Book (My First Word Books)Review Date: 2003-06-24
A Great Book!Review Date: 2003-02-28
A great starter dictionaryReview Date: 2002-02-06
I started collecting these for my daughter after she was given one at 6 months and this is what we started to read to her every night. She woud sit and demand it to be read over and over and over again. The board pages and are easy for baby and toddler to turn and the pictures (real photography not illustrations) are wonderful.
The word book has a little bit of everything - like a mini dictionary - of things that baby will come accross in their daily life - clothes, food, utensils. My toddler can now read and say the names of each thing herself while pointing to them. It has helped her give names (and learn to say things by us reading the book over and over) to things in her world.
If your looking for a great picture book to share with your baby this is the one (and the series of books) to buy. You can never have too many books to read with your children.

She even uses the foods page as a menu. Before she learned the signs for some of her food, she'd bring the book over to me and point at what she wanted to eat. It was very cute.
She is 17 months old now, and the book is still one of her favorites. As she learns more and more what things are, she likes to point at all of them and tell me as we turn the pages. I think this book will give us even a lot more use out of it because there's still a lot of things she doesn't know.
My only complaints are:
1. How in the world is a baby going to figure out what a "combine tractor" and some of
the really off-the-wall things are. We always skip things like that. Even the tools page has very little interest in it.
2. Some of the pictures are difficult to discern to a young child what they are. The bag of flour, the coffee, and the ice cream, to name a few.
3. I would have liked to see more animals. How about a mouse or a bunny?
Aside from those, I think this book is a must-have in any baby's board book collection.

Where is Maisy?Review Date: 2008-07-21
The reader is told that Maisy is going to hide (it shows her picture, so you can identify her, in case you're one of the five people in the world who don't know what she looks like and couldn't spot her on the cover). On the following pages, you look for her in various places by lifting flaps - and finding all of her friends before finding Maisy!
The illustrations are admittedly not world-class stuff, but they ARE standard Maisy. They are basic but full of bright colors and, combined with the lift-the-flap aspect, a lot of fun.

great for any henson fanReview Date: 2007-12-16
i had seen an interview with him prior to reading the book where he equates working with henson to being asked to be a member of the beatles. just awesome.
this book has many anecdotes of his times working with henson, on sesame street, the story of the girl they did "big bird goes to china" with, getting punched in costume by rappers, and he tells the story of hensons death and how it affected him.
for any henson fan, it really is a must have.
Interesting tid-bits about the behind the scenes of Sesame StreetReview Date: 2007-10-13
The book was easy reading, took me about 3 hours and filled with life stories/lesson's from Caroll Spinney, the man behind Big Bird & Oscar the Grouch. I laughed and cried and totally enjoyed the book.
Great Big Bird Heart all the wayReview Date: 2007-09-03
It was interesting to read about how Big Bird's character was developed, and how just playing the part of a lovable children's icon changed Carol's life.
Worth your time. For sure.

They rush you down before you're ready, and use your breakfast as confetti!Review Date: 2008-08-10
The chaos caused by the monsters (more sensitive kids might get upset, I suppose, but my nieces don't) is done in a funny way, and the fact that the BIRTHDAY MONSTER CLEANING CREW! fixes everything at the end makes it all better.
Very catchy text, really funny illustrations. Perfect for a kid's first or second birthday.

You will not be able to put it down.Review Date: 2001-04-30
Once you log on the Net...anyone can find you! April 19, 2001 My father handed me this book becasue I was a "computer guy" and he thought I might enjoy it. (He would have given it 3 stars at most); but being as I am in computers...and you can do everything that is done in this book....I enjoyed it. Anyone who uses a computer, a chat room and a bulletin board will really appreciated it. The deaths are a little more gruesome than is required...but once you get pass that, the book keeps your attention.
It starts slow and picks up with every page. I could not put it down. I finished it on one day! This book is a thriller even up to the last page. A must read.... this is a thoroughly entertaining novel.
Note: I now turn off my computer at night.

I think the letters are perfectly easy to read and he now knows most of his alphabet. He knew several letters before but after having this book for only a week, he has learned almost all his letters and can call them by name.
He loves the "Shhhh" part at the end, in anticipation for the "Suprise- Happy Birthday!" All the different bugs keep his interest as well.
The book is written in a style that sounds so lyrical and flows beautifully. I would completely recommend this book for preschool learning and for simple enjoyment of hearing a nice story.
