It was the birth of a new Grand Prix car, the March 701, to be driven by defending World Champ Jackie Stewart and arch rival, former Ferrari driver, Chris Amon. This is just a small flavor for what was a watershed book for the "tell all" tomes to come. Ted Simon spent an entire year with the Grand Prix circus and the result is a book which has yet to be equaled today. If your interest lies in the older days of Grand Prix racing, this book is for you. At times, it almost reads like a work of fiction. Then again, the characters of the early seventies racing are no longer seen in our super sanitized 90's. You will read this over and over again.

A great book for every Chevrolet racing fan. Full of secret items and true stories of Chevrolet's behind the scenes involvement in racing when the AMA ban on manufacturer involvement was in place. Plenty of amusing characters from the early days of racing. Highly recommended.

This book will help you regain your faith in children and respect for their games. It has been the cornerstone of my work for twenty years. It should not be out of print. Accurate, honest, direct observations of children at play, without the constraints of adult supervision, outside the boundaries of their playgrounds.

Upon completion of reading the book "The Christian Training Steps of Riding", I feel exhilarated, renewed and strengthened to press on in my walk with Christ! I am now more eager than ever to proceed in the barn ministry that the Lord has laid upon my heart. As a Christian who has been all over the board in my 51 years of life, ranging from simple childhood faith, moving then into New Age, out of that and onto relying on self only and now, finally, into completely accepting Jesus as my one and only Savior, it is quite refreshing to read the author's spirit-filled words with her unparalleled gift of applying sound Biblical scripture incorporated with horse training with the training scales. This book will touch lives in all walks, horses or no horses. I not only plan on using it in my barn as a foundation on a daily basis, but also feel compelled to get it in the hands of everyone that enters for their own reading. Working with Missouri Foxtrotters, a breed that is susceptible to abuse by both trainers and riders, I am in hopes that it will change this mindset as they read this book, so straightforwardly and eloquently written by this author, so they might treat these lovely animals with love and respect. It is my prayer that this book will be in all barns as well as outside of barns, as to present a calmness to this chaotic world through the Truth that this book contains. Thank you so much for your humble dedication you have obviously put forth into the writing of this book!

Good book for anyone that is just getting into racing. Lots of questions answered.

This was a cool exciting book about a young jockey getting threatening phone calls. It also tells a little about her dog. This is a book that all horse lovers, racing fans, and mystery seekers should read.

Really exciting to read. Constant adventure! I am in love with the horses and unicorns in this book. They can talk! Alea is a great author and is only a teenager!

We listened to this on a long road trip, and it kept the children and parents entertained. Jim Weiss has a fantastic voice. It left us wanting to hear more of his stories!

maybe a little lax in some detail and in mathematics but it's called a "practical guide." which, is exactly what it is. a great complement to hucho's work and also to katz's. easily the most enjoyable and stimulating of the how to books for race cars.

I found this book to do a fine job of meeting its stated objectives of giving general guidelines to the beginning and intermediate level racer. I would consider it a "must read" for anyone seriously thinking about buying or preparing a car for competition. While it is less technical than a Carrol Smith book, and it isn't a "how-to" cookbook, it does guide the reader through the thought processes which should be undertaken prior to spending hard earned money.

Mr. McBeath's writing style is both clear and entertaining. It takes the reader only a short time to realize he has "been there, done that". I first became aware of Mr. McBeath's skills after reading articles he has written for "Race Car Engineering" magazine. His understanding of the subject matter is evident and he teachs from the point of view that most racers can appreciate, that is, how to do things on a limited budget.

The book is geared towards road racers as opposed to the circle track or drag racing crowd and many of the references are for the UK audience. But the lessons to be learned can benefit anybody willing to take the time to give what he says some thought.

The photographs and the illustrations are used to clarify and are fine quality. It's worth the price.
