Larry Davis has another great book out as a follow up to Super Stock - Drag Racing the Family Sedan. This one mainly covers the factory built stockers and cars that made places like Woodward Avenue famous. Good clean photos (wish they could have been bigger though) of a lot of stockers. The focus is on the Midwest/Ohio are where Davis grew up. Great book, highly recommended!

Great pictures. Great section on equiptment. Too many books are lacking in the equipment sections for fear of obsolescence, not this one! This is a great overview for road racing enthusiasts.

This book is superb. I couldn`t corner properly until I read the section on cornering, now I can power through at a higher speed than some of my team mates. The training section is particularly useful. Throughout this book makes its points with excellent colour photographs.

Nascar is more of a family sport than any other sport in America. This book showcases NASCAR's greatest families. The Earnhardts, the Jarretts, the Allisons, and of course the Petty's. This book has great insights and awesome pictures. A must have for racing fans.

Martin shares his life as a "Boomer Freshman", complete with rekindling of adolescent problems he had thought were long buried, with humor and candor, and meanwhile gives those of us who feel sheepish about not having actually read the Greek Classics painless synopses set against observations on the geopolitical dramas of today and the author's all-too-real concerns about his own mortality. Amazingly, he's combined all of this in a quick and satisfying read that makes you feel like you've done something to better yourself.

Refreshing and Uplifting

Interwoven themes of mid-life personal growth and recovery, contemporary college education commentary, and snippets of Ancient Greek literary wisdom, with a refreshing and upbeat message! This book has it all, from the serious to the humorous, as a tranformative tale of work, love, mind ,and body. It is uplifting and deftly done. The author describes a personal journey that adds new meaning to being a 'life-long learner'. And, he documents the life force of youth in current culture against a backdrop of literature that spans human history. It seems to me that he has captured the elan vital that exists across the generational divide. And, he shows us a perspective that tears down this divide, like the Fall of the Berlin Wall, to expose a very warm, human story that anyone, of any age, can relate to. It is a refreshing and uplifting read that leaves the reader a better person.
Having visited the St. John's College campus,in Annapolis, Maryland, several times, I can attest to the flawless accuracy of his descriptions of the college setting, activities, and staff.

This video is a basic overview of various biblical texts dealing with the unified economic system so clearly elucidated in Rev. 13. The very fact that the Euro dollar was almost a joke when this video was done and now is much stronger than our own dollar certainly adds weight to the conclusions set forth in the video.

I really think this book is "right on the money" in "end time" facts. From the first introduction of UPC codes, I KNEW we would be on a fast track to receiving the Mark of the Beast. This book explains what has been happening and what we can expect before Christ's comes for His church. It is wonderful to know that THOUGH, we as Christians can read about this, we will actually be GONE before a decision will be made to worship the Beast and take his mark..... HIGHLY recommend reading !!!

I am currently studying Social Anthropology at the University of Kent. Thus this book was a refreshing change for me - instead of reading about far away, bizarre locations - it was something I could actaully connect with and properly understand. I am also doing a dissertation this year on the topic of Foxhunting: A Rural Ritual - and I would be very interested to somehow contact Kate Fox and maybe get some input from her on the topic. Does anyone know how I might be able to get in touch with her? Her approach to the Racing Tribe is similar to my project - participant observation and interviewing a group of people withing the England - with an equine theme.

If Sally Baker would care to get in touch with me (my e-mail address is richardson@tote.co.uk) I would be happy to help her make contact with Kate Fox, the author of The Racing Tribe. I commissioned the original research project undertaken by Kate whilst I was marketing director at the British Horseracing Board, and from which the book came to be written. I can't, therefore, review with any real objectivity this book, as I am naturally biaised(!); safe to say it is a truly fascinating read, and successfully debunks various myths associated with horseracing and it's participants.

It took a lot of guts for Gail to write this book. Wonderfully crafted, this is a majestic tale of the history of Nascar, whether they like it or not! Gail obviously plowed straight ahead, didn't let anything stop her, and the final product blew me away. Great, in-depth research ... North Carolina is proud of Gail's guts to write it how she saw it. I think every Nascar fan needs to buy a copy of this book and read it! Every last one of them! For that matter, I'm wondering if Jr., Gordon, Petty, Stewart, and the rest of those good ole' boys have read this book? If not, they're missing out on a well-told piece of their own history. Well done,Gail. Bravo.
