"Poetry" is about poetry and not a book of poetry. It is Q's opinion of what is good poetry, and is a reprint of one of the hardback 'Fellowship Books' edited by Mary Stratton in 1914. There are plenty of blank pages for one's own notes (10). The content more than compensates for the awkward size (7.5ins. x 9.25ins.)but any reprint of this Master's work is a welcome addition to ones library.

Reality Check Delivered

This is a very important book for the study of regulation. The book puts into perspective (and escapes) the laissez-faire-ist fever that has taken over a significant part of the legal academy. Although unrestricted private property may be an appropriate policy in several instances, problems do exist where different regulatory systems perform better. Professor (and dear colleague and friend) Daniel Cole juxtaposes types of problems and types of regulatory responses based on property concepts. This juxtaposition reveals that a continuum of types of property, from unrestricted private ownership to complete public ownership, have been used to solve policy problems. Professor Cole explains the success of each on the basis of the problem's features. What is revealed is nothing less than a general system of regulation. The book goes beyond the notion that different problems have different solutions. Here we are told what solution tends to fit each type of problem. It is no surprise that this book has enjoyed glowing reviews (see. e.g. Prof. J. Wandesford-Smith in PolSci).

A European nobleman mysteriously flees spies to America

Who is the young scion of a European noble house Shirley and her brother, Captain Claiborne, see haunting their Grand Tour? Is this the missing son of the Archduke of Austria? Why does he flee the villain in Geneva to the Virginia hills, if not to pursue the Ambassador's daughter? Why does the Serbian villain try to hold him hostage, and how does Count Von Stroebel figure in all this? Meredith Nicholson has done it again in the tradition of Scott and Dumas, Doyle and Malory. Why does the confidant of Bismarck-like statesman Von Stroebel own a ranch in Montana? In turn of the century Europe, why does a wealthy young man wield clues to the missing archduke, while leading the villains astray? Who is John Armitage, "the Englishman who is not an Englishman?" Is he a worse scoundrel than the villain Chauvenet, who affronts his host with offendingly vivid waistcoats, pilfering royal cigarette cases, or does he mean the poetic things his eyes say to Shirley, when they meet between scuffling with spies? I won't tell, even though I reread this book on a regular basis.

Check out his website before you buy any of his books dealing with esoteric matters. His insights on the horrors of the Neocons search for domination of the earth are interesting, however it is kind of ironic that he would assume Bardon's Evocational magic would lead to higher levels of conciousness.
He clearly illustrates the evil of enslaving controlling and manipulating humans, but finds nothing wrong with doing the same with spiritual beings.
use your own ccommon sense. He lauds Iamblichus as a great perennialist, but this dude was known for stating a need for animal and human sacrifices for communicating with higher spiritual beings,
kinda like he's substituting one form of Satanism for another.

Underrated And Unjustly Obscure

Poor Ivan Goncharov! He was fated to become the Salieri of 19th century Russian literature. Thematic similarities between _The Precipice_, which he regarded as his masterwork, and _Fathers and Sons_, which Turgenev rightly regarded as his, led to a falling-out between the two authors, friends until then.

Yet _The Precipice_ is, perhaps because of its slightly campy air to modern audiences, a very enjoyable read today. It features:

--characters with programmatic names decodable to those with a basic knowledge of Russian (for example, the heroine is "Vera," or "Faith"; the bad-boy protagonist is "Volkov," or "Wolf");

--a plot containing seduction, betrayal, redemption, and secrets of the generation of elders (there's more implied sex here than in all of Turgenev);

--serious discussion of ideas that were to set Russia afire within fifty years, much as did _Fathers and Sons_.

Not as challenging, perhaps, as Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, Goncharov is far from a waste of time for the reader with an interest in the impact of philosophy on literature in the nineteenth century. Read it if you can find it.

I think it was smart of the publisher of this version to use the black and white pictures since the Kindle is also black and white. The pictures look great. The original text at the bottom of the pictures is too small to read but that would be true of any version due to the Kindle's resolution. I appreciate the Table of Contents, the list of illustrations and the formatting of this edition. For less than a buck a great classic with great formatting. Thanks!

My 80-year-old father recommended this book to me many years ago and I've read it over and over since - each time with pleasure. It's a fun romance with some wonderful plot twists and surprises. I couldn't put it down. The writing style is so unique and colorful, I found myself wanting to read the book aloud just to hear how rich it sounded! It's a keeper.

It's good to see this new reprint of Paul Taylor's great memoir on sale. It would be a tragedy if this magnificient book were to become unavailable.

In many ways this book is like a great Taylor dance. Filled with light and shade, humor and sadness, affirmation and mockery. There is also a sense that much has been only hinted at. But whatever might be missing, there is great joy in what is present.

This is the story of Paul Taylor's life, his work, his fiends, his creative passions. It is well-writtten and understated, and filled with delicious stories and wonderful surprises.

Probably most people who love his work have read it already. But this book is so good, that a knowledge of his work is not really necessary to appreciate it. It's a glorious look into a wonderful creative mind, and never dull.

Beulah Henderson has decided that the best relationship to have is one where no strings are attached and names aren't exchanged. Content to meet her lover of six months at different places and have mind blowing sex, Beulah doesn't see any problem with their relationship, well, other than the fact that they have never exchanged names and she has fallen in love with her mystery man. Not wanting to mess up a good thing, Beulah decides to turn the tables and stop seeing him before someone gets hurts, namely her. However, he is not having any of it and refuses.

Tag Pomertoy is in love with a woman and he doesn't even know her real name. Having met her six months ago, Tag was at first satisfied with their arrangement. The more he saw of her the farther he fell in love with her and when she tries to break things off with him six months later, Tag is not happy. He has fallen in love with his anonymous woman and he wants a real relationship with her. Now all she has to do is agree.

Public Domain by Bridget Midway actually surprised me. It made me feel things that I was unsure I should be feeling. I was angry with Beulah to start with. Angry and hurt that she would treat Tag like a sex toy and only want to see him to get her jollies. The more I read the more I realized that Tag was as much to blame as Beulah. He started out wanting the same thing when their relationship began and he was the one that turned the tables on Beulah. I liked these characters very much and thought their emotions were realistic, so much so that I found myself wincing at some of the feelings their words invoked in me.

For a quick, steamy, and delightful afternoon of reading, you can't go wrong with Public Domain. I know that the next time I go to a museum, instead of looking at exhibits I am going to look in all the hidden spots, just in case two lovers like Tag and Beulah decide to get frisky!
