A delightful story with wonderful illustrations which I would happily recommend to all parents.

Children can follow the story easily and recognise the situations as the baby bear shouts for more each time Grandbear plays with him by crying 'AGAIN! AGAIN!'.

Parents can sympathise with Grandbear who is obviously growing weary of the baby's demands but by the end of this short story it is he that wants more in a pleasant twist that all parents and grandparents will recognise.

A wonderful gift for a grandparent to give to their grandchild but it would also work in reverse as a gift for grandparents from the grandchild.

I hope you but this and enjoy it as much as my son and I have.

If anyone is looking a simple but great book for toddlers this is the book you should have. It is very much like John Prater's other books, meaning the same happy storyline with no scary bits. The illustrations are great and the bears look fanastic. Well Done!

This is a very easy book to color and a lot of fun. Although the author gives detailed coloring instructions in the captions, they may be a bit challenging if one is not familiar with parts of the plane. I found an excellent site on the internet which provided me with small color images of many of the planes, which helped a lot. The site is: www.aviation-central.com
The book is a "must" for any military aviation enthusiast who also likes to color.

This series is designed for anybody who works with students in upper grades.

BOOK 1 covers the Distributive Law, linear equations, number lines, properties of exponents, polynomials, and factoring polynomials. (Much easier than it sounds.)

Includes Answers and a Pre-Algebra Review. Excellent!

This series starts with the ultimate in basics and moves rapidly, in a well ordered fashion, to the essence of Algebraic concepts. The book takes what you learned in Arithmatic and shows you how it applies to upper Mathematics. The explainations are clear and precise with no fluff. We used it when my daughter was struggling with the conceptual jump from Arithmatic to Mathematics. The book leaves no gaps or guess work. When she was through with the exercises in book 1 she tested into the upper half of Algebra 1. I highly recommend it for any student. Forget the expensive, boring, repetitive, & typically hated curriculums. We did follow it with the second book which is equally as well done.

I am delighted to use this excellent, thin (77 page) algebra text with my son. I have been homeschooling my five children beginning in 1993. After dragging through Saxon Algebra with my two daughters, I was weary of the cluttered, text-rich format that covered way too much material. In about a month and a half, we will have covered this book completely. I look forward to receiving Algebra Book 2.

I plan to supplement with Saxon and Barron's Algebra the Easy Way for word problems. However, I want a clear initial presentation of the basics that progresses logically. This book delivers in a very pleasing way.

Thank you, Stephen Jahnke!

This is such a fun book for both toddler boys and girls. My daughter was resistant to wearing underpants but now takes great joy in searching her underpants for hidden aliens every morning while getting dressed. It seems to be a great companion to toilet training books since wearing big girl or boy underpants is such a huge part of that process. Fun and silly, we read this book aloud all the time as part of our bed time routine. Aliens Love Underpants

Fantastic Picture Book!

Right away this book is appealing to the eye. Bright colors with round friendly little aliens bouncing through the pages. And what's inside lives up to the cover and the excitement of the title. Its revealed the aliens visit the earth because of its underpants. And the story in fun rhyme proceeds to tell what aliens do with underpants. Its a great story to be realoud to younger kids, with simple words and great pictures that will hold their attention. A definate new favorite. That's sure to appeal to all.

Not only are the most basic & most complex techniques explained, the step by step instructions on re-creating their sample paintings are the best. If you do every exercise in the book, you will have all the techniques. Then all you have to do is practice, practice, practice....

I have been looking for an in-depth watercolor reference book for some time and I was not satisfied until I received this book. It is so complete, so perfect, that you'll feel as if you never need another book to draw from. In clear, practical language, combined with vivid illustrations, the book covers all about materials and tools. Then it goes on to cover just about every possible technique and seven basic watercolor subjects. What makes this book so wonderful to me is that it builds its information from beginners level to advanced and it does that so clearly that you have no problem following it or recreating the samples yourself. So apart from being an invaluable reference book, it is also a great confidence builder. Yes, you can paint.

I'd recommend this book for anyone with beginning through intermediate watercolor skills. It is especially useful for learning how to create special textures and surfaces such as skin, trees, fish, feathers, et cetera. As the name suggests, it covers technique rather than design, layout, color harmony, and the like. Its focus is on how to create the appearance of various surfaces used in nearly every painting. I think of it as a must have on every student's reference shelf.

Failing Schools or Failing Law?

Review Date: 2004-09-19
James Popham's book "America's 'Failing' Schools: How Parents and Teachers Can Cope With No Child Left Behind" is an up front and simply written piece that argues why the No Child Left Behind Act is actually hurting our students and schools instead of helping them. Popham explains how school report cards are not an accurate portrayal of a school's credibility, just as standardized tests are not a fair judgment of a student's abilities. He goes on to challenge both parents and teachers alike to speak up against this unfair assessment and demand better tests and more indicators to determine the educational health of our nation's students and schools. Popham's book clarified all questions I had regarding the No Child Left Behind Act as well as broadened my outlook on the negative effects standardized testing has on our country. Although his book contains some bias, he supports his claims and (as a teacher himself) has the credibility to speak his mind.

W. James Popham has written the authoritative guide to understanding the controversial No Child Left Behind Act. He subtitles the book "How Parents and Teachers Can Cope With No Child Left Behind," but he goes beyond his mission by shining a sorely needed spotlight into the esoteric world of assessment in terms lay readers can grasp. In so doing, he explodes the myths surrounding the accountability movement that is affecting all stakeholders in public schools.

It's hard to imagine a more timely volume, given the far-reaching implications of NCLB and the media's inability to pierce the self-serving rhetoric from vested interests of all parties. Popham's impressive background in assessment makes this book a badly needed corrective.

Walt Gardner taught for 28 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District. He writes frequently on education.

America's "Failing" Schools: How Parents And Teachers Can Cope With No Child Left Behind by education testing expert W. James Popham focuses upon providing parents and classroom teachers with clear, precise explanations of the Bush administration's "No Child Left Behind" doctrine and the implications this policy has for standardized testing, as well as what it means for a school to be declared "failing", and concrete suggestions for what can be done in response to such a school (and school district) condition. America's "Failing" Schools is timely and welcome reading which is especially commended to the attention of concerned parents, classroom teachers, school administrators, citizen groups like the PTA, and governmental policy makers on the state and federal level in the field of K-12 public education.

I purchased several of Tom Tierney's historical paper doll sets to augment my family history projects. I have 150 years of family photos which are mostly in black and white, of course, so it's great to see the period clothing in detail and in color. The paper dolls will add so much to my research and my family's appreciation of the historical times and stories. Although I intend to keep the paper dolls uncut, they are printed on card stock which would be easy to cut and not tear apart if well-cared for.

I cannot rave enough about this book. It is absolutely perfect for my writing research based on characters in 1876 America. I have had a very difficult time finding examples of dresses from that time period for the full-figured woman for one of my main characters. I was so pleased to see a full-figure doll and outfits in this book. It has far-exceeded my hopes! Thank you for a fabulous find!

I love these paper dolls. The time period was very ornate at the time which called for some very ornate dresses. Red was a very fashionable color too. These paper dolls are great for kids and a great addition to paper doll collections. Also, look at some of Tom Tierneys other paper doll publishings which were just as good as these.

I bought both this book and Volume 2 in the series [Anatomy and Physiology Study Guide: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations (Volume 2: Orientation of the Body, Cells, Tissues, Integumentary System) by Patrick Leonardi] and both these books helped me get an "A" in my A&P class!! They helped to reinforce the book material and quickly showed me which areas I didn't understand so I could study and get better grades for each exam. Many of the topics in A&P are complicated and it's VERY helpful to have a wonderful resource guide such as this to anticipate test questions so you can make your mistakes with the resource guide and not on your tests.

As a pre-nursing student, the competition is fierce to get into a program. When I first received these study guides I thought I had paid way too much for what I got and thought the material simplistic. What I found is that 25% to 35% of my test questions were very close to the examples given. If you are a serious student, these guides are another tool in your total study regime. They are not intended to be your ONLY source of study and review. There are no easy ways to learn the Sciences, but these focus on some of the commonly tested areas. I wanted all the resources I could find and it paid off with A's.

This stained glass coloring book was beautifully drawn. Not little kiddie pictures but beautiful pieces of art. It was a joy to color. I used markers and colored pencils. Colored pencils colored in one direction in the background make the reverse side of the picture look like stained glass. This tip was on the inside cover page of the book. Great!
